- The door I'm making for the shop will have quite an assortment of custom made hardware. These small forged slide bolts will secure a shutter in the upper portion of the door.

Neat addition for the door.
Thanks again John for another great video and for the inspiration.
Thanks John!
Nice functional feature for the new door.
Thanks.
I hadn't seen that technique for making flower petals before, looks great!
More like this!! Love this whole door project.
Thanks for sharing with us John, those slide bolt locks look really good. Stay safe and looking forward to seeing them on your windows . Fred.
Great project. I was enjoying the video so much I almost let the fire in my stove burn out.
Thanks. This is a nice idea for a project. A tip on your tapping technique. After drilling the hole in the bar at the drill press, remove the drill bit and insert the tap into the chuck. Start the tap by turning the chuck by hand while applying a small downward force with the drill press handle. Don't start the drill press, this is just to start the tap straight. When it can't be turned by hand anymore, loosen the chuck and lift it out of the way. Then put the tap wrench on the tap and finish the threading. 😊
That's a great tip, thanks for sharing!
I started to scream that you shouldn't use a drill press for threading but I continued reading and saw you explain not to turn on the press but to use it to apply pressure and to begin the threads by hand, yes good advice but I would add one thing more to that, make sure that the table is in the correct position because sometimes people will adjust the table to drill or sand at an angle, don't want to start the threads crooked.
Look great and probably functions just as good. Thanks for taking us along 👍.
Great video as usual! Using the ball punches on the back of the flowers was a really good touch
Nice hardware addition to the door.
They are beautiful. Like you said, you have different tool sets so we will do things differently. It's always fun to watch. Small decorative hardware is fun too.
From the thumbnail I thought this was another C-channel scrap project. I need to see if I can make that work.
Great video and great project. I really like the fact that you explain that people should use this as an idea but alter it to what they like and how you show that if you don't have the specific dimensional metal you can take something else and make it to what you need. This is as always a great instructional video and I can see lots of ways of altering a project like this. I'm looking forward to seeing the door video and seeing it all come together when you get the door installed.
The door went up this week end andt he build video should be edited for next weekend
@@BlackBearForge fantastic!
Very nice and very classy as always!
Super cute and approachable. I'm going to give this a shot. Great video
Love the filing vise! 😝
You should get one. 😜
Very nice.
Delightful slide bolt: A double gender look of female with the flowers & male with the functional operating lug, making for a smooth, eye catching & practical fastener. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the video. I really need to add some artsy features to my shop projects, mine all turn out very utilitarian. I'm making a lathe chisel rack right now. After watching this video I'm gunna add some band-sawn scrolls.
On a different subject, I have a question. Where can I get a set of those tenoning dies, for the Smithin' Magician? I don't see them on the Blacksmith Supply website. Thanks again.
You would have to make them in this style. They haven't been available to buy for many years.
Молодец бро🤝
John, where did you get that butchering die for the smithin’ magician? I can’t find them.
They aren't hard to make, but Blacksmith Supply does have them available - www.blacksmithsupply.com/SM3-Butcher-Dies_p_187.html
Woooooooo!!!!
So many projects, so little time. Making me think I just need to quit my job so I can enjoy my hobbies.
That's how I feel every day.
