I tried One Book July a few years ago, and it was fun and illuminating, but I couldn't do it now - I have a system that works for me, and my brain is happier having things split up by context. I also don't journal in my planner, as I want to keep my journals indefinitely, and having them cluttered up with random to-do lists just annoys me!
Gosh, I love the idea of using your tiny notebook as a wallet with your metro card pass inside, and scanning your notebook! I live in Paris and am going to try that with the Pass Navigo. Thank you!
I did OB July as well... I was using a Hobo Cousin as daily planner + Bujo as 2 separate "notebooks" and merged back to one. I also challenged myself to use just 1 color (black) and no stickers or Washi tape. I still used my google calendar and a notes app, as I didn´t want to change too much at once. To my own surprise it felt like coming home with just having to carry around 1 book all the time. The color thing: I hated it for the last week, but made it trough. Now I enjoy using different colors and sticky notes as it feels right and love it. So for me it was a simple but needed challenge which tought me that I am more a bullet journalist than I guessed in advance.
I also cannot journal in my planner, so "one book" anything for me always means "condensing my planning into one book and my journaling into one book". Personally I consider that in the spirit of the challenge, as for me the main draw is just to reduce "one thousand notebooks syndrome". Which I definitely sometimes fall victim to. 😆 [Edit for typos, oops fast fingers.]
I did One Book July, starting out in Google Calendar and a pocket bullet journal. I quickly moved to a Charmed Life Master Planner to keep everything as GC gave too much room for to-do's. I couldn't keep up. I learned that bullet journaling in a defined space made me more thoughtful in what I tried to accomplish in a day.
I ❤ your Taylor nails 💅🏽 My daughter painted her nails the same way when we went to the concert in July! I showed her your nails and she recited all the albums 😊
I never heard of One Book July until this year, actually! Someone had recommended that I try One Book August, but I already had several spreads setup plus when I do try it, I want to be part of the community event so we can all share our successes/woes, lol. Kudos to you for also trying to not use the digitial tools, despite how tough it was for work-related tasks.
Rachelle, I am really enjoying your videos. You approach planning so differently than me, which is totally interesting as you are opening my eyes and mind to how I could adapt my planning process. I use a disc bound planner, every so often I look at the Sterling Link but not there yet.
I'm currently searching for what my best friend says is called "Planner Peace" by the community and your videos have been very helpful with my thinking process. Thanks for publishing them! (Loved the nails, too. Had no idea the nails were a Taylor Swift thing, just thought they looked fun)
Hello, even if the little notebook and pen are not the star of the video, do you mind me asking what is the brand and size of the notebook ? I will guess moleskine pocket ? I've been on the hunt for a little notebook and pen and never used the Hitec C. But seeing it next to the notebook, they are perfect for each other. Thank you.
Yes it's moleskine pocket! the pen is Hitec C, but I'm not really picky about what pen I use in that notebook. I do love a tiny pen for a tiny book though 😂
I’ve been doing a bujo with the Midori notebook. Just monthly and then if I have a very busy week I’ll make a week spread randomly but I rarely have that, and I journal/doodle in it as well. Is it chaotic? Yes! But I am a bit more consistent in using it every day if it all is in one.
I do journal in my planner. It's my bujo, planner and journal. I don't like having a bunch of books to carry around. I work long days and a few over nights in a week so my bujo goes everywhere with me. I did have more then 1 and it was just to much so I down sized it. So I guess basally I do One Book Every Month. I did try digital and wasn't a big fan. I can't have it open in front of me all the time so I would tend to forget to check for things I needed to get done. So I moved back over to paper.
Hey I wanted to ask, I also use a planner journal combo but the planner usually stays in my room but if in future if I have to take it with me like what to do about the journal pages? Especially if it contains personal stuff?
Congrats that you made it, mostly! Good exercise in getting planning down to the essentials. I'm already pretty much in one planner plus 2 digital shared calendars, so no need to make a formal try. I was intrigued by the 'little black book' Is it a Leuchtterm? Thanks for the enlightening video, as always!
Rachelle- I’ve been thinking I needed a pocket or passport size notebook and you described how you use your ‘lil’ notebook PERFECTLY And exactly how I thought about it helping me ! Which one do you have ?
I literally had no idea this exsisted 😅 I literally cannot break away into more than one book because I’m terrified of doing it but it’s interesting to see how you use other systems in other books. I journal in a a5 Moterm with rings and can probably be broken into about 5 or 6 different books. 😅
Hi, Rachel. Do you have a common place book? I think your weeks is just like that, right? I’m a bit confused about common place book and journal. Sometimes I write useful info in my journal but it’s like a chaos in my journal. I’m so confused about how to combine them and organized in one book.
Hey hey, love the video about your july :D was confused as i saw your eisenhauer matrix till i realised you changed the important and urgent axis xD. Most of the time i use only one book, not more as two (but i change books to test sizes) at the moment i have one TN regular as planner for work and private and an selfmade nano size one for micro journaling. The nano one is always by my side because of it's size it fits everywhere (even in my jeans pockets - for women not usuall :D ). And for very stressful days i have a noteblock with eisenhauer sheets. But these i use only for a week or so in a quarter so i guess this doesn't count :) - keep up the good quality of your vids!
Thank you so much for commenting! I realize I did trip up the usual setting of the eisenhower matrix haha. But happy someone else finds it useful and I personally LOVE that someone else is getting use out of a jeans-pocket-size microjournaler!!
@@RachelleinTheory you're welcome :) I know you did already a video about your pocket journal but maaaaaaaybe you could do a video about the micro and nano sizes as well? I don't know how many people know about these sizes, so for comparisen it could be a topic? Just a little thought from me to put an idea in your head ;)
Well you cannot fail what you did not attempt. I knew that I could not do, nor will ever do ‘One Book July’ I like to keep aspects of my life compartmentalized. Why should I jump on a trend bandwagon. This is the autist in me. It is like having the mashed potatoes touching the meat on the plate. No I am not one of those people, I do not care if anything touches. However, my planning, if I cloud my work planner with home and personal stuff, then I lose what I need to remember with my work. This is the ADHD in me. I have not commented on the last two videos, but I did watch them. I am trying to do your bi-weekly planning this month. See how it goes in my cousin. I will just continue the weekly in my EDC Weeks. I ordered a B6 common planner, and an A6. I will probably sell one. I will see how I feel once I have them in my hands.

