Exactly We must awake to our awful situation (The most important below are 14, 16, 18, 20, and 25. Especially 14 and 25): 13 And it came to pass that Akish gathered in unto the house of Jared all his kinsfolk, and said unto them: Will ye swear unto me that ye will be faithful unto me in the thing which I shall desire of you? 14 And it came to pass that they all sware unto him, by the God of heaven, and also by the heavens, and also by the earth, and by their heads, that whoso should vary from the assistance which Akish desired should lose his head; and whoso should divulge whatsoever thing Akish made known unto them, the same should lose his life. 15 And it came to pass that thus they did agree with Akish. And Akish did administer unto them the oaths which were given by them of old who also sought power, which had been handed down even from Cain, who was a murderer from the beginning. 16 And they were kept up by the power of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of wickedness and whoredoms. 17 And it was the daughter of Jared who put it into his heart to search up these things of old; and Jared put it into the heart of Akish; wherefore, Akish administered it unto his kindred and friends, leading them away by fair promises to do whatsoever thing he desired. 18 And it came to pass that they formed a secret combination, even as they of old; which combination is most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God; 19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man. 20 And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people, and they are had among the Lamanites. 21 And they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi. 22 And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed; for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them and yet he avenge them not. 23 Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain-and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be. 24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you; or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up. 25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning. 26 Wherefore, I, Moroni, am commanded to write these things that evil may be done away, and that the time may come that Satan may have no power upon the hearts of the children of men, but that they may be persuaded to do good continually, that they may come unto the fountain of all righteousness and be saved. -Excerpt is from Ether 8 in "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ". @@keithfilibeck2390 Was discussing this with a friend of mine; What does school actually teach? In my opinion, it's just a way to train would-be-factory-workers. Don't question anything you're presented just memorize and repeat, which is ideal for factory work. Bells telling you when to change classes/lunches? That just evolves in to Breaks/Lunch time / Quitting time. After the 3rd grade I can't really say anything i learned has been "applied" Sure I know how to do algebra and understand sentence structure (verb/adverb/Pronoun etc) but none of that is useful at 99% of jobs. And those jobs that DO require such specified knowledge wants college-educated-level people. I understand that if you want to get in to Quantum-Mechanics having knowledge of algebra is a must have. But requiring every single student to not only take, but pass Algebra 2, just to end up at a position that will never use it, again a waste of time. Memorizing state-approved facts regarding history sounds cool in theory, but in the real world most of it's just surface level conversation topics at best. Nobody gives a single F*** who won the battle of 1912, or where Custards Last Stand was (Battle of little bighorn). When you apply to a job none of that matters. It's simply "Can you show up every single day, and accept poverty level wages?" There was never a single point where i was educated about just how cut-throat entering the work place would be. In hindsight, outside of being a glorified daycare; school was simply a preparation for lambs before the slaughter.

He should sue for unfair dismissal. He was teaching critical thinking. It doesn’t matter if he’s left or right wing because that didn’t come into the class. He broke it down with the student and the student critically analysed what he had asked. They lost a good teacher and this makes their school look bad.
@@dragons_redteachers can be fired for interfering in class with their political beliefs but thats not what happened here, here it seems like the teacher was just using the example the student brought up to teach the student a lesson on critical thinking. if it was the other way around politically, then he probably wouldn’t have gotten fired which means this was clearly unfair dismissal.
I think the reason why people were mad at her was because she was defending someone who was harassing a trans person in the work place and was fired for it. I personally find that bad because that trans person was being harassed and Rowling tried to paint their harasser as the glorias defender of humanity and all things.
@billmelater6470 Yeah, and that is stupid, but from what I have seen, she has supported and defended people against trans rights. It's our actions that define us.
Guy was literally teaching a kid to think for themselves and form their own opinions rather than just go along with the consensus. What a horrible teacher.
The teacher taught at least one person to check primary sources and try to understand what was really said, instead of taking out of context quotes at face value.
True, and hopefully many more students. I know this video is 7mo old, I hope he found a better job, and sued those mf'ers at the original university, idk.
Correct. In today's world, one "wins" not by being ethical, correct, factual, and logical... but instead, by outspending, outshaming, or outperforming them! If your opinion is more popular than someone else's silly little facts... then you WIN. No exceptions.
As a former teacher, we are told to teach children what to think. At Professional Development, we're taught what to think. I remember 2 years ago, I got reamed out for referring to my girlfriend at the time as my girlfriend and not my partner. I found out that referring to my "partner" as my "girlfriend" is homophobic and exclusionary. See, using a gendered term to describe someone close to me is non inclusive language and thusly, hateful. When I asked why I need to be inclusive when it comes to MY personal relationship, I was told that it could be triggering for someone who doesn't conform to gender norms, i.e. non binary. Naturally, I asked why they would care about when the term isn't even referring to them. The person silently glared at me, then went back to talking to all the teachers. To this day, I still don't understand, but people will still say its hateful, without providing any logical argument as to why. They are simply parroting what others have said, relying on their reasoning for it to make sense, never pondering on it themselves.
one misunderstands the actual purpose of our school system........ remember, the function of a system is what the system does. To think, well, our school system 'OUGHT" to or that it "SHOUDLD" do something, one is already engaged in mental gymnastics. Our public school system exists to reproduce political propaganda, this guy went against that.
Fired the teacher who was actually teaching. Amazing. It was a productive conversation and the kid learned how to analyze something and make his own decision. He can apply that thought process to ANY topic now. This is what we need more of.
he literally turned a useful idiot around and made him a free mind in like 5 minutes... that's one of the most impressive things i have seen in my life
That's why it's so terrifying for those who have spent billions and over a decade of time raising Mao's youth in America. Just like in China it's the young women primarily being used.
It won't happen unless people want to punish the system to the roots in future generations. They want most of the students in education to grow being docile students towards the system.

