The record for bikepacking the Tour Divide is help by the late Mike Hall and is 13 days 22hours and 51minutes set in 2016.
Lael Wilcox currently holds the women's Tour Divide record with a time of 15 days 10 hours 59 minutes.

I looked into the Flat Lines on the Race Flow.
Uba has 17 stops for a total of 46:46 (compared to a rest according to the run/rest of 46:29).
Justinas has 41 stops for a total of 52:11 (compared to a rest according to the run/rest of 53:56).
Then I sorted the stops into four categories:
a) sleep: more than 2,5 hours
b) resuply: stops at obvious locations to resuply
c) naps: stops between an hour and 2,5 hours
d) Roadside stops under one hour
Uba had 10 sleep stops between 3:43 and 5:10; every evening/night and he checked-in between 7pm and 2am; consistency. Obviously he also ate, showered him, the cloth and the bike, resuplied in that time, so it is not all sleep time. He had 0 naps.
Justinas had 8 sleep stops for a total of 31:50. Besides he had 5 naps for 7:11. 4 of the naps happened in the two nights he didn’t sleep.
Uba resuplied 7 times for 2:18. While Justinas resuplied 11 times for 7:31.
Uba had 0 roadside stops! Justinas had 17 for 5:39. What I encountered was that a lot of these stops where in the early wet and cold days; while the later ones where at obvious places to get or to filter water. Seems like Uba doesn’t need to take a few moments of shelter from the rain and doesn’t need to filter water. What is his water capacity.
And it seems like brushing his teeth is not the only bathroom activity he is doing on the bike. And it seems he had no bike maintenance and repairs to do except for those he did during resuply and sleep stops.
Allmost all of Justinas’ additional stopping time comes from quick roadside stops. I do these kinds of stops all the time on my very slow and for fun rides and they are part of the fun. But I wonder, do they add any rest in a race situation or do they add mental stress, if you think, quick I have to do a,b and z and then back to the bike?
Interesting breakdown. I’m not a racer but for me quick stops when all day on a bike help reduce or not have saddle sores. Maybe Uba’s setup more dialed and he carries more stuff instead of proper sleep kit compared to Justinas.
Cool analysis! It's like pitstop strategy affecting the outcome of a race. Both men - all the men and women - are total beasts.
I really enjoy you adding excerpts from the riders. I'm glad that they are taking time and energy to upload those audio snippets.
Man, it sure seems like Uba has more in the tank...like he's ready to pull an all nighter if he has too. The Nobo group reported that the new dirt section south of Hachita is pretty rough. That could be really interesting when they get there. Thanks again Josh!
Thanks Josh! Your daily reports are really great. This saves me a lot of time and the essentials are summarized in a compact manner. Ride on!
Amazing reporting once again. So cool to get the POV of the competitors. Thanks!
Love your work. Thanks for doing this for the cycling community!
Eh Josh, Thank you for your updates. Love them & coming from you the analysis means something more & gives a fan the best insight we can get.
i have a feeling that Ulrichs and Justinas Voice messages were more intended for each other than for our information ... playing mind games with the opponent ^^
Thanks for the updates, Josh! I can imagine those that are through WY are happy to be out, that place can be such a void even with four wheels! Amazing to see the women out there absolutely crushing, keeping it consistent and strong. Also the best to hear Mateo patch in on this vid, love that guy. Thanks for keeping up, and all the best to everyone on the road. Allez!
Thanks Josh! Great job on the updates! ✅✅✅
Thanks for doing these! I just binged watched all the updates.
Thanks Josh, the updates are on point
In the Run-Rest-Stats it says Justinas rests more. But if you look at the dots more in depth you see, that Justinas has a lot more roadside stops (may it be for napping or the one we had on your update in the Post Office in Basin, Montana) and needs more time at gasstations, while Uba has the longer night-stops and all/most in motels. I think he is more efficient with his stops, while Justinas is more chaos driven and therefore more flexible.
I still don’t think Uba will cut down on sleep entirely, because a) he would assume to pretty immediately get slower and b) his recovery after Tour Divide and before Colorado Trail would prolong.
I think he would like to stay in Cuba and Pie Town. Maybe if the heat kicks in he would do the big tarmac stretch from Cuba to Grants at night, but then he would sleep longer in Grants over day and than ride to Silver City and sleep there again over day.
If Justinas stays to his game and doesn’t get broken mentally or physically (or weather or mechanical), will win and get the record.
And yes it is crazy to argue wether it’s best to sleep one, two or three nights while crossing through New Mexico. I would prefer two weeks 😅
I would say they rest pretty much the same sleep wise and then Justinas do more random stops for food and supplies, which is also add to some rest time which gives some marginal gains in speed.
Added to all this good 'stop time' info, it's also really interesting to note that Justinas is averaging 11.2mph vs Uba at 10.5mph. They both have the ability to cut out more sleep so it will be very, very interesting.
Great job on the coverage, Josh👍🏻!
Love your updates, thank you.
Loving the updates 🤘
Tour Divide goes on for so long you can also enjoy watching Josh’s plants grow. Great coverage as always 👍
some grow... other just seem to die regardless of what I do to them!

Great stuff! Im watching every day. But what you mean about 1 speed? the riders only have one gear? Thanks in advance
Yes, they have one gear for climbing and for riding the flat, for tail- and headwind, for all different terrains. Those riders are really pushing it
@@egalegal2058 Amazing! Thanks
Ulrich has been really strategic. Blowing by expected stops like Brush Mountain. Justinas can't afford to stop too long. Solid by all
Good job Josh, I am for Ulrich
Let's go Justinas!!!!
COOL HOUSE PLANT!!!😂
Would it be possible to not jump from map zoom and pan so many times quickly? It’s hard to follow .
It's getting interesting.
My money is on Uba!
Going to grab my scissors now!
I know the gap is too large. I wonder what if LTD starts pushing his pace to close the gap in New Mexico kinda like Steven and Joe Nation tried last year just to make things spicy
Anything can happen still, especially if it rains in New Mexico
Yeehaa
dude you are awesome! thank you for the coverage 🚵♂
