No, not mistaken, We were on the Island having a look around and were supposed to have around 30mins left of the crossing window but there was quite a bad swell already so i'm guessing there would have been plenty of people behind us who would have been cut off and had to stay tide the tide went out.
Me and my girlfriend crossed it on a XL 185 in 1984 with the sea upto the axles a huge American SUV decided to follow us and it swamped out. I think it hydrolocked as it was outside a garage at Seahouses weeks later with all the luggage removed. That garage doesn't sell petrol now but the old pumps are still outside. Or they were recently. About 8 years back last time I passed. 😂
It's freaking Lindisfarne, this causeway probably has roots dating back well over a millennium. First documented place in Britain raided by Vikings was the monastery here.

A strong wind ,(gale) can add a lot to the height of a tide and its timing .
