Interesting to hear these run in whoop, especially with the ESC-2030. We supposedly use that signal for HAZMAT here in Columbus, but they never run them in the signal on the Saturday tests. I'm waiting on the day we have to use it to see how many people go "wth, are they malfunctioning?" Nice video man.
my favorite video on your channel! the siren holds more than 10 400 watt speakers in the black shell covers, and the lights on the bottom are indicators to show that it's switched on. the lights were made by whelen also. thank you.
huh me too. These sirens are what the county I live in uses. When I found out they were made of plastic I wanted my mom to buy a weather radio for every room of the house. Places that use Whelen wps sirens must have a lot of money to blow..Every time a hail storm happens the sirens in that area that the hail hits has to replace the sirens. lol
its called whelen visualert they are pretty cool but I dont really see the point in them as you probably won't be staring at a siren in an outdoor emergency?
Ethan Davies Yeah. That's it. Thanks for correcting me. I think it might be for like if you're driving by with your windows down it will light up to show you it's going to go off. Or for siren enthusiasts to get the camera rolling.
We got these same sirens at the Santee Dam in South Carolina. My grandmas house is 3 miles away from the closest siren and she can still hear it when they test them.
I would say god dammit also if I were a thin piece of metal with a heavy siren on my head with 502,307 acre feet of water heading for me with enough preasure to tear a human apart in an instant.
My family calls me paranoid but I live by Caney River, a River running through two dams, Copan, and Hulah. I hear these sirens every couple of weeks and I can't help but wonder if Copan (The closest) opened the gates. Those dams are the only reason Bartlesville, Dewey, Copan, or Nowate exist.
My county does one "WHOOP" blast then steady one minute "ALERT" for the tests. "WHOOP" is done three times and a steady three minnute "ALERT" for warnings. Attack hasnt been used since the last run of the older sirens.
@@Kittenplayz Are you sure? Is there a site where I can find this information. Someone other told me the Signal lasts 60 seconds but it would be repeated für 30 times.
What is wrong with this tornado siren? It actually says "dam failure", it cuts off in the middle of the test, and If anyone didn't notice at the end, it started smoking. What is wrong with this thing?!?!?!?
TheMinecrafter125 lol the siren wasn't smoking. That's just how the test is it's not a long test it's a short test. It didn't cut off early. The smoke came from the building not the siren. I suggest you know what your talking about before making comments. This siren is perfectly fine.
It's a useless add-on to the siren called visualert which is basically a sequencer and some strobes They are useless because if someone is deaf, what's the odds of them looking up at a siren with strobes? It's almost as if the strobes are there for siren enthusiasts
I like how useless the lights are like what do they do? And don't say it's to alert people because everyone is going to hear the siren but like 5 people are going to see the lights
Xavier Savedra "Whoop" Signal is used in case a nearby dam fails. Other signals can be used, but this particular town/area uses "Whoop" for Dam Failiure. Otherwise, "Alert/Steady" would be used for Severe Weather, and "Attack/Wail" would be used for Hazardous materials/take cover. Whelen sirens do have other signals, i.e. Air Horn, which can be used for an All Clear signal.
They run on Panel boxes that control the siren (or radio controlled by the dispatch). They use different tones to Do different signals, or using the siren's panel boxes to sound different signals.
are dams have those alarms and me and my friend was going to kayak to the bottom of the dam to just be up close and we passed this sensor I guess and the alarm when off with that voice saying to turn around or law enforcement would be summoned lol.
Why did it say dam instead of the d word ? TO ANSWER ANYONE QUESTION ABOUT THE WAY IT TALKS , the reason is because if they talked normal than it would echo and it would make impossible so here what it is saying!!
Tyler Copeland Actually, the reason why I said that is because a 508 can't do whoop or hi-lo, now can it? ALSO, it can't broadcast voice messages, CAN IT?
nice it almost sounds like the imperial star destroyer alert in my town I have that sounds like that to every single month I have to listen to it which I kind of think it's annoying if you lived in my city you would hear that thing go off every 1 - 2 weeks which is so annoying.?! :-) :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

They use the same siren and tone in Gillette Wy
Here in Tooele, Utah they use whoop tone for tests, and specifically tests.

The whoop reminds me of the first tone of a multi-tone car alarm lol
Love the lights on the bottom.
ITS A DAMN FAILURE!!
LOL
😂
Cheetoisokay lmao imagine it wound up and it just went 1:22
The Chach it doesn’t need to wind up. It’s a speaker siren. Just a big speakerX
Popo@@stampycatfan01lol
Hey at least they tested the DAMN FAILURE WARNING SYSTEM
this is a test. of the dayum failure siren
This is only a test
That echo is godly!
is it also the dam tornado siren "this is a test of the dam tornado srien"
-sigh- really?
No, been there, different siren.
My alma matter
Its prob all warning siren types but this the dam failure version tested
Me: give me a damn failure!
My friend: *gives a dam failure*
In La Porte ,Texas, they test their siren system on saturdays with the "WHOOP" signal
Can I take some dam photos of the dam alarm?
Why does it sound like the flood warning siren in Australia

Is that a live person talking from the emergency management place?
Cook Nuclear Energy in Bridgman MI has a system of Whelen 2750s that have a whoop tone.
well, this is a "dam" good video. 😆
Noah Whitehouse ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Haha, I get the joke!
UberLukario you’re in a lot of these siren video comments
XD
Yes!! A fellow comedian!
When it does the whoop thing the echo is kinda scary.
It’s not echo it’s another siren maybe a mile away
What failed about the test?
damn, that echo is eerie.
*D A M F A*- Wait, wrong video!
I got a question. Where can I buy some dam bait?
0:12 Attention?
i knew menomonie had one! where is this located? there are at least six located between eau Claire and Chippewa falls. I may record one next summer.
Does anybody know where I can find some Dam bait?
Where is this siren's Location?
I bet the people who live in that location are laughing their heads off if they hear the announcer
Curios question. What are the lights on the siren for?
They're just on there for visual confirmation that the siren is sounding. Whelen calls it VisuAlert.
Joshua Brinker oooh ok! Thanks for the answer ^^
They really have no purpose because what's the odds of a deaf person looking up at a siren?
How long does the signal last in a real emergency?
3 minutes

bit rude, not gonna lie. I was implying that perhaps there was a problem with the panel of the batteries connected to the siren. thats all.
the cutoff is actually meant to do that. It's called whoop tone. www.whelen.com/mass/audio/Tone%20Wav%20Files/whoop.mp3
The Hockey Hub oh. ok then. i didnt know they did that.
SlayerGaming_TV It's called whoop that's why it's doing that and it end because that the end of test
What are the orange lights at the bottom?

Will it go off for a tornado warning?
the echo is insane on this!
im sorry i am cracking up i am subscribing to the channel

Oh, please no...
Tyler Copeland Actually, the reason why I said that is because a 508 can't do whoop or hi-lo, now can it? ALSO, it can't broadcast voice messages, CAN IT?
The city does, the dam siren is separate. The city's 508s replaced older ESC-864 era Whelens.
***** So, the dam siren system still contains Whelen sirens? If this is the case, then good,
Yes, this 2910 is owned by the company that owns the dam.
I thought the siren actually failed

I live in Wisconsin but I live in Cambridge
