Hadn't seen this episode until today and found it of particular interest because I made some indicators for my wife's bike 40+ years ago - but a somewhat different approach - for many reasons. Rear indicators, one attached to each end of a 400mm long arm, so they were much further away from the bike's centreline than helmet mounted ones. A vertical axis pivot (base attached to rear pannier rack) halfway along the arm allowed the arm to be rotated 90deg. so that when not needed, the indicator assembly could be stowed along the bike's centreline. Arm was positioned in either of the two positions (operational / stowed) by a magnet based system - this provided some 'give' if the indicators were hit. Standard Cmos electronics powered by 6v Nicads (4Ah) L/R operation via individual push buttons near to relevant rubber handlebar grips. Audible pulsed tone provided feedback that the indicator was working, unless the bulb was blown (current sensed through bulb) - thus registering a fault. Different frequency tones L/R Operation sequence - eg 1st press R starts, 2nd press R stops If R already active, pressing L will cancel R and start L, press L to stop L. It’s November 2018 now and Peter and Deborah have since pulled out of the investment. At first, we were shell-shocked. Why did they pull out? All the due diligence was carried out with no issues. So, why the turnaround? There were two reasons it seems. Firstly the BrighterBike indicator was not going to be ready for sale by Nov 4th 2018 transmission date but we had explained this and the viable reasons why, and secondly, and we think the more fundamental reason; we were told the Dragons team had looked at the TrafficAngel equity share the Dragons had asked for in the Den and it was felt they had been given too good a deal out of TrafficAngel. Their £90,000 cash injection for 15% of the business undervalued the company and therefore it could be viewed that Peter and Deborah were taking advantage of an already established business in which they had also made nil contribution.
His argument about the Dutch law is a bit disingenuous. Brake laws are mandatory for high speed e-bikes because they are similar to mopeds and have to use the road instead of bike paths in some places. Normal (e-)bikes have no such obligation at all.
They never paid him anything, plus the 90k was a rip off for 15% of a company making 400k pounds a year. “It’s November 2018 now and Peter and Deborah have since pulled out of the investment. So for 90k he’s given away 15% of his 1.4m business PLUS the new business. He got absolutely ripped off. They don’t care about the indicator business at all and used it as an excuse to get 105k worth of business for 45k each😂
Guest: "I have discovered the secrets of alchemy and can turn any material into pure gold as you can see by my demonstration here" Jenny: "I'm Jenny and for that reason, I'm out"
Netherlands probably has more bicycles per capita than any other country in the world, and has no bicycle helmet laws. They understand that a helmet is a poor substitute for proper bike lanes. Most countries force bicycles into traffic and tell them to wear a helmet.
"How did you get the idea?" Probably when he saw handlebar lights at a trade show. I got a set years back that attached to the handlebars and had the buttons on the handlebars 😂
I feel so sorry for Tej. He said "I'm out'' too soon! It wasn't his fault. Touker was seething. He probably brought the best offer. The only question was whether he had the capability to bring the businesses to the next level. Inventors have too much confidence in Peter as he always seems to literally ''steal the show''.
I don't agree that peter and deborah can bring that much to the business. He got really lowballed by deborah and peter. my man gave up 15% of an already successful business worth much more than 600k
Honestly, that offer of 10% in his profitable business, along with 40% of his other business that he came into the Den for.... absolutely beyond greedy and insulting. Especially when there were two other Dragons who asked for only 15% of the combined businesses.
I don't think it was greedy. His first business was pretty new and did not look promising in anyway. It was a high risk to invest in that business so to ask for 40% atleast then he would have had a greater chance at getting his money back. Then to ask for only 10% of his other business is really reasonable. It was clearly already a successful business and was a lower risk. Arguably i think his deal was the best one on the table in terms of equity.
@@NGMonocrom It depends on what the relative evaluations are of the two businesses. If the main business is more than 8 times larger/more valuable than the new one, then Touker's offer is better. (And that's if we pretend that they are equally risky because of course Touker would want a larger stake in the new business to compensate for the higher risk.) If we listen to his figures, the other company has a turnover that is 10x the projected year 1 turnover for the new business. Of course that doesn't mean that its 10x as valuable (that wouldn't be the case even if they had the same profit margin since obviously there are other factors to take into account), but I don't think that Touker's offer is necessarily as ridiculous as it seems and may in fact be a better offer financially speaking.
@@DylanNelsonSA Again, two dragons offered 15% for both combined. That's not relative. That's bare naked obscene greed, compared to 15% from those two other dragons.
