  • Here’s a first time build for me, a Shot glass display case. This DIY build costs $40.00 in lumber from Lowes. I used the premium pine lumber. The case holds 42 shot glasses. Size of the cabinet is:
    24 3/4 inches wide
    23 inches tall.
    Material List is as follows:
    5- 1/2” x 4” x 24”
    2- 1” x 4” x 48”
    1- 1/4” x 2ft x 2ft sheet of plywood
    **I bought a 1/2” x 6” x 2ft board also but it was not used or needed**
    Cut List:
    *Cut the 5- 1/2" x 24" @ 24 inches due to not actual size when purchased (case shelves)
    *2- 1" x 4" @ 23 1/4" (top & bottom of case)
    *2- 1" x 4" @ 23" (left & right side of case)
    *1/4' x 2ft x 2ft plywood (use as is, no cutting required)
    **Drilled shot glass holes with a 1 5/8 Forstner Bit
    Not a very difficult build but it is time consuming.
    Thanks for watching!!!

    ONLY ONE CONCERN USING THAT GRADE OF WOOD OR ANY PINE SPECIES, SHOULD HAVE CONDITIONED THE WOOD BEFORE STAINING TO ELIMINATE BLOTCHING, OTHERWISE, GREAT JOB..

    Popo, I am new to woodworking. At the 10 minute mark you make the depression for the shot glasses. What tool is that? A drill press? And which bit did you use? How do you ensure the depth is consistent on each spot?

    • @PoposWoodworks
      @PoposWoodworks  3 года назад +2

      Yes it’s a drill press. On the drill press it has a depth stop. You can set it and it will only go down to that point.

    Do you think this design can be modified to have a plexiglass door, and maybe some LED lights on the inside to light it up?

    • @PoposWoodworks

      Absolutely, that wouldn’t be hard at all

  • @ScoobySnackOG
    @ScoobySnackOG 4 года назад +1

    Really solid design. Just wondering if you had any tips of a way to create the holes for the shot glasses without owning a drill press? Thanks!

      Don't know if you still need this answered, but I would build a little thing to keep the bit upright and just use a normal drill. So, imagine this crude drawing here represents a small wooden arch that is sized to fit around the shelves and it has a short section of PVC pipe in the top to keep the bit upright. Put the bit up through the PVC before tightening it into the drill. Hope that helps!

      @@allenlewis5689 yeah that helps! Thank you! I have already made it and just kinda put my drill up as well as I could close to a 90 degree angle. Still looking to invest in a drill press pretty soon tho

    how to did you secure the top and bottom board? Just glue then then clamp them?

    • @PoposWoodworks
      @PoposWoodworks  2 года назад

      Yes sir, just glue. I made sure I gave it enough time to dry completely before moving it around.

    • @PoposWoodworks
      @PoposWoodworks  2 года назад +1

      Honestly I can’t remember lol, and I sold the piece so I can’t measure the hole for you. I just held the bits up to the bottom of the shot glass to figure out which one worked best.
