You should always pull the spark plugs out and then crank the car to see if water comes out or if it's just fuel and oil because if it's hydrolox you can do serious damage
I dont think its a good idea to run the engine with that oil water mixture but whatever its your car... You should also borescope the cylinders if theres any rust on the cylinder walls
Definitely drain the oil put new oil and filters, but pull plugs first to check for water this is why there was one plug out in the beginning of the vid
Better to change the transmission, engine, and differentials oil, and yes the borescope is an excellent idea, also, pull the spark plugs, someone writed that in the comments section, in a sunny day, leave the vehicle completely open, or even better, vacuum it, remove seats, some of the interiors affected by water BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE; it's a lot of work i know, but better be in the safe path in a case like this, it's worth it.
WD Detailing detailed a fully submerged Subaru STI last month. This car had seashells in it. They cleaned because the owner is going to part the car out.
watching them play around with the buttons on the radio and seats while the flood damage car was running was heart pounding for me. hope that engine turn's out ok in the end.
My gut says another win. You two have a great thought process to up your odds of scoring on salvage auctions. On this one I wonder if the owner was having some problems with the car and used the flood to sell it off to the insurer. Could be the battery was bad, and it had a couple of nasty dings that would cost a lot at a body shop. It is in the area of the flood so why not. Pawn it off to the insurance for write off payout and they have a payday.
I feel like 30k for that flooded Maserati is a big gamble and good thing it runs but I don’t think you guys will get more than 35k for it, people are scared to buy flooded cars even after it’s fixed
the yard did know about the trunk unlock.. there is literally an arrow pointing to it on the door frame they wrote in with a grease pen to show you where to open it
Yes someone took the intake boot off to check to see if there was water in the intake and it took the cool pack out to make sure there was no water in the cylinder head that way when they cranked it over it did not bend a valve or rods or anything like that!
Please Christan from next time onwards whenever you get a flooded car drain the oil and change it multiple times if it's milky and even if it isn't still change it. What you did right there, mixed the oil even more with water because of the engine running.
funny enough i have the same problem with my buddy’s maserati, a 2018 GrandTurismo too. he drove it in the water and water got in the intakes and in the engine. His mistake was he tried starting the car, of course misfires happened and car stalled. Currently in the process of getting fixed for him, so far electronic parking brake module is screwed, needs a new one from Ferrari/Maserati and that’s over $1000… plus gaskets and all new ignition coil pack. as well as couple of things, ranking up to a total of approx 2-6000$ total. Good luck guys!
When the battery goes flat it will trigger the suspension and electronic brake light. Easy to fix. Will probably just need a reset once the battery is charged back up. Drain the oil , replace with new oils and filters , check spark plugs and possibly replace with new and you’ll be good to go.
Fresh or Salt water!!? Makes a huge difference...and are ECU's at floor level or any under seats? In any event, I would not even think to crank over, until I flushed out and drained engine oil
I owned a 2011 QP for 7y. The EPB fault usually means you need to replace the module located in the rear trunk. I had that problem. Also had a cam bus error. Never had any suspension issues for shock. Word of warning that car will eat through bushings and ball joints. I went through 3x sets over 110,000 miles!!!
Your videos are so addictive, and without knowing it, I have spent 2 hours watching quite a number of them.Definitely want to continue watching. Subscribed and hit the bell. Keep it up. You guys are cool!
I know sometimes changing oil on these vehicles is annoying, but I really don't know why they would start the engine without changing the oil at a minimum when it clearly has water in it.
I bought a mid 2005 Ford from a dealer who said the car was in limp mode, wouldn’t change gears etc………They took 50% off price……..They were very unhappy when I went back a week after buying it as it ran perfectly……All it needed was a new battery…………..😂
That is a beautiful car. But what about the computer? It's usually located low in the car, once the circuits start to corrode you have to replace it. 💲💲💲💲
I love the look and sound of the GranTurismo, great buy! Maybe not the most reliable or of the best quality, but it´s a lot cheaper then a Ferrari or Lambo....
Not true. I spent over $35k on parts and tires over 7y. So far with my ferrari past 1y only $250 for window regulator and $750 for headers. Masi always had major suspension problems and ate through tires. New ferrari 2010+ are so reliable which is why @normalguysupercar sold his 458 Italian. Not enough problems for content!!!
Took me q moment to realize this wasn't the same one that randy from auto auction rebuilds had looked at in oaklahoma at copart lol pretty cool tho that it runs and drives
Nice work brother. Looks like a lot of more Maserati Gran Turismo sport evolution of the Modified Cars from the Future of the Auctions. Guess i need to buy it with the 2009 Corvette Z06 Sport for genius.
them car places like copart gets over on people, like a goodwill ,they just throw a price on a damaged car i couldnt do that can get a great car for 30 grand
I would’ve drained all fluids 1st and then start it. I don’t understand the logic and benefit to doing it the way you guys did it. Car looks good though.
Sorry but you are wrong On my 996 Carrera you can open the frunk when battery is dead In fuse box under the A pillor you have big red relay and you connect + from jumper box and it opens frunk
I don't like these guys only because I'm jealous they wake everyday doing what appears on film to be what I dream of... 😜 Okay okay on serious note I was only kidding really enjoy these guys content, I really like that they are local really hope to cross paths someday especially being they are local. Keep it up guys good job
It clearly had water in the oil. At least change the oil next time before attempting to start a flood car.
Okay sir
yep never start a milkshake also don’t let the milkshake in it one day longer than you have to
that's it you tell them how to it the right way. 🤣🤣🤣
My car has oil in the coolant reservoir what could be the cause?😬

