Yeah I’ve had the wrong groceries delivered to me (someone else’s order) and none of my stuff, and I got a full refund and got to keep the wrong groceries - I just sent a pic and no further questions were asked. 100% I’m sure that they could have gotten a refund.

This happened to my family on Thanksgiving 2021. It was obviously for a big family (there’s only myself and my parents) and we asked the our neighbors we knew and wanted to donate them but obviously we couldn’t. We called Instacart and everything to try to let whoever ordered them that we had them but I’m sure that’s a privacy issue. It felt terrible wasting so much food.

    • @CamDollar

I am wondering though, was the person who left the note definitely the owner of the groceries, or could it have maybe been the driver? Like they said, the owner of the groceries could have found K's apartment based off a delivery pic, but it just seems a lil far fetched and insane for a person who is getting refunded to care enough to leave a mean note, but not care enough to knock on the door and ask for the groceries or leave their apt number so K can drop them off? I was thinking maybe the driver realized and came back to try and correct it before anyone noticed, but got mad and left the note when they realized they were taken inside already. That may explain too why nobody knocked to get the groceries back because they're just mad their mistake got caught, rather than mad the groceries aren't there, especially since someone knows they got misdelivered so they can't redeliver it now. Explains why the person leaving the note knew the location of K's apartment, that the note didn't have a call back # or the owners apt # and why the owner didn't find the groceries when K put them back outside. Just a thought tho...

Especially when your double checking it’s the right place, MANY times people who don’t respond get their deliveries in the wrong address. Sometimes the app isn’t super precise when it comes to apartments. Unfortunately people ARE ASSHOLES, I’ve learned this with doordash 3+ years.

Him speaking out about this brings awareness to the SA issue that we keep seeing in our society. I hope the young people who looked up to him are able to learn that sexual coercion can be subtle, and based on the privileges someone is afforded, it can be innate. We’ve seen countless old men get caught for this very thing, but have chalked it up to them being old. Now we are seeing a young man repeating the cycle, and it’s really showing how ingrained this behavior is in our culture.

I’ve been in a situation where I was coerced into having sex with someone, because saying no wasn’t working, so I felt my only option was to comply.
I wouldn’t say I was sexually assaulted, bc I did agree to allow it finally, but I FELT violated & disgusted with myself during & afterwards. I felt like he didn’t give me any other option & that he wasn’t going to let me leave if I didn’t comply. He was much bigger than me & I was 17, so I didn’t feel I could fight him off either.
So yeah, I’d call it coercion for sure. It still sucks just the same as an actual sexual assault. (I’ve been assaulted too)
When someone says no, that needs to be it. To continue to push sex with someone is disgusting.

My ex did this to me for years. I told him what I wanted in bed and he claimed to listen but never did, and because he worked odd hours and I take meds at night that make me sleepy I really didn’t want to but felt bad if I didn’t. I also have some physical and mental disabilities (plus trauma from a former partner) that made things difficult but I was always working with what I could.
Eventually he accused me about lying about my sex drive initially (we’d been together nearly 4 years at this point) and then started commenting on how I was gaining weight and how gross I looked. After that I was very hurt and obviously didn’t feel comfortable, but even after I explained this to him he was still upset I didn’t want to have sex with him.
I’m in a very loving relationship now with someone who actually makes me happy and worthy ❤️.

Logically, I know it was basically rape. It felt the same, for sure. I know I didn’t consent, & I was not a willing participant either. It’s true that sexual assault always feels like it’s somehow our own fault, when in reality, it’s far from it. Hate that any of us have even had to have the thought in the first place.

i think a huge piece missing from the discussion of if andrew should be “cancelled” or not, is that while it is only natural for the outsiders to have their own opinions on the matter, the only people who can forgive him/accept his apology are his victims. bottom line. end of story. period. it is not anyone else’s apology to accept. this one hit me harder than most because i also have an abuser in the “interview guy” space with a huge platform and if he ever came out and put a video out verbatim to what andrew did and i was reading in the comments about people forgiving him and blah blah blah i would be livid. you don’t know until you know. just my two cents, i don’t think it matters at all what we all think. i think it really only matters about the victims and i agree with you all that he spent way to much time addressing other people in this “apology” than he did his victims and i think that immediately devalues and delegitimizes his apology for me personally. i hope his victims find peace and live happy lives because they deserve it.

It made me afraid to say no to my abuser (and partner at the time) for fear of a worse, more forceful experience. I still struggle saying no sometimes because it makes it feel meaningless after your boundaries have been overstepped.
His self victimization is infuriating. It’s really telling that she gave him multiple chances to take accountability but he was silent until it was public knowledge and had consequences.
I think a way that he may get some redemption is raising awareness on SA and do a series where he donates 100% of profits to victims of SA. He shouldn’t be able to just jump back into whatever he was doing before

I bought a couple of Morphe palletes on November 2022 during the Black Friday sale at Ulta. I returned them yesterday and to my surprise, the associate had no idea about the harmful additives in the eyeshadow palettes and the lawsuit. Even after I shared the information to her, she was still interested in buying more Morphe palettes. If makeup products are not FDA approved, Ulta shouldn’t sell them at stores. I even sent a tweet to Ulta and they haven’t responded.

