Penalty Box Woodshop how far on are the shelf holes?
I believe that they are every 3” but I would have to go back and check. I’ll check and let you know next week
Is there any chance I could commission something like this from you? I'm looking for something similar but coming up short on options.
Recently retired Army, now a First Responder. Thank you for your service. I will make this challenge coin Cabinet. Best video ever.
Thank you for your service to this country and community! Thank you for the kind comment!
I have been collecting challenge coins and have been looking at a lot of ways how to display them and this is one of the best videos I have seen, can't wait to get started. Excellent video and job!!

Beautiful work brother I've been thinking about building my own for a while now maybe from your video I can make it happen.
This is wonderful. A friend wants me to make them a "shot glass" display box. This design looks very do-able. Thank You.
Thank you! This should work perfect for something like that! Let me know if you have any questions along the way!
Great video brother! I think I may have to build something like this in the near future. Great tutorial!
Bent's Woodworking Thanks Jason and thanks for all the pointers!
Thank you for posting this video. Thank you for your service my man. I don't have any challenge coins but I have a piggy bank full of pennies for my next festool purchase lol

Chief Chavez
Awesome! Thanks man!
Looks much more sturdy than the one I purchased. Nice work, on this and your other videos. I've spent many an hour watching your videos, and contemplating throwing out my wife's boxes in the garage, to make room for my stored woodworking tools. Maybe I'll just do it, and let her put me in the penalty box..haha
Hahaha do it!!!!! She will forgive you as soon as you build her something nice!
Thank you for the clear and detailed instruction on a great looking cabinet. I’m preparing to make a shot glass cabinet and will use your design with a few modifications. Two questions about making and mounting the door (this will be my first attempt at a hinged door). : Would you recommend planning for the door to have an overhang and flush trim it to size to avoid ending up short? And any tips on selecting hinges? There are so many types out there and I’m very new to their terminology.
Thanks again !
Thanks George! I would definitely make the door slightly larger and then flush trim. I do this with a lot of things in my projects to ensure that you don’t come up a little short. Hinges can get tricky since there are tons of them out there but I would stick with something very simple for your first try. The once I use in the video are pretty simple and basic hinges that you should be good to go on. Good luck!
One of my favorite projects you’ve done. If I ever have to make one this style I’ll be using your cut list for sure! Anything you found a pain to do on this project?
John Ayala Wood Works Thanks John! I would have used a rabbit instead of a Dado for the glass. That way it could be removed/replaced if ever needed.
Love the video. I want to make some cases to hold some thimbles. I think I could make them with the tools you used in this video. What power tools did you use?
Thank you! If you look in the description of the video all of the tools I used are listed there. Thanks for the support!
Wall Mount Display Cabinet for knifes
Excellent video.. I want to build a display case for my powder coat color sample bottles. When cutting the groove for the plexi, is there an alternative tool for a router table? I don’t have that...
Thanks! You can use your table saw to make a shaker style door instead of the router table.
I assume the plexiglass glass is cut undersize slightly to allow for expansion/contraction due to temperature?
Yep, I always try to give any type of panel some room for that. Good call!
Hi, I am new to wood working, what was the spry can you used and what was the glass/perspex in the front of the cabinet?
Nice video man, but what you would do if somebody breaks glass? Need new door?
Borko Thank you and thats a great question. If there was one thing that I could change about the project it would be a rabbet and some clips to hold the glass instead of a grove. Since I was using 1/4” thick plexi glass it wasn’t something I was worried about but I understand the concern.
Can you make a Display case or shadow box for zippo lighters
This might be a dumb question, but what is actually hold the frame of the cabinet together? It looks like the 4 peices are glued together with 45 degree joins - is that really enough? Thanks
It’s not a dumb question but you are correct. A properly glued miter joint is very strong
con you dow a knife desplay cabenet for the wall
Thanks! How thick is the plexiglass that you use in the door?
It’s around 1/4” thick
what is the dimensions of the glass please? I need a challenge coin display.
What are the dimensions of the plexiglass?
Are there plans available for this?
Could you tell me the name of the tool you use to push you boards though the tablesaw?
It’s a microjig grrriper. Should be a direct link to it in the description section
If you have a scroll saw, you can make one yourself, no need to purchase. Otherwise just google "Table saw push stick." You will see the VERY simple plans (if you can call them that, as they are so simple) to cut out your own, plush a gazillion brick and mortar stores, and online store to purchase one. Don't fret over picking the "right" one. There are many differences, but they are work well.
Do you have plans available for this?
Not yet but will be working on that soon. Check back on the website for updates! Thank you!
i really would like to make this but with a lock cuz i have some very valuable coins from my great grandma.
You can use lockable clasps
Hi, I just discovered your channel. Great videos. Do you sell the stuff you build or can someone order something from you? If yes, how do I contact you? Do you have a work email address?
I don’t typically sell stuff. Thanks for the kind comment though!
I don’t have enough for a case. I only have like 12.
Damn, keep collecting and you’ll get there!!!
I bought Woodglut once and now I have lifetime access to thousands of woodworking projects.
Woodglut sucks. Absolutely the worse
Great let’s first buy $10,000 worth of tools first, just to make 2 displays.