He was likely fired for being politically right outside his job, not necessarily for his teachings. He aligned himself with the Daily Wire for instance. Big mistake. If you want to come off as neutral, you're going to have to go on left leaning sites too.
The most likely explanation is that he's gone viral. Most places just don't want to deal with the sh*t that comes along with it (as well as them probably not agreeing with what he's saying).
it's wild how this video was actively removed from reddit repeatedly and reported on other sites, is it really such a danger to society to show a process of asking questions
Look at who and what is behind reddit and you'll start to notice some things. Certain people in this world have convinced the rest of the world of a humongous lie, and people with critical thinking, strong reasoning ability, strong perceptive abilities, and strong detection of discrepancies have already dismantled that lie. They don't want other people to have that ability.
The person that says "I feel like an idiot now." is the smartest person in the room. Knowing when you've been duped and admitting it is the smartest thing you can do as a person.
I think your almost spot on, literally they may not be the smartest but understanding they were wrong and accepting it without grief and with understanding and enlightenment instead is incredibly powerful. Anyone who can make that decision is equipped to make good decisions and have legitimate conversations. People struggle to admit they’re wrong nowadays and when I hear someone say “my bad I was wrong” or really any form of accepting responsibility for a mistake goes A LONG WAY WITH ME personally.
The smarter I got the more people hate me...I'm now jaded and mean. And it hurt my soul because I used to be nice to everyone. Shirt of my back type guy. Now I regard human life as pointless and feel most people have never paid the price for the lives they live.
He never said she wasn't transphobic, he never took a stance on that in the video. His whole point with the student was to critically examine the beliefs you hold against reality, and to measure your conviction in a belief against the knowledge you have. I'm so sick of people acting like not agreeing with someone else's position means you must take the opposite.
"Only asking questions", is the effective equivalent, you're playing dumb, or just are dumb. "What are we to do about the Jewish problem" "I'm only asking questions". This way of hiding behind "I'm only asking questions" is a very old trick by fascists.
Similar thing happened to my father years ago. He was a professor at a very distinguished university. He got fired for failing students who were caught cheating in his class. They were kids of rich parents. They didn't like that so they got him fired.
Yup. If you ain't rich, then you ain't nothin'. Health is wealth; might is right. Being intelligent, insightful, analytical, logical, and ethical are DANGEROUS in a world full of wealthy megalomaniacs in power. You can be societally erased with the click of a button. 💪😎✌️
The debate itself is immaterial - Whether Rowling is bigoted is irrelevant to what this man showed his student - *Form your own opinions after looking into things.* - He showed to the student "Take a look for yourself what the person actually said, does it differ to what you think? Does it differ to how people are painting them? Is their thinking unjust, unfair, illogical? If so, why? How do *you* feel about what they said, separate to other peoples opinions? Why would other people want to paint this person as X or Y?" - Critical Thinking is such an important skill that's being actively drained out of people.
It is really irrelevant whether JK Rowling is bigoted or not because of 2 things 1. It is her opinion. Like, no one can say their own opinion now? 2. She is not in politics. She cannot pass laws that would force others what she thinks so ANY of her opinion is irrelevant, same as every other people's opinions regarding that topic that isn't in politics.
Socrates was a teacher who taught his disciples to think for themselves, and was sentenced to death by hemlock due to "corruption of the youth." The forces that be don't want people who think for themselves--free thinking is anathema to tyranny.
At the very least, it's comforting to know that this isn't the first time something has been done like this and probably not the last no matter how terrible it is, at the very least today at most you get fired and not executed by poisoning.