I can totally relate to that AITA, I live in an apartment building and my neighbors are ALWAYS sending boxes to my apartment on accident and I never know what to do with them, as you said you can’t knock on every door and ask if it was theirs.. I usually just put the box down in the mailroom but after its constantly happening multiple times a week I usually just leave the packages outside of my front door. If you live in my apartment building and are missing a package, changes are it’s sitting outside my front door🤷🏼‍♀️

As a huge fan of Andrew, this was extremely shocking and disappointing. As a survivor of SA myself I appreciated his apology. Our culture has taught men this is how you have sexual experiences with women. Alcohol can also have a huge impact on situations like this. HOWEVER these are contributing factors that men should NOT use as excuses. I do think that Andrew having this platform is an amazing opportunity to educate other men and teach them accountability. I'm so glad that conversations like this are happening. I hope he does a project on this topic and doesn't just disappear. He has a voice, eyes are on him. Use it for good. Donate the money to better sexual education in schools. Teach teens that consent exists because it was never a topic in my life until I was assaulted myself. Idk, just my thoughts.

Miss Karelly, you are NTA. I lived in a mobile home park and this happened a lot. We lucked out and got decent, repeat drivers over time. However, Door Dash started in my town about the time COVID hit. So lot of people wanting to make cash, but still too lazy to do complete deliveries. This resulted in us weeding out the drivers by filing complaints due to missing items or missed delivery. Your neighbors should be lucky you gave a damn to begin with. And I second the comment the top. The store CANNOT take them back. I live in WV...we some po' folks here and even pre-COVID and they did not take them back.
Ya'll made my week! I love you gals...be safe, sleep well and have a great weekend! Many hugs to Holly and Charlie 😄

Instead of giving in I held my ground and kicked him out. He left after throwing things and it was so traumatic. Never took Accountability for what he did. And I always thought I was crazy for being upset about it and dropping him as a friend but now I feel so so much better. ❤

This grocery situation has happened to me and my BF, please be careful! We called the store to try and get someone to pick them up because it was a LOT of food. (we kept everything in bags and put things in our fridge in the meantime.) We finally got in contact with the right store and they said the people were not going to pick them up and to just keep them... mind you this is after the store has asked US to now deliver their groceries. Come to find out the store gave the grocery owners our address (after telling us they would not be picking them up) because 2 HUGE guys come banging on our door at 11PM demanding their food. It was the scariest thing I have ever been in and for a second I thought we had been set up. Some context - For some reason we had been getting takeout orders for months before and after this situation occurred that we didn't order but on one would pick it up. It was very strange, and we moved the second we had the chance. Not to mention 2 days before moving out someone broke into our apartment and stole a bunch of stuff we had packed. (They do not keep contact info on the groceries)

    Sydney, you're not the a-hole!
I use delivery services sometimes because I'm disabled and can't drive to the store myself. They've delivered to the wrong place a couple times, but I contacted customer service right away and got a full refund. I always select *knock on door* and call when they are close just to be safe now. Whenever they've been left at the wrong address, I just hope that it went to someone who maybe really needed them that week 🖤
Plus like you said, why waste the food?
I don't get why they didn't leave a number or knock and politely ask if you had them. Not your fault!

Instacart worker here! Karelly, you are NTA. From what you described, it sounds to me like that note was likely left by the delivery person and not your neighbor. They probably were doing a double delivery (shopping and delivering to 2 different addresses at the same time) and accidentally mixed them up and delivered the wrong order to the wrong address. Once they got to the second address they probably realized their mistake, and tried to go retrieve the correct order but realized it was no longer at your door and proceeded to leave the note. Hence why there was no unit number and why they were left in the hallway all day. Either way, this isn’t your fault! Good on you for trying to get them back on the hands of the right person! But I probably would’ve kept them too in the end 😂

Karelly, this has happened to me!!!
I obviously brought the groceries inside, I didn’t want them to just sit there, it’s my front door! Lol I stared at them for a minute before taking action on what to do.
Luckily, for me, there was a Walmart sticker on them, so I drove to Walmart and dropped the groceries off. I let the manager know that they delivered to the wrong address. They were able to find the customer (because of the barcode) and took care of the customer. BOOM! Easy.
Whoever that guy was, what a total asshole. You’re good K, at that point I would’ve kept the groceries too. Lol

  • @kayliehood
    @kayliehood Год назад

Karelly you are NOT the a hole. I lived in an apartment complex that had like a community board online so people would constantly post about missing delivered items. If you had something like that, you probably would have been able to find the unit/house those groceries belonged to. Since you didn't, how we're you supposed to know where to take them to? And yeah, when they deliver groceries they just leave the bags with no receipts and no way to know who they actually belong to. Those neighbors probably have a history of someone stealing their deliveries and they just took it out on you. Not right either but I can understand their frustration too. But you did the right thing.

I've heard the consent/coercion argument go a few different ways, but one I found really interesting was that blurring the definition of coercion and consent is really, really damaging. We start to treat the "Victim" party as if they are naïve / ignorant enough that they don't have the ability to know if they are consenting at ALL which in turn can be quite sexist and disempowering. There ARE always going to be shady characters out there who will try to pull stunts to manipulate you. Being honest enough to know your boundaries and communicate that in a way that other people can understand is a very personal responsibility that is required for anyone who is mature enough to be doing this stuff. Standing your ground when you've made a decision, however uncomfortable it might be, is also something you learn with time. If someone asked for my wallet over and over and over, yes they might be an annoying A*hole and in the wrong, but if in the end I do give it to them the choice is still on me because I'm an adult with autonomy. There isn't really a black and white answer, all of this is a very grey area. Andrew was being a dick and should learn from his actions for sure. But calling this a Coercion/ Manipulation issue is a discredit to anyone who has ever been in a real situation where their life could be ruined by saying no or turning someone down.

  • @souurmoon
    @souurmoon Год назад +2

I honestly think Karelly should have left the groceries out a little longer. 30 minutes is not long enough. I wouldn't have brought them in, knowing I didn't order them until plenty of time had passed by. The owner did eventually show up and he could have found them if they were still at the door.
