You didn't have Jim Rockford's Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in the list - but you are more than forgiven by including the Ford Falcon Interceptor (and if you want to see a documentary about one, I recommend Love The Beast - Eric Bana talking about his ownership of one (his first car!) and his journey to turn it into a racer and compete with it in the Targa Tasmania rally)
The only problem with the Professionals was when ever they needed a car the got in touch with the local dealership and they kept sending random cars and was hard for them to keep continuity in the series. LOL😀 I've worked with you Ben and i can definitely see you in the full Mad Max leathers at Shipley Fox's Corner traffic lights in the Interceptor.
A great selection. My mates first car was a beat up 2 door Cortina mk3 with the S&H paint job. The magnum Ferrari 308 was actually extended to help Tom Selleck fit in it. My number 1 would be the Ford Consul GT from The Sweeney which has been fully restored.
I thought KITT would have been number 1. Drop you off at McDonalds in the morning, go and chase the scumbags all day and put them in prison, then pick you up again at the end of yo...it's shift. Surely a traffic coppers wet dream, no? 🤠
I had an ex police SD1 and it was nuts. No power steering and strangely no collapsible steering rack, it had what looked like a length of scaffolding pole instead. It did have the vitesse 4 pot brakes though. I also noticed it had the reg number engraved on everything, wheels, battery etc
Grampian Police had a Rover SD1, it was featured on the restoration show "For The Love of Cars" and was bought by the Grampian Transport Museum. People famously said about it that they couldn't relax until they saw it going the other way 🤣
Definitely got number 1 right. I remember watching the first film for the first time around 2007/8. I had no idea what Mad Max was, but it on late on BBC2 and my Dad said I should stay up late and watch it, so I did. Still one of my favourite films ever.
An honourable mention would be the Mk4 Vauxhall Astra from The Bill / Hot Fuzz, Ben didn’t you use one and enjoy it? 😉😉😉 such a chuckable car and long lasting panda car👌🏼
In regards to the Miami Vice Ferrari debacle, the producers originally asked Ferrari if they would supply cars to the show, Ferrari declined the offer as they didn’t think the show would be a hit, so the producers decided to use Ferrari Daytona replicas(based on a C4 Corvette). The show was far more popular than Ferrari thought it would be and were horrified by the replicas, so they then offered to provide Testarossa’s under the proviso that all the Daytona replicas were to be crushed.
I've always associated the Rover SD1's as the Metropolitan Police using them through old cop shows such as The Bill (pre-1991 Burnside era) and Dempsey and Makepeace (ITV/London Weekend Television 1985-86), I do know that West Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Police also used them though. Greater Manchester Police (the force area where I'm from, hence my username) used the later Rover Sterlings around the tail end of the 1980s and throughout the 1990s to the best of my knowledge. Oh, the Jaguar used in Inspector Morse was commonly used by armed blaggers during the 1970s (most notably in The Sweeney) and Manchester and Salford Police used them in the 60s!
🇦🇺 yeessss.... With the falcon and Aussie auto dead for 5+ years that made me smile. Oh and the switch actually was functional on Max as the blower was connected to an electric motor in the (stunt cars) because budget restraint. You know as a movie wasn't cheap to make back then 😅.
Great list of cars here, and when it come to the Ferrari that was used in Miami Vice, i seem to remember that it was only the character of Crockett that was seen to be driving it. Maybe Tubbs was not so good behind the wheel, so he would always be in the more standard dept. car.
Back in the mid 70's my brother sprayed his old Viva E coupe with metalflake paint and a white the stripe as per Starsky's car... thing was they never had a colour TV so was a bit miffed when he discovered the car should have been red not blue !!! Ben, you didn't include the old Vauxhall Senator 3.0 24v - used to see stacks of these patrolling the motorways back in the late 80's early 90's
I arrive hime from work crack a beer and burn a herb . RUclips open ben uploaded 3 minutes ago. . Perfect timing . And o agree. Channel 5 give the man a series or amazon because i live in Netherlands 😂❤
For the MadMax car, a flick switch supercharger is doable using an electromechanical clutch like some of the modern on demand 4x4s do. Nissan juke, dacia duster skoda Octavia scout.
What a great video, ben ...my favourite TV cops car has to be the Morris minor 1000 out of heartbeat ...lol just kidding, it was The Ford Granada out of the Sweeney .....
Alternative List... #10 to #2 are in no order. Barnaby Jones’ 1973 LTD. Cannon’s 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. McMillan & Wife’s 1953 MG TD. Mannix’s “Roadster,” a 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado DIY convertible. Simon & Simon’s 1982 Camero convertible. Kojak’s 1974 Buick Century. A Touch Of Frost’s 1987 Ford Sierra. The Sweeney’s 1974 Ford Granada. Life On Mars (UK)’s anachronistic mash up Ford Cortina. #1 Car: Columbo’s 1959 Peugeot, with super non-turbo charged basset hound. Thanks for making videos eh.