If you rise to a position of power, the best way to stay in power is to make sure others don't have the same options you did. Crippling people mentally through school is one of the methods used to keep the lower class in check.
This is a common take, but not really historical. Socrates was convicted more so of impiety than “corruption of the youth”. Also the “corruption of the youth” wasn’t so much these darn kids are giving me respect but more “these darn kids temporarily overthrew democracy and established a tyrannical oligarchy”. Socrates and others got a blanket amnesty for their involvement in that, but you can imagine some people were a bit sore about the whole thing and might wanted to see him punished via some other charge.
It was also because no one at the time like Sacrotes. If you look at his arguement style, he never had a platform or a point. He would nvver answer questions only ever redirecting them in order to tear down the opponents stance. Socrates was a nay sayer, and everyone hated him for it. Thats the main reason they wanted him dead, but not enough of an excuse to execute him. Corrupting the youth, impiety, etc are all ways of saying, "he doesnt agree with anyone and he is a major wetblanket. Lets get rid of him."
The worst part is, he wasn't even explicitly saying that Rowling was not transphobic, he just said that, using those two examples that the student picked, that is not the logical conclusion that could be drawn.
That's how I took it, as well. He seemed to be waiting for the kid to bring the context of the Tweets into the conversation. Like what was Rowling talking about that was being "forced" on her? We never got to that point in the video shown. Without the context, we cannot determine whether the statements were or were not transphobic.
You know it's wild when people with authority more concern about pampering some pervert psychos who gaslit and abusing the system to get into woman space to targeting women, rather than concern about the safety. AND when they start to targeting kids, this whole thing is another level evil demonic.
He wasn’t saying she was or wasn’t transphobic. He asked him what he thinks about it is transphobic, the biggest issue is the topic honestly probably has nothing to do with the teaching he was doing. But rather he said something and posted something that could cause a lynch mob. The entire thing he is teaching against.
My government class in high school literally banned all topics that they deemed controversial, and that was pretty much everything. People can't have productive conversations in the education system anymore. College used to be better because parents weren't complaining, but even that is starting to deteriorate. Thinking for yourself just isn't accepted in society today.
@@austinblackburn8095 That's terrible especially for Government, Civics, and history. If there's any class that needs to have controversial topic it's those classes. But yeah. I taught math. It's so much bullshit coming from administration. From lowered standards to classroom management.
It's super depressing to see a teacher getting fired for discouraging lynch mobs by teaching people to think for themselves instead of attacking people over what other people say. This is like a death knell for western civilization if we're outright firing teachers for teaching children the basic concept of rational thought and discouraging jumping in a lynch mob solely because other people are doing it.
The lynch mob is whats keeping them afloat, if people stopped hating twitter would die, news cycles would die, and people would be self employed. Lynch mob is rule by fear.
Exactly. It's absolutely nuts. He didn't even give his opinion of the accusation. He just explained how this kid should think for himself in a way that made sense. Instead of just agreeing with a group of people who are clearly vicious, because they can't see how their forcing their ways onto us is not how society should be. Jk didn't say any bad either. I hope this teacher sues this school. And All because they don't have the balls to stand up to bullies who go on the attack for nothing and call it homophobia. It's seriously getting out of hand. Hope the UK doesn't get to this point.
It's clear what they want to do and are doing to this generation of kids , don't listen to teachers that tell you to think for yourselves just do what you're told or you'll end up just like this teachers , throw out on the street .

