I watched this movie for the first time. OMG! The unimaginable amount of pain and fear that 14 year old Emmit Till endures while they murdered him! My heart broke for his mother, Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmit’s family, friends and community. I am proud of Ms. Mamie Till-Mobley for having the strength to become an activist for equal rights and begin change in this County.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. ♥️💐🦋

This story has always haunted me. I am so looking forward to this movie, especially now knowing how much research and outreach went into it!

I will watch this movie, about lynching, so tragic, heartbreaking, especially for a mother in this movie fighting justice for her son.

There's always a lot of talk about "Colorism" and actors not looking like the historical figures they are portraying, Nina Simone, for example. The actor chosen to be Emmit Till is very much darker than Till actually was, to the point I didn't realize that was supposed be Till at first, but I haven't heard one comment about it.

Girl bye! Who are you as a Nigerian to tell our story and to NOT include the violence is a disgrace. You’re just pandering to white audiences.

Hmm...who saw the violence but the killers? Portraying the violence would also be subject to scrutiny. This film is from the perspective of the mother. So you would rather this particular film not have been made because the director is Nigerian? How about the fact that Mamie wanted this film made and Keith Beauchamp (writer/producer) has been trying to get this film made for many years. The anti-lynching act was only passed into law in March of this year. This film is not perfect. No film is. But it does not do an injustice to the Emmett, Mamie (his mother) and their legacy. You say she is pandering. Easy to say. I hope you are doing more than just pointing the finger.

@@bolder2009 you said all of this to say what? Is it not pandering? What’s the point of telling the story without the violence? Isn’t that whole point….None of us was there, so with that being said let’s not do any historical film, right? I don’t care who’s perspective the film was written for the story is about Emmett, and yes I would’ve preferred a black American director, because the story might’ve been told correctly. Why are you so concerned about scrutiny, seems like your ok with pandering?

Alright. If you feel that the story was not told correctly, then hopefully a black American will do a better job. Have a good day!