Can you clarify for me, are you retired from the Police or just a retired Interceptor?. I've been binging Interceptors/Motorway Cops/Ambulance/etc shows on RUclips but i think they keep getting blocked (I haven't got any tv channels, RUclips is my entertainment)
I'v never watched Mad Max 😂 but I remember all them cars, albeit you missed KIT should have had KIT we all wanted a KIT 😂😂😂 (them that are young look up Knight rider) keep these videos coming Ben 💙💙💙
Great list Benji buddy but u forgot KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) from knight rider...defo deserves a place on the list and let's b honest the hoff was the man wasnt he!!!...Imagine that hair on your head Benji!!!...😂😂😂
Miami Vice - I'd have taken the Ferrari Daytona replica over the Testarosa, soft top and, being a replica, usable, because you wouldn't be worried about pranging it as much. I agree with the number 2 position, not the fastest, but great cars and it was the machismo that went with them from the series.
Surely Magnum doesn't qualify as he's not a police officer, surely he should be replaced by Jim Bergerac who was a detective sergeant for 9 years followed by 2 as a private investigator. Regarding spenders RS cosworth it was stolen from the set , the TV company etc replaced it and employed a guard to watch it on a night. Towards the back end of spender he replaced it with a Merc 190 2.5 cosworth. Speaking of Cosworths in 93 I bought a 2 years old J reg Cavalier Gsi 2000 my colleague bought an H reg Cossie the same week. In 4 years I had the GSi my workmate had 7 Sierra Cosworths and his last been an Escort Cosworth.
Could dropped crockofshit & tubs for a Sweeney Granada. Doyle had a Marina van before the escort😂 No Buford T Justice Pontiac LeMans? “What we have here is a total lack of respect for the law” “And that’s nothin’ but pure and simple old-fashioned Communism.” - Buford T Justice 😂😂😂😂😂
Didn't the police use the SD1 in the transportation of the human organ into London, can't remember when it was (possibly 80's) but I was very impressed by their driving, and I think it killed a few of the vehicles involved.
Much respect for police. They do a great job I got done for failed to stop and dangerous driving. Me believing in the past all police are bas*ends. I found out there here for our safety when I needed them they are great and do the best they can. I was a bellend in the past and I admit that I realise now it's for public safety. They are trained I am not. I am due to get my licence back and I respect and hate when people drive like a idiot but you don't think or feel that when your driving. Police are here for our safety. If they disappeared from the planet we would all be f**ked. Police are hear for safety I wasn't respecting that when I was a but younger you realise when actually caught if not then you shouldn't get your licence back at all. I have a extended driving test and I'm due to join the army shortly. Police has helped me since and are polite and respectful. The way I see it swings and roundabouts. You treat them and laws poorly expect them to be mad. If you do what laws ask they are respectfully and 9 times out of 10. They treat you and prosecute you respectfully. If you have no respect you get none in return. Even when I was a idiot they said was a mistake and you will learn for next time. All I have to do is PULL OVER. Laws are not hard made me change my ways I got banned for 12 months and a extended retest that's all punishment I needed to learn my lesson. I made a mistake and I believe need good role models which I had as parents and that's my leason learned. Others who don't care should be banned for life. I made a honest mistake could of ended badly. So I believe my punishment was fair for someone like me. People like ben when I saw are respectful and will be honest who is a tosser and who is wrong makes you think. I'm from Scotland. I believe 20 or 21 to drive as people like Ben says don't appreciate life or know the dangers as I didn't. I would love to explain to Ben one day and have a talk and maybe make a video or something on road laws and what you should do and not do. NEVER BE UNINSURED I HATE THAT. People should be respectful to police there public sectors same as hospital staff. Would you call a doctor a scum bag or a pig. No they try there best and help you. Same as police. Police help us for crimes and keep roads safe and people safe I had a rocky past but I was young and dumb
No. 8. Respect to the 'Liver Run" traffic officers doing that in an SD1 or two i think? Your reaction to their run would be a win mate ❤
I remember that on a Police Stop vhs back in the day. Was impressive then an very much still is. Infact I'm off to watch it now I think
@@poolyboy81 I am going to watch it again tonight
The only problem with the Professionals was when ever they needed a car the got in touch with the local dealership and they kept sending random cars and was hard for them to keep continuity in the series. LOL😀
I've worked with you Ben and i can definitely see you in the full Mad Max leathers at Shipley Fox's Corner traffic lights in the Interceptor.