This is a lesson from an IT guy, people - do NOT conduct personal business on work devices! The company is entitled to take it away at any time, especially when you get fired. IT people can wipe the device without notice once it is returned. No matter what lawsuit he may win after, he will not get that data back as it was never his device. As an IT guy, trust me on this. If you really have to conduct peronal business on work devices, at least invest time in backing it up or creating cloud accounts so that the data is more transferable and synchronised, and get a password manager. IT can take away the device physically, or block and wipe it remotely, and even block the account. You need to have an alternative means to access your data.

i just had a teacher like this (taught business ethics), he would play devils advocate against any opinion we had, regardless of how fucked up it sounded. first day i had him, he was arguing FOR necrophilia and i had to argue against it. he of course had his own opinions, but he would never say them until the topic of conversation was long over because he didnt want his thoughts to influence our reasoning
I didn't quite have that but I had a teacher that basically spent one class feeding the students subtle propaganda about the current political climate at the time. At the end of the class, he told everyone he was lying the whole time and feeding us propaganda, and then taught us how to spot the lies and realize how any person in a political debate can and will use "facts" and present them as if they were actual facts. It was a very eye-opening lesson, and I'm so thankful for having that class, years later.
I had a hardcore libertarian social studies/politics teacher like that, he was open about that position but he didnt go with the state mandated "socialism = high tax low freedom - liberalism = low tax high freedom" tier terrible education on the subject, he took things we said seriously and actually for once defined marxism correctly, unlike our history teacher who went "marxism is when you hate jews and want to steal everything"
I remember we had a new history teacher come in and it was the first lesson on Germany 1918-1945 and he was talking to us really quietly about the quality of life in Germany in the aftermath of WW1 and as he continued talking he got louder and louder and none of us knew what the heck was going on, until by the end he was standing on a chair and gesticulating his arms wildly. After his "performance" he then explained that was how ... what's a YT friendly way to say this? AH? Yeah, that's how AH made his speeches, going from quiet and reserved and then upping the tempo as he went. Great guy, great introduction to the topic. We all did very well in the exams.

19:01 Ex-teacher here. Teaching public school is the worst financial ROI. Teaching how to think did me in. Got so much shit for not just giving kids the answers. Wore me down and eventually was given the ultimatum to quit or be moved to middle school.
Public school is not planned to create stoics, but puppets of the system. Sadly, the private schools with prohibitive costs can provide these answers, with a more Stoic approach to education and a better preparation to the ugly and unwelcoming nature of the system and the society in the adulthood.
Yeah dude I have a friend with a masters degree. Struggles to find jobs, works in education and makes like 30-50 k a year. I have a high school diploma. I was always in gifted programs, same for my friend. First day of college, I was asked to write down my preferred pronouns. Long story short, I walked out, rescinded my loans, and never went back. Later I joined a large police department, became a detective, made 100k with a take home car, in a southern low COL state. Worked high profile cases. Never had debt. All before turning 30 Education is. Tough business
Yeah seriously, people don't enlist to be teachers for fame and money and this guy actually has some passion left in him to teach kids something, so they threw him out, ridiculous...
Ive seen this even when i was in high school in 2010. They try to tell you what to think not how to think. Dropping out and pursuing a high school equivalent that was self education was the best decision i made
I was lucky to have a teacher in high school like this. At one point they wanted to make us students sign a paper saying we wouldn’t bullying, and I objected to it and questioned the need for it. He supported me and my classmates and encourages us to ask questions and critically think about things like this. Ask questions like could we legally sign something like this, is there a need for it, what are we to be held liable with and what is even considered bullying per their terms. I went to a small school, everyone knew everyone. My graduating class was like 12 kids. There wasn’t a need and it was something being imposed on us from the new principle. And I never had to sign it. People should be encouraged to think critically and find their own perspectives. That’s the power of diversity. It’s not about the color of your skin, which is what people today are being told it is. Diversity is the difference of opinions based on experiences and cultures etc. what these people do is fear that and fight against it as if their life depends on it.
i guess we all have this kind of teacher once. but in the end, the teacher who shows to the internet that teacher like this is exist are problem. the school or the system (?) doesn't want other teachers get motivated by this kind of teaching.

