    Today you will learn a few music production terms & vocabulary that every creator should know at some point in their creation journey. These are SUPER basic terms that probably all of you know or have heard before but a few of you I've noticed either don't fully understand or confused with others. So when it comes to the bare basics of music theory, I've got you covered. I know for a fact I am not as technical in my speaking as someone like Andrew Huang (whom you should definitely check out for more in-depth explanations on all of what I am going to be talking about here: • Learn music theory in ... ) however what I excel at is speaking in terms the average Joe can understand and so that is exactly what I am going to do! There are so many other words I could cover but this video would be hours long so here are just the ones I constantly use and hear in my daily messages and emails. #MusicProduction

    Pitch and key threw me because they're almost the same. I still kinda don't get it. The octive was helpful tho, because i didn't know it was 8 notes, i thought it was the same as a single note.. but can you do another one of these but for like the mixing process? In other words, whenever I go to the studio and I'm trynna tell the engineer what I want them to do with my vocals they never really get it because idk the technical terms that engineers use in reference to the different programs. I have no clue what a decible is (if thats how you spell it) idk what the different affects are, and I'm not clear on the different ways to tell them to correct a certain part of the vocals. All I can do is try my best to describe to him what I want it to sound like when I hear it in my head but that obviously doesnt work and I end up with a set of vocals that I'm not happy with. Can you do one of those in the future? Pleaseeee?

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  4 года назад +2

      Yea that’s exactly what I plan on doing, there’s so so so many terms to go over but it just would’ve taken so long! So I’ll do another for engineering and such.
      Also regarding pitch and key...
      Think of pitch as the precision of a note. The same as how perfect a circle is. If you draw a circle freehand, it’s not going to be perfect. It’ll have lumps and not be precisely round.
      Equate that to singing a note. The note is the circle. You can sing a note (draw a circle) but the note won’t always be perfect (the circle won’t be precisely round.) It will have some imperfections and be slight flat or sharp which means out of tune/off key (the circle will have its lumps and such). Pitch is the quality of a note. Which is why people use autotune to correct a pitch. You can sing a single note and it can be the right note but the quality of that note can be horrible (think, bad American idol singers with bad tone... that is bad pitch). And so people autotune it (pitch correct it) so the quality of that note can be exact and precise.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  4 года назад +1

      Yea but it’s more than just 8 notes. Most beginners would just assume 8 random notes, they don’t know it’s in the scale or if it’s half steps, full steps, or that it ends in the higher register. You gotta kinda break it down further because I know a lot of folks who will hear that and just assume you count 8 half steps up. And thanks! 🙏🏾

    • @demikoo
      @demikoo 4 года назад +1

      IAMLXGEND - truth. I didn’t even think of saying that it’s the 8 note of a scale. Then you gotta explain what a scale is again. Yeah, it’s a whole thing!! Glad you did this video and not me.

      As your audience, my suggestion would be to keep your introduction as short as possible.
      It's just a suggestion, only you know how to make videos so if this is the correct way then you must carry on and ignore me.
      I didn't mean to offend you in any way.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  4 года назад +2

      I do keep them as short as possible. As a RUclipsr for the last 14 years and seeing my analytics I see what makes a video blow up over time and what doesn’t. You MUST include an intro WITH spoke keywords that match your tags, title, and description in the beginning of the video so RUclips’s algorithm senses your words, sorts it out and distributes your video alongside the rest of the videos on RUclips with similar themes. If you think a minute and a half is a long intro I don’t know what to tell you, that’s rather average. If I went on for 5 minutes then it would be a problem. But I didn’t. I did what I had to do in order for the system to listen and register my dialogue as a metric to run within the algorithm. I’m not gonna just say “here’s some music terms to know”.
