The Eagle MK2 Review : A Bird of Prey? [Elite Dangerous]

The Eagle MK2 from Core Dynamics in Elite Dangerous is the first natural step-up in combat from the standard Sidewinder that every new pilot receives. It handles better and has more weapons, but is that all it needs? In this video, I go through my personal impressions on this little ship.

If you can engineer some enhanced thrusters, the eagle can pour on some SERIOUS speed, especially while boosting. There's a VERY short list of ships that can outrun a fully engineered eagle with improved thrusters. Makes it great as a small time smuggler or data runner; if trouble finds you, just hit the boost and you are GONE. Last I checked It's fast enough to avoid the initial shutdown field of a thargoid when interdicted.

Cytoscrambler works really well with this ship because of its ability to stick consistently close on the rear of your target. Rails, cannons, or missiles work well in conjunction for module damage once the shields are down.

The Eagle Mk2 isn't really suited as a second ship for the new player. When you're struggling with the controls, combat is not a very good idea.
However, come back to it later and you'll find it is very fun to fly. I even use it as an explorer, flown from my FC.

New player, people are recommending other ships than this one, but I still want it because it's THE ONLY ONE THAT LOOKS COOL to me personally, and I also like how cramped it is. The other ships just don't give me the lonely space cowboy vibe. Also, the better ships are 2+ seaters and that feels awkward as fuck when no one will ever sit in them.

If you don't it's sister ship the Imp Eagle looks the same with a spoiler on the back with imp white paint job and supports a size 2 slot on the top instead of the size one that being said it's not as agile as the MK2 eagle

The Imperial Eagle is one of my favourites for canyon running. Just for the speed and the sound of makes on boost. Literally sounds like the boot of a deity kicking it behind into fast mode

Thanks - I've started planning out that one, along with the Chieftain. Chieftain might come first though as I'm basically living in mine at the moment to fight the good fight against the 'goids

would like to see u review all ships like this, i guess but for small ones, i would loved to have seen Vulture and Viper before Eagles.... : )

Thanks - Viper III was the first one, but there will be a Viper IV in the pipeline at some point. As for what's next, Chieftain will likely drop next as I've got that scripted and just need to get a bit more footage (plus re-record the voiceover when I don't have a cold). After that though, there's no plan, so I'll start drafting something for the Vulture 👍

@@gamingsnipsandbits OH GOOD!Cos since i have been back, that series of 3 are new to me (just like my fav ship, the Krait Mk II), and so far i have only tried the Crusader (it's HARD to like any ship that doesn't allow Hangar now i'm spoiled w Krait) - but i'd like to know how Chieftain compares w Crusader..