What do you use if you don't mind me asking?
Yesss I feel that about journals. I'm so happy you have a system that works, that is beautiful ☺
Gosh, I love the idea of using your tiny notebook as a wallet with your metro card pass inside, and scanning your notebook! I live in Paris and am going to try that with the Pass Navigo. Thank you!
I switched to a disc planner and have different sections to hold everything. I love that I can take out or put in pages as needed.
People love discs!! I'm glad they work for ya

I didn't even know One Book July was a thing😂 But I've been planning and journaling in my bullet journal for about 3 years now and I love it!!

Yes the 1000 notebooks hahah. I think thats what i need to do going forward, have a main planner and a main journal and call that good!

Thank you!! A one book challenge can definitely be done any time during the year but it is kind of fun to do it with everyone :)
I have a bullet journal and everything is in it, I journal in it as well so lengths of days changes depending on how much I write.

First thing I noticed was The Eras nails! 👀 Thanks for the update on how your July went!
I'm so proud of them 🥺
Love your daily pages!
Thank youuuuuuu

Ahhhh to be helpful in someone else's journey towards planner peace!! This is so nice. Thanks for commenting (and complimenting the nails!)
Is it possible for you to share with me WHAT that BEAUTIFUL cover is? That green is just *chef's kiss*
We appreciate your content. Keep up the good work.
Maybe I should try this

Wow, you are really talented at sketching...wish I had that skill.
It's a skill so you can definitely build it! I drew a lot when I was a kid and I'm trying to get back to it now.

New-ish follower here! Have you ever shared somewhere your favorite prompts/topics to journal about?

I have sticky notes/flag for diff things. I.e recipes will be flagged a certain color, quotes I randomly read or heard will b another color, etc.

Great advice, also, cute nails
Love your nails!
I couldnt possibly combine my planner and journal into the same book. It just throws off my entire archiving system.
I’m 100% positive I know what you got your body care notes from 😂 same
I failed after 2 days lol. Maybe next year I will try again😂

There isn’t a way for me to have one book. I have several interests. They would not fit in one book that is also supposed to be functional.
