Almost 20 years ago I was a dancer in Las Vegas. I use to be able to do so many different tricks on the pole. Now I am getting back into dancing and finding it very difficult to do even the basic moves. This video has reminded me that I need to recondition my body even though my mind knows what I need to do.

Yes, you are right, that is totally normal to recondition your body, I am sure you can do it pretty fast

I agree! Some studios want to give their students a feeling that they are learning a lot so they pack their classes with new tricks without enough time to master basic tricks. I had this problem with my first two studios and I always felt so lost after few months. Now I am in a studio which goes slow and steady with teaching material and it is perfect 👌

I have to have the perfect amount of moisture/dryness in my hands or else I can't do many simple holds

Thank you for sharing this Alesia! This video is so insightful, and progressing in pole truly is a combination of patience, mindfulness, and hard work.❤️ I'm happy to be under your wing/online pole school as I learn this 😊

I cant get the chopper. The tipping just does not work for me yet people get it first try and ive been trying for over 1 year 😪

I can almost do an Ayesha and still can’t do the chopper. You aren’t alone! I feel like it’s one of those moves that you can either do right off that bat or it takes a lot of time

I found this video by searching for “can’t invert”.
I’ve been learning and practicing pole dancing for over a year, but I still haven’t mastered the basic (chopper) invert.

I am working on spins, and beginning with the chopper. But i run into one problem. My shoulders are a weak point. Do you have any tips on how to get them stronger? Without injury (because I might already have injured them)

the main thing s to keep correct posture - lower your shoulders and move them back. So this way all pole moves will be safe for your shoulders if you don't do the hardest ones (that are not for your level yet). Plus you can do different planks and push ups with correct technique too

I am currently struggling with straddle inverts.

that's the move lots of students struggling with. I wish you handle it soon! Pole conditioning will help you

That move and I never got along. Most girls in my class learned it in two lessons. I needed more than six months. I nearly made me quit Pole but than one day it suddenly worked. It still isn’t perfect but what once nearly made me quit now remainds me of how good progress feels. Keep going, it pays of!!!

So some people just don't have the body type? I have almost no muscle in my arms and I can't carry my own body weight. I'm very flabby and have a big belly even if I lose weight. I also don't have any physical attractive features. My face a neck are very chubby and Ihave a flat chest. It's only for beautiful women I guess.

It isnt, I have teachers who themselves don't have the stereotypical ripped pole dance body but have balance in their body strength and mass. You can do it, you just need to work extra hard on your upper body strength and do moves that make the most use of lower body strength, or experiment different pole styles. Floorwork doesn't require much lifting for example