"it did crank a little bit"
just enough to destroy it :)
Pure luck on this one. Zero brain to start it with milkshake oil.
loving the flood damage content everyone's doing right now 🔥
Who exactly?i think JR garage is first this year 🤨
WD Detailing detailed a fully submerged Subaru STI last month. This car had seashells in it. They cleaned because the owner is going to part the car out.
Yeah it never hurts to start a flood car 🤣
watching them play around with the buttons on the radio and seats while the flood damage car was running was heart pounding for me. hope that engine turn's out ok in the end.
When you first start a Maserati the check engine light stays on for like 15 to 20 seconds as it does a system check then it goes off
My gut says another win. You two have a great thought process to up your odds of scoring on salvage auctions.

I thought he said that was the indicator to the height of the water level.
Should of done a oil change
But they bought an X pipe
Based on the comments on the last video, those start up attempts could be costly lol
YOLO
Yes, there is a procedure to follow if there is even a chance of water being present. Drain oil and flush cylinders out. Hope the motor survives. 🙏

Without flood or any other type of damage these vehicles spend more time in the service garage than your home garage.
Exactly, maseratis brak down constantly. They're just poorly engineered cars with great sound and looks, and that's about it.
Mine never breaks

Why did u not change that oil before starting
"I don't think it would hurt to try to start it" Oh but it could....it REALLY could
Y'all are awesome! love your tube Did this with a yacht - had lots of work to do. Still was a blast.
Much love ❤️
water gets in from blown head gasket, oil water on stick is from flood, seems just change oil twice with engine flush might clean it
Get yourselves a Carly Diagnosis kit! It's highly recommend..
Looks like there may be water in the engine... let's start it. LOL. Wouldn't it make sense to change the oil BEFORE trying to start the car?
Got a little too excited 😂

Yes for sure. My GT has been the most reliable exotic I have ownwed. I would not be afraid of a well sorted older one at all.

You can manually open the truck release if the battery is dead.
these old granturismo have gone up in value recently. Really nice cars.
All used cars have went up, nothing pertaining to what car exactly

Watching your video for the first time already loving your channel
I know how the suspension fault light is on the suspension Electric maybe but I say the handbrake is a fluid or it’s just old
I want too see the Porsche Taycan S (Electric) in Baby Blue - You said You were going to show US!!
Use an jump starter that connects to cigarette lighter. That worked for me on a Boxter with a dead battery.
These cars get a post flood detail I'd buy the blown big block Camaro rear it completely apart and put it back together and it should be good to go
Also check under floor mats like samcrac has its bmw getting stupid problem for future
I wouldn't even want to deal with flood cars. You guys are serious risktakers

Cheaper initially, just as expensive in the long run considering how unreliable Maserati's are and how expensive maintenance or repairs are on them
Took me q moment to realize this wasn't the same one that randy from auto auction rebuilds had looked at in oaklahoma at copart lol pretty cool tho that it runs and drives
