I am finding there is A LOT you can do with many embroidery files in Silhouette! I recently got into Foil and purchased the Foil Quill. I have taken embroidery files to use as "single line" sketches and made very pretty foil designs for cards or even with markers. I saw another video where someone used the sketch function for a embossing marker/pen and then used embossing powder for a card. Possibilities are endless. I've been a Silhouette user for 12+ years. Finding more time to create now that kids are older. Having fun learning all the things this machine can do that I've never used it for. I still only have the Cameo 3 in 2024!!
if you have sew what pro, or maybe even some of the other embroidery software, but i know sew what pro for sure, you can save the applique as a jpeg or svg. Then open in silhouette, and then cut them out.
I recommend adding a small offset to the cut file before cutting to insure that your satin stitch catches the fabric. I believe that the the cut line represents the outline of the tack down stitch. When you cut in the hoop, you cut outside of the the tack down stitch, which yields a small amount of fabric outside of the tack down stitch.
You can actually use the Silhouette Studio to import all kinds of embroidery designs (not just applique). I have opened up full embroidery designs in my silhouette software and then lasso to group, then size the way I want and then I can print it as a sublimation. There are all kinds of things you can do with them other than embroidery.
YES!! I did not get half way through the video before I was jumping down to the comments to say this! I have not tapped in to even HALF of what we can do with all these files, programs, etc.... but I know we are capable of so much MORE when we combine the abilities with one program into that of another! Wonderful that there are people to help us along the way. Learn your machines and the products that are helpful with them.
I have a Cameo 3 and a Janome embroidery machine. I will upgrade so I can do appliques. What I really want to learn is how to cut felt fabric, as I want to make some quiet /activity books for my very young grandkids. I know the Cameo 4 has a rotary blade, but I want to use cameo 3 successfully. I haven't been able to get much help with this task.
Hi Margie! For cutting felt with the Silhouette Cameo 3, you can use use the deep cut blade set to a 20, speed at a 3, force of 33, with two passes. - Dawn 🙂
Thank you so much I’ve been wanting to buy a silhouette for my crafts and embroidery appliqué you have answered all my questions in just watching a handful of your videos 🙏
OK this video is great but what I need to know is how to flip my design and download it on to my flash drive. I'm doing a camper, truck design but my truck is facing the wrong the way (the camper hitch is facing the front of the truck). Please help
Hey Joyce, we don't have a video on that just yet, but I'm hoping to collaborate with an embroidery friend in the near future. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I have an embroidery design that actually has 3 of the same item in it. I want to be able to separate the 3 so I can move them closer together and get more of them on the page to waste less vinyl but can't seem to get it to ungroup. Have the designer edition plus.
Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Brittany
Hey Rebecca, I haven't tried this but I believe it would work. Just save it as an SVG and import, and resize like you mentioned. I think you are onto something! Hope this helps! ---Becky
I really like your videos. You have an easy teaching style. Just one request though. Could you stop referring to us as “guys”? I’m a woman and I’d bet the majority of your subscribers are. Pretty pretty please?? Thank you.

How much of an offset do you suggest

Hi there! We're glad you stopped by and we were able to help answer your questions.
Wonderful! Finally someone showed us how to do this!
“Better quality fabrics” are called Quilters Cotton and have 60 threads to an inch (30 vertical and 30 horizontal) if I remember correctly

Omg, for real? Every person I know refers to friends, family members & groups of people in general as "guys". What is this world coming to? SMH...
Thank you for teaching this. You can call me anything you want. I appreciate YOU! You’re an amazing instructor. I appreciate all your honesty.
