- George Takei's hilarious response to anti-gay bully Clint McCance, former Arkansas school board member who called for more gays teens to kill themselves. (The views expressed here are those of George Takei and do NOT necessarily reflect those of the Trevor Project.)
George Takei is best known for his role as Sulu on Star Trek on both TV and film. He has appeared in NBC's "Heroes" and is currently a spokesperson for Sharp TV and a regular guest announcer on the Howard Stern show. George will star in his first Broadway role in 2012 in "Allegiance"--a story of a Japanese American family during WWII and the internment.
Mr. Takei is the grandfather you don't want to make upset, not because you fear his anger but because the disappointment in his voice is enough to break a man.

I met George at a Star Trek convention many years ago. He was and still is a wonderful, compassionate human being and I am proud to count him among my friends.

As I've grown up, that crush grew into a health respect for your talent and appreciation for your activism. The 380 people who disliked this video, I don't really know if I can dig up any polite words. I don't want my children growing up to live in a society that tolerates such deplorable forms of social behaviour, and exercises diabolical, devilish morals in the name of the creator (if there even is one).

According to society today, "homophobia" is to have morals based on what the Bible says, which instructs us on how to live a good life. Since I am classified as "homophobic" (which I have no problem being), I certainly must have PTSD because I believe I should follow what the Bible says.

There actually isn't a single passage in the bible that condemns romantic relationships between the same sex. The Old testament only established that homosexual intercourse; the actual sex (man on man since when the old testament was written, society did not believe in lesbians) was a sin. The new testament condemns homoerotic behaviour; which was classified as sex for fun between members of the same sex or sexual entertainment. It condemned the Roman and Greeco-Roman forms of sexual entertainment people used to participate in, which was anal sex only. Hence where the word sodomy was originally gained from.
And if you have studied history, the banning of homosexual paedophilia (which I completely agree with) was a major step forward. However heterosexual paedophilia was actually widely encouraged and institutionalized religion forced young girls into marriages with older men. The life expectancy was significantly shorter so 7+ year olds were technically classed as adults, especially in medieval societies, where 7+ year olds could be held accountable for crime and hanged.
Homosexuality (as we know it now based on scientific and sociological research) is not actually documented in the new testament or old.
The only major religion which all forms of homosexual relationships are banned is the Muslim religion.
I don't believe that the old testament can be justified as moral material since it conflicts with my conscience as a human rights activist. It promotes slavery, domestic violence, rape, homophobia, racism and misogyny. I believe that it is a major travesty of the true intentions of God. And if it is the true word, I do not believe that worshipping God is any different from worshipping the Devil - they are just as bad. I hope the former is the truth and not the latter.
You shouldn't have a problem with other people's relationships, they are harmless and elements of a diverse society. Unless you have directly been abused or exploited in a homosexual situation and have a traumatic justification, it doesn't seem logical or ethical to peresecute other members of society. PTSD is a stress/trauma disorder based on a strong negative experience with a particular group, it develops into an actual condition called xenophobia. It's common in soldiers, rape victims and victims of domestic abuse and violence, terrorism survivors, torture survivors etc... The reason why I am suggesting that you might be experiencing a degree of PTSD is because opinions are largely shaped by experiences and do not understand where your hatred of homosexuality comes from.
And there are some members of society with seriously dysfunctional views of homosexuality, that are too extreme to be left independently without law intervention, there are lines that just can't be crossed and when they are, they are on the borderline of psycho and sociopathic.
I just feel it's a wasted endeavour, persecuting gays when the real enemies out there are groups like ISIS. We should be challenging real threats to our environment like global warming, since now that we are in a temperature freeze, thermal acceleration in our atmosphere will double when it stops, increasing the heat of the planet's surface, destroying the ice caps and plunging many major cities underwater. There are big problems that everyone should be working together to stop, yet society is divided and segregated by prejudice. We would be wiped out instantly if aliens ever invaded earth (not saying that an alien invasion is remotely likely lol), but as a pseudo-metaphorical example, we need a stronger sense of community.

And it breaks my heart when I read about kids who were bullied, regardless of whether they're gay, straight, whatever.
