he installed the rain diverter to high on the downpipe. Once the water butt fills .. it will overflow. Your diverter needs to be level with the water entry point on the butt.
Indeed you're correct, and he should have used a round diverter instead of one designed to fit square drain pipes. When the water butt is full some water will overflow from the top of the butt and some will come flying out the top of the diverter (I'm speaking from experience here after making these silly mistakes myself)
jon mcgarry is quite right! Dreadful instructions with incorrect levels, and sticking hose fittings together with solvent or glue is awful as they often need to be separated from the downpipe to remove any moss or leaves that have found their way into the pipe and blocked it (crochet hook is useful for this). Fitting a butt with these instructions will bring tears to the eyes as it's irredeemable!
Yep, Jon Mcgarry is correct. The level he has fitted it at is far too high. The first cut in the pipe should be about 10mm BELOW the very top lip of the Water Butt, and then cut enough out of the pipe to fit the diverter, usually somewhere around 30mm below the first cut.
Tommy do us a favour do not take any notice of any of these people leaving silly remarks about how to do this and how to do that for those of us that try a bit of D.I.Y we find your advice very helpful. After looking at your trade secrets I try and have a go myself saving a small fortune in times like this your vidieos are very welcome thank you and please keep posting
You have fitted the diverted to high, the water butt will over flow.

Yes the connecter is too high and also he has the stand the wrong way round. Totally wrong way to fit a water butt