So glad I dropped out of college in 2012. Perhaps those Doomsday December 21 2012 was a spiritual kind of end of the world scenario in which the hate speech out of this campus was beginning to get recognized by the masses.
I had alot of teachers that I would give alot of credit to when I was in school but jesus christ I wish I had a teacher like this. I'm not saying that my teachers wouldn't teach us ways of thinking and deconstructing ideas and statements but it was a lot of the time in regards to very tame subject matter that isn't directly applicable to everyday life, or at the very least didn't exercise/train the process of thinking critically about real world shit in the way this guy is doing. It was always the standard stuff like writing about a movie or a book y'know, I really wish I had a teacher that got into real shit like this. It probably would have saved me some time in terms of learning to think for myself by myself and growing into my own opinions. For example, I think I heard this on a nerdrotic stream and idk how true it is but it was said in an article or study that people generally go from left to right as they get older/wiser and fuck if that wasn't my exact experience, I used to be a little sjw twat but I'm on the total opposite end now. I used to put a lot more stock into online discourse/mob mentality in regards to politics or general opinions on things I was interested in because I assumed that everyone's view had inherent value and that people that are older and more experienced than me would generally be right about their opinions and statements and that everyone had something I could learn from, and that's not to say that isn't true because being able to recognize and learn from something negative or wrong is incredibly valuable aswell. I, as asmon says, used to let other people think for me because I assumed that I was stupid and naive and that If alot of people shared the same opinion, that it would generally be correct, I guess I was right about being stupid, just not in the way that I thought. That was before I started to realize more and more that 8/10 people are fucking stupid at best or insane at worst and what they (anybody) say needs to be evaluated on a case by case basis every time. This guy is/was doing great work that would seriously benefit his students and society at large if his method was more widely used by other teachers, productive and useful doesn't begin to describe it, I would describe it as absolutely necessary to healthy mental, social and societal development and the first chance I get I'm going to try to teach my much younger siblings to think like this because they probably arent going to learn that from school, as I pretty much didn't. You only have to look towards the people that get duped by companies like disney into defending bad products like their lives depend on it because they were so easily manipulated around a social issue to see why this method of teaching and thinking is such a good thing for young people. You can easily extrapolate that example to more consequential subjects than entertainment such as politics, whether it be global or local. The world would be a different and better place if everyone had a this guy in school. This man was not just doing his job but doing it extremely well and you can tell that he cares about the mental development of his students and has a passion for what he is doing. This is beyond sad, its irresponsible and outright malicious to not let this man teach this way of thinking to his students. ------------------ *****Edit: I'm not even 10 minutes into the video as of leaving this comment but listening a little bit to him talking about losing his job makes me so fucking sad, as far as the computer stuff goes, I would have gotten law involved if I had all that kind of private information on a machine that was stripped from me, at the very least to the extent that it's ensured it isn't used or accessed by them and disposed of, if there isn't at least the possibility of him cleaning up his own shit and taking possession of his writings and work. That shit isn't okay, none of it is okay, but that especially. You can tell they're being bastards to him just for the sake of it, someone has something long and slender jammed up their ass.
@@jonathanstone4878 Which is stupid. How many teachers get fired for being obviously biased to the left? Whey should go to right shows by your logic to appear neutral but they do not. Because the schools are biased but like to pretend that they are "neutral".
My daughter informed me last week that when she presents a project at school with a classmate that they are not even allowed to use each other's names, but HAVE to refer to each other as partner and that they get in trouble if they do use names. I told her to keep using names if that is what she prefers and that the school does not get to tell her how to speak. This is an elementary school up here in Canada. Needless to say I have a meeting with the principal next week for my daughter not using partner when told too.

Theres nothing our schools hate more then someone taught to critically think instead of just following the cult 100%. I'm surprised this teacher ever had a job to begin with in the USA today.
Im from Germany, and our schoolsystem has been nearly the same since Otto von Bismark implanted a, for his time, revolutionary education system. That was during the industrial age, meant to teach children how to be efficient fabric workers, and I hear the US education system is a fair bit worse than ours so that tells you all you need to know
The flip-side of the coin is that because they're NOT thinking clearly, you can use that as an exploit to lead them into a nightmare of a "legal trap" !!! ...that is... if you know the "Rules of the Game" in advance, and hence, which "rule" to invoke for that particular situation !!! :P
Thinking is difficult in the sense of coming to terms of what you truly can't do. We all lead lives by deluding ourselves because the truth is painful. You're only useful to someone until you aren't. One of the most powerful things as much as I truly hate it is someone's perception is their reality. Even if it has nothing to do with anything. I guarantee if you could watch your own life be recorded it's scary how not accurate our recollection of events actually is. We polish up a memory that may or may not be true or might be partially true. Also, how much of yourself is real if you don't actually remember things correctly or truly have an ability to comprehend things? No one wants to admit they are wrong. No one wants to admit their memory and other things are fallable. The brightest person in a room is sometimes the individual who truly realizes how little they know. But also come to the realization very few people are special and really don't know as much as they think. Thinking can be paralyzing if it consumes your life. If you don't have the power to make a difference. I think the sign of a times is people being buried for actually thinking. It's simply easier for the masses not to think due to the actual consequences of stopping and thinking.
Yup. Thats why religion exists. Ahem "God works in mysterious ways" "Its all a part of the divine plan" "God exists beyond our minds we can't criticize him or test him hes beyond us" 100% agree. 75% of the world pleads ignorance to super natural forces.
to be fair, thinking can get extremely difficult. level 0 is like thoughts popping into your head and just going with them without further analysis. the commonly misunderstood 'natural selection' comes to mind: whatever persists, keeps propagating -- if people can survive without thinking much, we will continue having a lot of people who do just that.
thinking is tiring and time consuming, so it's not entirely illogical that most of the time, people just react rather than think. but for critical moments, it is better to think than just react
There are 2 lessons here. 1. Think critically and through things before reacting to the mob. 2. Always have your personal and professional items separate. You lose everything when you have to turn over your work device.