@@NGMonocrom Let's say hat the existing business is worth A, and the new business is worth B. Touker is offering to buy 0.1A + 0.4B. The other dragons are offering to buy 0.15(A + B). Touker is only being more greedy if 0.1A + 0.4B > 0.15(A + B), which rearranges to become 5B > A. In other words, to claim that Touker is displaying bare, naked, obscene greed but that the other dragons are not, you have to believe that the existing business is less than 5 times as valuable as the new business. It *absolutely* depends on how valuable the existing business is compared to the new one.
Jenny - amazing invention, wonderfully crafted, your business is well run and your profit margins are high. Inventor - we do like our margins Jenny - I only use butter and for that reason I'm out!
my first thought is: bikes aren't big enough to require a light system, using arms is much more efficient because it increases the size of the area people are looking at. and using lights automatically assumes people have seen and acknowledged your intention, leading to making decisions with the thought that people know what you are doing, therefore putting yourself in potential danger
If his main company has $400k in the bank and they pay $90k for 15%, they just got 15% of his very profitable company + 15% of his new company for $30k. One born every minute.

“I’m not investing in that bike nonsense. BuT THaT OtHeR BuISsNeSs ThO!!
They VIOLATED Tej's nose 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jenny: What are you going to do with my investment?
Entrepreneur: Well, we hope to...
Jenny: Never mind, I'm out.
Touker - Smiles Coyly
Peter - Looks Skeptical
Deborah - Rubs here fingers together
Jenny - I'm Out!
Tej - kadaba
Jenny: I would want 25%
Inventor: we have a dea-
Jenny: I’m out
Seemed that indicators on helmet were too close for safety great technology could be applied elsewhere.
Guest: "I have discovered the secrets of alchemy and can turn any material into pure gold as you can see by my demonstration here"
Jenny: "I'm Jenny and for that reason, I'm out"
Well done Steve! Looks like you found your way - Big time! Since you worked with us selling phone systems for Systematic. Keep it up! Mick C.
Surprise surprise Peter and Debora team up again...
A standard dragons den pitch
they have fucked before
i'm from the Netherlands and I've never seen a braking light on any bicycle
We don’t wear helmets in the netherlands. 😅
Netherlands probably has more bicycles per capita than any other country in the world, and has no bicycle helmet laws. They understand that a helmet is a poor substitute for proper bike lanes. Most countries force bicycles into traffic and tell them to wear a helmet.
"How did you get the idea?"
Probably when he saw handlebar lights at a trade show.
I got a set years back that attached to the handlebars and had the buttons on the handlebars 😂
Poor Touker, he seems like a nice guy who wants to help people.
Toukers voice hit different 😂😂
I feel so sorry for Tej. He said "I'm out'' too soon! It wasn't his fault.
Touker was seething. He probably brought the best offer. The only question was whether he had the capability to bring the businesses to the next level.
Inventors have too much confidence in Peter as he always seems to literally ''steal the show''.
I don't agree that peter and deborah can bring that much to the business. He got really lowballed by deborah and peter. my man gave up 15% of an already successful business worth much more than 600k
What AMAZES me is that almost every presentation doesn't include numbers, sales, costs etc. It's just a fairytale without it
This should be peter and debra’s den.
Deborah might as well be a Peter Jones flagwaver
“Hello dragons”
Jenny interrupts,
“I’m out”
Pitcher,
“But I haven’t pitched yet”
Jenny swallows as she realises her mistake.
“On that basis I’m in”
Lol
@8:38 you have actually got a track record of a good "NOSE" I call it..
Camera shifts to Tej Lalvani 👀😂😂😂😂 I'm dead.

In comparison to what the other dragons were offering, yes; it was greedy.
@@DylanNelsonSA
Again, two dragons offered 15% for both combined.
11:19 that look Jenny gives the production team when shes run out of free water.
Jenny - amazing invention, wonderfully crafted, your business is well run and your profit margins are high.
Inventor - we do like our margins
Jenny - I only use butter and for that reason I'm out!
my first thought is: bikes aren't big enough to require a light system, using arms is much more efficient because it increases the size of the area people are looking at. and using lights automatically assumes people have seen and acknowledged your intention, leading to making decisions with the thought that people know what you are doing, therefore putting yourself in potential danger
I'd agree except for one key point. Can't see arms in the pitch black of night.
Why would he give away equity in his main business that he built on his own?
If his main company has $400k in the bank and they pay $90k for 15%, they just got 15% of his very profitable company + 15% of his new company for $30k. One born every minute.
