- So it’s been a while since I have uploaded and Akai Force video. As much as I absolutely love the Akai force I sometimes find myself hating it too lol. The song turned out really great, however the session crashed before I could record vocals and I lost everything since it wouldn’t reopen so this will forever be an instrumental 😂. Honestly I really kind of don’t mind because I actually ended up digging it quite a bit. It was still a lot of fun to make this video and revisit the Force for the first time in a few months. If you all dig this let me know and I’ll make more OK voice videos. ✌️ ❤️ 🎵

Man that’s a shame, sounded sweet! The crashing thing is weird, I’ve had the Force for nearly a year and it’s never crashed on me.. also have a Maschine + which has conversly frozen and/or died several times in half the time… so anyways, guess that’s just how goes with these otherwise incredible devices. Love & get allot from your take on both these beast so hope you don’t totally kick the Force out the house, she’s wild but worth it! 🙏😆😍
For sure. Grooveboxes are like living things and for some reason they’re always all just a little different. Maybe that’s part of the reason I like them so much lol. I’ve had lots of freezing issues with the force but I save all the time so it’s never been a bother. This was the first time it ever corrupted the actual file to where I couldn’t even open it. So I can’t really complain with one instance in 2 years. That’s still a better success rate than my computer lol. Just a bummer but nothing more. She’s still a good lady. :)

Oh it’s still awesome though. It’s only happened a few times in the last couple of years. Nothing is perfect but it’s pretty close. :)

100%! I use these sorts of “beats” as explorations. I try to make something every single day, but really I’m just using “Every single day” as practice for the REAL projects. Then I always seem to have several new useful tricks ready to utilize. :)

Hey thanks so much Dylan. It happens. Everything crashes from time to time, luckily this is the only crash I’ve ever had with Force in 2 years that has lost data, so that’s actually pretty good for a groove box lol. Thanks for the kind words!

Hmmmm… which firmware are you on? Not getting any crashing or instability on 3.12 for my Force. Are you using disk streaming? If so, are you sure you set your temp folder to an installed SSD or removable storage (not left at the default factory location, which can fill up quickly)?
I was actually running from an external hard drive on this video. However it’s always been an issue since the day I got the force. I’ve kind of come to learn that everybody’s force is just a little bit different. I think it’s just the nature of electronics. Again it’s never been a big deal because I have auto save set up and I can always just reboot, but this is just the first time I ever actually lost information in the process. No biggie though, one hard crash in two years is hardly something I can complain about. I love my Force ❤️. Also, thanks for those tips!

I love the Force but when I’ve been away from the box for a while I for get how to use it 😬… things like the short cuts or button combos to access pad parameters or TC or Quantisation or the page for adjust plug-in parameters! Then there’s setting up and recording clips on the matrix which isn’t intuitive….. all these thing take me out of the flow but once I realign with the box it just produces 👍
Why did you use an fx pedal with the bass instead of using the bass effects on the Force? Interested to know you take..
Yo. I feel every word of what you just said. I go streaks without using it and have to watch tutorials just to remember. It’s such a clunky workflow. As for the effects, I just like my effects on the floor multi fx pedal and I don’t like the 4 effect limits of the force. :)

For sure. It was just one of about two or three crashes in about 3 years, so even if mine has had more than most, it’s pretty darn stable :)
Love the guitar and bass but what modeler do you have on the ground there?
It’s the Line 6 Pod Go. Basically it’s a baby version of the Helix for 1/3 the price :)

So kind of a long answer but I don’t want to misinform you so here we go :)
It is if it’s used correctly. A lot of people confuse the purpose of the Machine and try to operate it like a daw, but really it’s just a super advanced sampler. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t yet made a Force vs. Maschine video. They’re really so different and the Maschine’s true peer is really the MPC Live. The Maschine is very stable in standalone if people are properly bussing group effects (rather than stacking 10 effects on each sound). Then as a sampler it’s meant to resample to new pads once they’ve gotten crazy. However, it can definitely be unstable (or at least max it’s CPU out if it’s used incorrectly). M
The Force however has always crashed on me but it’s never been a big deal because I’m always saving. However, this time it corrupted my SD card which was new and a huge bummer.
Basically, if you’re wanting a sampler workflow then I always suggest the Maschine, but if you’re wanting a “DAW in a box” workflow then I usually recommend the Force. I prefer Maschine because it’s just so much quicker to use, but I really do love both :)

So far the live 1 and the maschine plus are my favorites! The portability of the live is whet I love the most and I’m cool with the mpc workflow!
@@BeauTylerMakesMusic Your force is a lemon. Stability is a staple of Akai products that’s how they market their MPC 60 or at least what it became famous for was insane stability with zero latency.
If it’s still under warranty I would have AKAI replace

Im just now seeing this clip...its 2 yrs old.. Was on the verge of picking up a Force but damn! I cant be using a musical tool thats just going to schite the bed out of nowhere! Anyone have an opinion about firmware updates since then, possibly bringing more stability? I was so close...
Don’t let it concern you. Out of all grooveboxes, the Force has been possible the best for updates. Haven’t had a crash since that one :)

Never. I just have a bad habit of not filming it for some reason. I have pretty gnarly anxiety and tend to reach for it quite often when I need some musical therapy and just often don’t think about turning the cameras on. However, recently I put a sticky note on my desk that says “record more force videos”. Lol
I have a great one planned of another full song creation before the end of the year :)

I don’t, but it’s usually no biggie. I have it set to auto save every 5 minutes. This was the only time I’d ever lost any data.
How do you get the chords like that in the Force?
Yo. I was just using chords mode. If I remember correctly, since the Force isn't in front of me, hold shift + notes and you'll see different scale and chord options. :)

I believe so. I haven't had issues in quite some time.
How is it unstable explain
It’s really not that bad. Especially anymore. I think I just had a few buggy updates over the years that would cause it to crash. Hasn’t happened in quite a while though.

Whilst im chatting where do i find the best samples of vinyl scratching sounds on the force ive fantastic one but there on my sp404 mark 2
Im gonna be doing mostly lofi soul ibiza jazz n world music style stuff myself adding live instruments and recording in live instruments same as you do bud
