I’ll never forget being about thirteen years old and learning what horribly happened to the late Emmitt Till.💔 It personally scared/frightened me, how another group of human beings could do this to another.😢😔😔 How also there was no Justice, I won’t personally be going to watch this film or revisit this horrifying event personally. But I do love Whoopi deeply moving interview overall. May Emmie Till continuously Rest In Peace along with his beloved mom and so many more.🥀

You understand now why they don’t want black history in schools? Because the answer
Will be, “how about A. Aubrey , young Martin while his killer Zimmerman walked free, B. Taylor murdered by police while asleep in her bed, George Floyd died begging a policeman to remove his knee from his neck so he could breath but this was only granted😢 after his death.
    Yesteryear’s story is no different.

Thank you for the movie and executives.11 yrs, to get this non fictional American history done. The killers got off and got paid for it by a now defunct national magazine. , Bryant recently admitted 7 yrs AFTER Mrs Mobley's death in a book that Emmett had never said or did anything to Carol Bryant. Bryant's son, the former Ms. Gov. Phil Bryant is now embroiled in the Brett Favre Welfare scandal... Ms Mibley had to sneak her son's body out of the state because those in power didn't want the truth known they literally were trying to bury the truth. No evidence by way of Emmett's body, no proof.

I know the story well, and a focus piece I watched on the National Memorial for Peace and Justice (honoring lynching victims) haunts me. I am a white man raised in New England privilege and these stories were never part of my youth arc of learning, but I am fortunate to have later learned the history of racism and the South, to know how horrifyingly awful humans can be to each other. To see the current rise of hatred and white nationalism is to become aware of an enormous threat to our future; I pray voters start to awaken to the fact that, yes, we CAN lose it all, and begin to participate in our representative democracy, to SAVE our democracy. IMHO.

A GOOD EXPERIENCE? FOR WHOM AND FOR WHAT IS THIS A “GOOD” EXPERIENCE? Perhaps for too many generations who were never taught the whole truth about whole human beings. With all due respect, the ugliness and horror of what THEY! had done to her only son whose death was totally unnecessary. Who ALL were/are the THEY(!) OF which those on tv today are speaking? The monied interests behind and in front on this production; are THEY(!) in any way, shape, or form complicit in their vocality(?) at this time in USA history? Especially since many k-12 up to fifty-something’s have no one to turn to for comfort and context after this major motion picture event. These questions are vital to our future together. Not to answer is potentially to tear the USA asunder. And I know there are those who would have it be shredded, splintered, fractured into oblivion. They believe (?), they and they alone know how to rebuild. The alone part of that last sentence is what should give all the USA pause. (C) VernonNickersonSchoolcoach 2022. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Sorry you see this as "glorifying Black Trauma."
I see it as another opportunity to gain a deeper understanding... How a failure to recognize "other" people's humanity, to love and respect each other, results in TRAUMA.
See if you can see this as a story glorifying the love of a mother for her child, and her desire to bring attention to the perpetual mental disorder race-ism inflicts on the pshyche of racialized so called "white" people. The trauma is real. It has no color, just like love. But fear and hate is constantly trying to colorize our perception of our humanity. I think the story isn't meant to "glorify black trauma" more than it is to humanize people's perception of a traumatic event.
Understand how challenging that can be in THE FACE OF INHUMANITY. People make up all kinds of excuses and reasons not to see.