The single best experience I had in college was in a philosophy course with a professor who was my polar opposite in moral framework (Deontological to my Utilitarian). I had some of the most amazing discussions with him even though we diverged on approach to almost any topic you could pick. Some of the most productive and gratifying dialog comes from both parties having an open mind and being willing to think critically. Very sad that he was fired for this as it's exactly what young people need to learn.
At my Uni a philosophy course was required and I LOVED it. I think everyone should take one that challenges their own position on things, it’s really important
that's how i felt half a year ago when I was ... "deleted" from a company i used to work for 3 years, because a manager wanted to powertrip for me saying out loud that they're wrong and that another more skillful and experienced manager than them agreed with me. And instead of solving the problem, they "solved me" as if I was the problem for voicing that they were wrong. People really dont like being called out.
Tbf you were undermining your leader in public. I dont gave any context but from what you have described the appropriate thing to do would be speak to him privately and also not appeal to authority as that is taken for an obvious attempt to create discord amongst management.
@@paul-antonywhatshisface3954 A leader doesn't respond to criticism by getting rid of those who have another idea or who have criticisms. If the idea is dumb, then it should be called out as such, respectfully of course. A real leader would respond to the criticism by either presenting the points which make the idea a good idea or by understanding the criticism and adapting the idea to get rid of the bad parts. The only thing that manager taught the employees is that dumb ideas shouldn't be stopped before they get initiated because his or her ego is too fragile.
I think you’re both right. While a good leader would ideally act in a way that benefits everyone and the company, we don’t know if there were confounding factors that played into the managers decision. Maybe it was necessary.
@9:58 That person has misinterpreted it as an argument when none were made. The teacher was not asking whether JK Rowling is or is not transphobic, he was just helping the student to understand what the student believes. They were so obsessed with who was right they missed the forest for the trees.
Imo the problem is that whether someone is right is not even relevant anymore. The only question people seem to care about is "Does this help our cause or hinder it?"
The guy does have a point though. Basically, what if, instead of the teacher being a good teacher and teaching the kid *how* to think, he actually used the kid's stupidity, or just nitpicked that specific conversation, and *_purposely_** posted it on **_RUclips,_* to make an argument, that supports a political agenda, more convincing than it really is, under the guise of teaching critical thinking ? I do agree there's not enough evidence to prove that ulterior motive, but it's definitely likely, and maybe it was revealed to the school's decidors that this is exactly what happened, or anything similar to that. If so, them firing the teacher for using the kids for ulterior motives would be a reasonable reaction. Maybe the video was all staged, it certainly looks so. Maybe he's also using the whole situation to hop along the mainstream right wing media and politics to point fingers at the "woke left wing universities" that oppose their right wing conservatist agenda. We don't know what really happened behind curtains, the intentions and interests of each involved party, the fact they wanted to pay him to remain silent is weird as well, maybe that's even made up as well, but there's certainly more shit to the story, that we'll probably never know about. If the person at 9:58 is missing the forest for the trees, maybe you're missing the trees for the forest. Look at the greater picture. "You can't say this anymore", "you can't say that", "woke" this, "woke" that, you hear it all the time in the media, like it's everywhere. I still have yet to meet a single person, that's even just slightly as unreasonable as they like to picture.
@cromancer3219 it's easy to assume they're stupid or biased or evil when all you have is the "victim's" version of the story. Again, there's not much detail about the whole situation and we don't know what really happened. Here's one way this could've happened : The student thought the teacher was cool. The teacher has an anti "woke" right wing agenda (about half of american voters do, so it's pretty likely). The teacher wants to do a RUclips video to push that agenda. The student finds the idea cool, plus he gets to be on RUclips, and is okay to play out a prepared scenario to discredit the "woke". They make it happen. The video goes viral. The student will talk about it at some point, at least to his family or friends, anyone really, and the word gets out. People start to know about it, and to question the teacher's legitimity with that vicious approach. The story gets to the school's board. They somehow confirm the teacher's scheme, could be the student's or his acquaintances' testimony. Enough justification to fire him. The teacher then posts a video to discredit the school, twists the story and makes up some facts, like for example, how they _allegedly_ tried to bribe him to shut up, or omits whatever wrongs he's done, or frames things in his direction to make himself sound nicer. It's probably more complicated than that, it's probably not as blatant as what I described, but there's probably more to the story, that he willingly omitted or twisted in some way. There's an infinity of ways this could have actually played out. There's an infinity of ways where the teacher could be a complete ass and deserves to be fired. There's another infinity of ways where he did nothing wrong, and where the school's board are actually the douchebags. Just take the "victim's" story with a grain of salt, as people tend to depict themselves as the "good guy" or "victim", and the opposing party as "the bad guys" or "oppressors". That's just what tends to happen usually, and I see no reason why it wouldn't be the case here, especially because there's an underlying anti-woke right wing agenda that is very mainstream these days, and that would explain such behaviour. And, according to the guy who commented on stream about it, the teacher has an history of showing such convictions. I'd say it's very likely that he's not being completely honest with his depiction of the story, more likely than not, that's just what people tend to do, common human behaviour. I'm not saying he's being dishonnest, and that the school board was right. I'm saying, there's more to the story, and we don't know, and my perception of things pushes the likelyhood further towards him being dishonnest. And it is important. Because this whole story, like many others, is being instrumentalised for political influence, to change or reinforce people's minds towards a desired direction. Be more skeptical. Require more evidence. Show doubt. Think critically. Especially when politics (lies) are involved. They most of the time are, more than you would expect.

