    It's the best "Last Kilometer" in the history of Eurosport. Very grateful. If Roglič doesn't fall, it will be another Vuelta for the Slovenian. Carapaz is not the best cyclist but what a big heart. Movistar's strategy was...? Second time Felix Gall is in the climb with the Australian and then leaves him alone. Are these team orders or does Ben prefer to race/lose like that?

    • @philippkoller3656
      @philippkoller3656 2 месяца назад +2

      Good question, maybe they try to keep both riders in the gc race. So if Ben cracks, they have a second option. And Gall seems stronger in the mountains.

      I think gall is actually stronger than o`connor i highly doubt the peleton would have let him go the way they did o`conner

    • @wesleybrooks1538
      @wesleybrooks1538 2 месяца назад

      Once the climb is over 10%, drafting doesn't matter. There's no way for Gall to help his teammate so he is free to do his own climb.

    • @7081_H

    If Adam Yates is struggling on a climb... you know it's brutal! And my god... the look on Mas' face when the camera was in front of Roglic... who looked perfectly fine and perfectly composed--while at the same time completely blowing up everyone behind him... Mas looked like a skeleton on wheels--a dead man riding--as he faded away behind Roglic--unable to hold his wheel any longer.

    Whew! Given that OConnor already gave up 35secs to Roglic on the opening 12km time trial, I'd have to think on the closing 24km that he could also lose ~45secs at the minimum. Maybe up to a minute.
    He has a razor-thin margin over the next 7 days to keep that margin above striking distance, especially looking at Cuitu Negru and Lagos de Covadonga but I don't think he is even still in Red after Covadonga, maybe not even after this Sunday.

    • @hopandsolo
      @hopandsolo 2 месяца назад

      35 x 2 (double distance) = 70 secs + greater fatigue by the faltering O'Connor by Stage 21 so easily more than that. I think 45 sec very conservative estimate but by then I don't think the gap will be relevant to red jersey winner.

    What a joke this dutch team Visma is.. that team died in 2023 Vuelta with the worst management in modern cycling that let social media decide the teamtactics and totally destroyed the final weeks big stages..
    Only reason Kuss won, was because of the massive gain on a early stage and then being on team with the two strongest riders..
    and it completely destroyed the logic, so now Kuss suddenly wanted to be a captain and he was promised Vuelta captain role..
    But its also Vingegaard fault from being a weak leader, he should be here, and take the Vuelta that he should have gotten in 2023 where he clearly was the strongest with quite a margin.
    but nope.. Visma had promised captain for Kuss in Vuelta 2024, and Vingegaard is home as he seems to be pregnant.
    You can make babies when you get older.. how many years do you think you have on top.?
    MOve away from this Dutch team.. that was horrendously bad at the Tour...over and over on the big stages, and particularly in the first critical half' it was Vingegaard alone with 4 to 5 UAE riders... hilarious level Visma delivered for the 2x TdF champ.
    Get away from this dutch Visma team, and then they can build around their future captain Sepp Kuss
    Kudos to Roglic that he could see, that the 2023 Vuelta mess, could not be fixed... Vingegaard should do the same.

      Visma is here to do what they’ve been doing which is winning stages.
      Everyone knew Kuss will not win la Vuelta so there is no news here.
      The only reason they lost the TDF is because Jonas could get get ready and anyone who expected him to win has gaps in their knowledge of endurance effort. I knew he wasn’t winning because to compete at that level for 3 weeks is no joke.
      I agree with Visma to leave home so he can recharge and get ready for next year.
      If Jonas is healthy, Pogo has no luck over 3 weeks
