I really loved how they fleshed out minor characters such as Sarah, Frank, Bill, Sam, Riley and Henry, so that we can know and love them, and their inevitable deaths won't feel cheap.

I will say that Sarah in her all day episode before her death was very effective since she a girl who was mature and could been a great adult with full of life and hope even she's scared that she's still a kid and losing her whole Joel is a young dad is really heartbreaking since he gave up everything only for it all to be meaningless is sad since what cldve been if she's alive.
It made us connect to Joel and Sarah more only to ugly cry more. I wldnt say the game is sad it still is.

The cold opens that showed us a glimpse of the world pre infection were my favorite additions. The cold open to the season finally was my favorite. Great show, even better game.
I always wanted a prequel game that would focus on Ellie's mom. In 5 minutes, they gave a satisfying look at that perspective.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens in season 2. If it's anything like the second game, I'm not gonna be emotionally prepared for what happens

For the 2nd season of The Last of Us, I would want actors like Temuera Morrison, Giancarlo Esposito, Britt Baron, Cody Christian, Tyler Hoechlin, etc, and the game actor cameos like Shannon Woodward, Ashly Burch, Patrick Fugit, etc.
Jeffrey Wright reprising his role as Issac, the sadistic leader of the WLF, would be dope 👍🏻.

Wow! Yeeeeesssssss!! That completely changes everything because how different this live-action's storytellings are from the video-game version.
The most Amazing and Spectacular unexpectedly surprising moment that did NOT happened from the video-game version is the news interview on Television about fungus life-threatening revelation.

They chose Pedro pascal well for Joel espically since him and Bella Ramsey came from Game of Thrones... As I bet there will be a side by side comparison of Pedro death from Game of thrones vs Last of Us

My favorite change was changing Ellie’s first official kill to be David instead of one of the hunter guys. Felt more impactful imo.
Not sure why people keep saying Bill was "fleshed out" when what happened isn't what happened in the game. Fleshing out would be literally telling us how Bill got from point A when shit got wrong to his dispute with Frank, to Frank offing himself , and how Bill held it together until Joel and Ellie came around.
Fleshing out is Sarah's life before the infestation. Ellie with the fireflies, Sam and Henry. You dont "flesh things out" from shit that wasn't in the source material.
Facts. They screwed the story up, I already know part 2 is going to be an agenda shit show.

Imo and many others opinion, The last of us 2 was an incoherent mess with terrible pacing and sequencing of events. I hope they address the issues and tell the story in a much more compelling manner
@@nvm1636 Second this. It had good ideas but they were not executed that well. The show runners will have to tweak quite a lot in order for the themes to be more effective and less contradictory. I would also want the side characters to have more of a presence in the story.

In my opinion the way they flesh out bill and frank was great,as in the original game I always disliked bill and we never got to see frank as he killed himself

the reason why tommy become important is because in the game he was an ex-firefly with Marlene and Joel had a fall out with him with different opinions.

David is religious
Ellie wasn’t unconscious when the fireflies got Joel and Ellie
Ellie got the pistol early before the raiders part
Kansas City and no Pittsburgh
Tommy was in prison while he was not in the game
Ellie injured the guy who got Joel but killed him in the game
Ellie used a rifle to hunt not the bow
Joel gets stabbed with spiked bat
David is religious in the game too, it's just much more subtle. In fact, one could say he isn't religious in the _show_ version, because he is only pretending to manipulate his people.
Wrong
Ellie was definitely unconscious when the fireflies got Joel and Ellie. She almost drowned in the game, and they were caught when Joel was trying to give her CPR.

I wish that they didn't make any of these changes except for the Ellie school stuff and her mother because the game was so special that added in new stuff for the series is going to confuse anyone who played the games
Even tho I love the games I love how they build the story more than the games even the bill and frank episode I just wished Ellie and bill met with just the banter between them i wanted to see so bad

I knew Bill and Frank will be No. 1. Like literally the whole episode is dedicated for them. And love how they expanded their story despite us not knowing what kind of person Frank is. It takes a lot of courage for the writers to spend their efforts for us to watch their story and love them. And despite changing Bill's ending, I'm still glad they went with this route. Praises to Murray Bartlett and Ron Swanson for an incredible performance. Hoping they could make a spin off with them
Bill's story was actually nice. I'm glad they fleshed him out. I'm still kinda mad that he didn't say "Get off your ass and on your feet!" to Joel. Lol

So did I. That episode is even better that everything I saw in AMC “The Walking Dead” since season 6 considering that unlike HBO tv show, the writers from AMC “The Walking Dead” doesn’t even focus on characters development as their evolution goes nowhere.
Im still here wondering what was the point of changing the entire story of Bill, focusing only on a barely noticeable detail that he is gay and had a partner in a toxic and dysfunctional relationship in the game, and turning it into a completely detached and standalone ep about their now healthy and romantic love

Another thing that's not in the games: the almost complete lack of clickers, bloaters, runners...it felt like a human v human show in which Joel is taking Ellie to a hospital for unknown reasons. I mean we got a 75 minute love story, but crammed the final episode to 45 minutes. Stop looking at Emmy bait and use the actual threat.
The show did a great job of making me care about the minor characters. The show managed to make me cry every episode. Lol

Aside from the show's terrible pacing and lack of stakes like in the games where there are supposed to be a numerous number of infected and bandits, yeah, show is not doing too well. As for episode 3: we didn’t need for them to kiss. Completely uncalled for. It already told that in the game. Just another show trying to politicize another game. 🙄

It's to better set up the themes of season 2. Which if you played that game, you'd know that getting vengeance is a big theme that runs right alongsidenthe theme of 'people going to extremes for the ones they love both good and bad' that is present in BOTH THE GAMES AND THE SHOW.
Lol, you either weren't paying attention to the messaging of her plot or didn't play the second game, because it was heavy foreshadowing for the themes of what's to come in Season 2.
The only people who hated this show are just butt-hurt Nintendo and XBox nerds who are just jealous that PlayStation made a better Movie/TV Show adaptation than they did.

I never was a gamer & I'd never heard of the Last of Us before they released season 1. I don't care about the game whatsoever but the show was riveting I I can't wait for season 2. Bill & Franck episode was a great, gut wrenching love story, glad I didn't miss it

As a couple examples, it currently holds a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, is praised by the majority on RUclips and Reddit, and there are a lot of projections from the media that it will be nominated - and win - Emmys. So, please, don’t just blindly follow a rating exclusively from a site like IMDB.