But fine, I get it, we can't give all our attention to every single thing, and I'm just a random guy to you. I understand if you don't really care, and it's totally fine (but then, why bother giving your opinion in the first place ? What's the value of your opinion if a 2min30s read poses such great difficulty to you, or if your convictions are so shallow that you can't even indulge in a 2min30s read to defend them ?).
“You let other people think for you.” I love that sentence. And in most of the cases, I think the reason behind that is you don’t have anything in your head to think with, that’s why learning is the key to become an independent mind

Warren's appearance on Jordan Peterson's podcast is a must watch. He wasn't [or doesn't think at least] fired for "teaching kids how to think" or "pushing back against the trans narratives" or whatever, it's actually much more interesting than that. He was teaching at what was basically a "problem kid" school, all of the problem kids got sent to this school, and, as a result of that, the school wasn't exactly operating in the fashion that they're "required to"(he wasn't being critical of how they operated), so they REALLY didn't like the attention that he was bringing them. [rough paraphrasing; again, gotta listen to that podcast, he explains it much more thoroughly of course] Obviously they get into quite a lot besides just this topic, definitely worth the listen if hearing what either one has to say interests you.

13 And it came to pass that Akish gathered in unto the house of Jared all his kinsfolk, and said unto them: Will ye swear unto me that ye will be faithful unto me in the thing which I shall desire of you?
18 And it came to pass that they formed a secret combination, even as they of old; which combination is most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God;
19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man.

As a former teacher, we are told to teach children what to think. At Professional Development, we're taught what to think. I remember 2 years ago, I got reamed out for referring to my girlfriend at the time as my girlfriend and not my partner.
It is really irrelevant whether JK Rowling is bigoted or not because of 2 things
1. It is her opinion. Like, no one can say their own opinion now?
2. She is not in politics. She cannot pass laws that would force others what she thinks so ANY of her opinion is irrelevant, same as every other people's opinions regarding that topic that isn't in politics.
Cause they don’t want you to think
Someone found out he leaned right-wing. The rest is just a setup to get him out of the leftist system.
Facts
Because they don't want the next generation to have critical thinking skills. Much harder to control people who have those skills.
Socrates was a teacher who taught his disciples to think for themselves, and was sentenced to death by hemlock due to "corruption of the youth."
The forces that be don't want people who think for themselves--free thinking is anathema to tyranny.
He could have fled easily but decided to die for the truth thinking that this will change the future for the better. What an idiot. ^^
That guy didn't even understand the teacher wasn't trying to win the argument he was trying to test their assumptions.
He didn't even say that, he let the kid come to that conclusion

18 And it came to pass that they formed a secret combination, even as they of old; which combination is most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God;
19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man.