So glad to see the Sapphire Cossie make it here!
My dad hat a 3.0L GXL Granada from 1974, so the Sweeney Consul has a soft spot in my heart.
Great call on the Mad Max Interceptor, I fully concur with your choice.
My number 1 would have to be the Ford Consul from The Sweeney.
Great video, but you forgot the ford consul 3000 GT from the sweeney......chasing MK2 jags around London 👍
I thought KITT would have been number 1. Drop you off at McDonalds in the morning, go and chase the scumbags all day and put them in prison, then pick you up again at the end of yo...it's shift. Surely a traffic coppers wet dream, no? 🤠
Same, great choice!
13:45 "Can I have 12 bottles of bleach please"
Faisal - Four Lions 😂😂
Sorry Ben. The Sweeneys Granada should have made the list, and Jim Rockford's Pontiac Firebird. Also what about the car Columbo drove 😂😂
I had an ex police SD1 and it was nuts. No power steering and strangely no collapsible steering rack, it had what looked like a length of scaffolding pole instead. It did have the vitesse 4 pot brakes though. I also noticed it had the reg number engraved on everything, wheels, battery etc
Best no nonsense cop I've seen on interceptors.
The Professionals Bodie was ex Para & SAS, Doyle was ex Met.
Please excuse anorak mode. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like how the intro music is practically identical to that of Alan Partridge's _Crash Bang Wallop: What a Video!_
Grampian Police had a Rover SD1, it was featured on the restoration show "For The Love of Cars" and was bought by the Grampian Transport Museum. People famously said about it that they couldn't relax until they saw it going the other way 🤣
Ben you description of not just cars but also the shows was hilarious channel 5 sort yourself out defo BEN needs show
Definitely got number 1 right. I remember watching the first film for the first time around 2007/8. I had no idea what Mad Max was, but it on late on BBC2 and my Dad said I should stay up late and watch it, so I did. Still one of my favourite films ever.
I would have gone for Jim Rockfords Pontiac Firebird, Loved my Dads SD1.
Love the list. Couldn't agree more about your #1!
An honourable mention would be the Mk4 Vauxhall Astra from The Bill / Hot Fuzz, Ben didn’t you use one and enjoy it? 😉😉😉 such a chuckable car and long lasting panda car👌🏼

Spat my tea out when I saw the Rover, great list apart from that. Absolutely loved the Quattro and testarossa.
Ben the bounty hunter, Give the man a show!!!!
Bad boys 1/2/3 Porsche turbo Ferrari and Porsche 911
great list! I'd have put Michael Bay's 964 Turbo Porsche from bad boys at no.1
I've always associated the Rover SD1's as the Metropolitan Police using them through old cop shows such as The Bill (pre-1991 Burnside era) and Dempsey and Makepeace (ITV/London Weekend Television 1985-86), I do know that West Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Police also used them though. How does June Acklands Rover Metro from the bill not make the list?
🤣🤣

Maybe Tubbs was not so good behind the wheel, so he would always be in the more standard dept. car.
Totally agree Ben, love the mad Max falcon, nitro sucking beast!!!
The Pursuit Special, also referred to as the Last of the V8 Interceptors.
Ray Winston's Focus ST from the remade sweeney film which was really a 1 litre eco boost without ST badges
My first car was a capri 30s 18 years old I was in the 80s they pulled to one side good at wheel spinning
Back in the mid 70's my brother sprayed his old Viva E coupe with metalflake paint and a white the stripe as per Starsky's car... thing was they never had a colour TV so was a bit miffed when he discovered the car should have been red not blue !!!

Air operated clutch on the blower! Totally doable. Unfortunately on the movie car, it was a, hollow “prop” supercharger 😩
For the MadMax car, a flick switch supercharger is doable using an electromechanical clutch like some of the modern on demand 4x4s do. Nissan juke, dacia duster skoda Octavia scout.
Channel5. Give Ben a show. Thanks
Hey Ben!
Loved my rs2000. 😢
What a great video, ben ...my favourite TV cops car has to be the Morris minor 1000 out of heartbeat ...lol just kidding, it was The Ford Granada out of the Sweeney .....
Consul.
You should do West Yorkshire GeoGuessr to see how well you know the county from being a bobby. I get a lot of Bradford and Keighley on it.
Bit disappointed you didn’t mention the Ford Concel from The Sweeney…
Oh Ben! I wouldn't kick Phillip Glenister (Gene Hunt) or the late Lewis Collins (Bodie) out of bed for fartin'. Love the Mad Max car too xx
The mad max car is a perfect #1. I always wanted a group B spec Audi Quatro.

@ben Pearson
1970 Ferrari was the better car in my humble opinion on Miami Vice.