School is for teaching. Just like bullying, what kind of lesson u get it depends on you , but u hate to experience it anyway
In the US the school is for brainwashing you to vote for one or the other political party and prepairing you to pay insane ammounts of money for useless education.
in reality (and in the rest of the world) school is for indoctrinating loyalty to the state in a new generation, this has been the goal since we invented education, more loyal citizens don't riot and cause money losses
"To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize"

My high school teacher got fired for this similar thing. She taught us what we actually needed to learn for the real world and also gave us the freedom to study and learn a different part of her own made lesson plans. Everyone loved her and we all learned tremendously important things to help us as young people about to step into the world.
I had a math teacher like this! She was amazing! She always said, college isn't for everyone, we should be helping students figure that out and proceed accordingly!!!
She taught us how to balance a check book and basics about a budget and saving! She is the sole reason a group of us that really struggled with geometry graduated!! Thanks Mrs. Williamson!!!
Perhaps freelance teachers ought to be a thing. A sort of combination and development of tutors and home schooling.
Can you be more specific on what she was fired for?
She was loved by everyone and protected by none of her students or parents, what a tragedy, if we don't do anything for those who do good things and we love then we are a bunch of cowards

I used to work as a teacher. My bosses never supported me, helped me with students or tried to listen to me. However they would change grades behind my back (even when I had the 'receipts' of why some students deserved a certain grade), they never wanted to give a grade below 60 even if the assignment was completely undone, and they let students get away with a LOT of stuff (student pushed a member of ADMINISTRATION up against the lockers, but nothing happened to him).
I love education, I want to help children, but greedy people care more about shareholder money than teaching students.
a cousin of mine had that happen to her (Changing grades behind her back), so she redid the grading system in her class. everyone got 60% for signing their name. everything else on the test was the rest of the grade. she got fired for giving half her class a 60 (that's right, half the kids couldn't even bother to do the tests)
What a world we live in
@arizona_anime_fan I don't understand, 64% and under is an F, what is the purpose of giving a 60 vs a 0?
@@why97359 I had the same question and asked it to my boss. They would say, paraphrasing here, "If the students have an 'epiphany' later on and want to do better, then they can make up the grade and still graduate".
Not even kidding. And because of this mindset, 2 students of mine who did absolutely nothing through the entire school year, no turned in assignments or anything, passed because my administrators allowed them to.
@@arizona_anime_fan I was fired from high school teaching job as well, in Arizona. Because I did the same thing. Districts are funded by the state/government based on how many students are sitting in those desks. They are also funded based on their Grade Rating of the School and District. The more students fail the lower that Grade Rating lowers. The less funding that District gets.
If you were to read or grade the students papers, it's pretty bad. Our educational system is failing our kids. I have no hope for the future of this country honestly. There are plenty of good teachers out there but the bad teachers outweigh the good and the system goes against anyone who has free thinking for both students and faculty.
I no longer teach and went back to what I did in the military before teaching. I make more money doing it. My kids also go to charter school. Public education is no longer feasible.

Here's one way this could've happened :
The student thought the teacher was cool.
@cromancer3219 Brandolini's law : it takes 10000 words to correct the idiocies said in a few.
Too _long_ to _read_ ? Too _lazy_ to _think_ !
I don't think whoever can't _indulge in a 2min30 read_ has enough intelligence to _form an opinion on a subject_
It would be slightly slower to read than type that it's too long to read...
The system wants slaves , not thinkers
He should sue for wrongful dismissal.
Sadly the American system doesn’t allow it, everyone says sue but not everyone has the money TO sue
Even if you had the money to sue, you are going against a board of lawyers that have been working with the school and state for decades. Who do you think you can hire that will have the balls to stand up to them, let alone the foundation to win a case when the entire state is against you?
@wild5851
There’s more money in the “if I don’t win your case, you pay nothing” model because they charge a percent and are incentivized to go for more money.
But ok
@@MuDkipzCHancelLOr that's called pro bono right?
@@MuDkipzCHancelLOr And who would take that deal when they know it's unwinnable?
" I don't have any opinion on it bc im a mindless robot"
To be fair, he just barely read what she actually wrote. It’s not crazy to wait and think about it instead of immediately forming an opinion and expressing it to a group of people.
To be fair, he is teaching kids. Most of us were idiots as kids, but easily influenced. This is why what he was trying to do is SO important. Because once you learn enough about how to think this way, you are unlikely to ever stop. But if you are left to follow the masses into your 20`s and 30's... well I`m sure we all know a few people like that.
Just protects himself from judgement
We basically watched him turn the robot into a critical thinker.
It was kind of beautiful.
@@Tazazak naw man thats the problem the kid never really read what she wrote he already had his opinion based on what other ppl said about her so it didnt matter much what she said. thats kinda his own fault at least he realized how stupid he was after he walked him through it.
[rough paraphrasing; again, gotta listen to that podcast, he explains it much more thoroughly of course]
Obviously they get into quite a lot besides just this topic, definitely worth the listen if hearing what either one has to say interests you.
Thanks. Just what i was looking for. Any updates.
