I always found Kazuya to be more difficult than Devil. Once he got going with one of his 395837 hit combos you were done.
Devil is a pussycat compared to Kazuya
Yo WHAT!? Sheddie Irvine?
You're not wrong, Devil is a bit slower and more predictable than Kazuya, not to mention has ironically less moves.
Yo it's Jimmy! Didn't know you were also into Tekken (:
I just love how they keep trying to one-up each other. Kazuya down a cliff, Heihachi down a cliff, Kazuya down a fucking volcano.
Wow 1st comment after 8 years lol
Next Heihachi will get tossed into the sun.
FUUUUN FACT.
Did you know, That Katsuhiro Harada, the creator of the TEKKEN franchise provided Law's screaming noises when he attacks.
i read this in caddys did you know voice lol
Didn't he also do Yoshimitsu's voice in the first three? I could be wrong though...
E24K Lawson Don't get me started on voice act- TOO LATE!
YEs he voiced Yoshimitsu until Tekken Tag Tournament. Guess what else...
People always say Kazuya an Jin are similar to Gohan and Vegeta from Dragonball Z, Well Jin' English voice actor in SFxT also played Adult Gohan in the Ocean dub of Dragonball Z, and Jin's Japanese voice actor is the reason we had that WRYYY! meme in the old days of the internet.
Mashudes Tekken 2 was the best.
Mashudes He only did it for the first three games though.
he fought the law
*puts on sunglasses*
and the law won
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
HOOYEAAAAAAAAAAH
Best. Tekken. Ever.
The music, the gameplay, the backgrounds, the characters, less juggling than later Tekkens, the bosses, the brutal moves that all truely look and sound like they hurt a lot, I could go on and on. I'm playing the game for 20 years now and it never gets old. I always choose survival mode. It has the perfect difficulty balance (gets hard fast) and also the small amount of health you get back is just right.
Sure it lacks the sidestep, but a backstep does the job too.
The soundtrack to this game oh my god. Yes, FFVII and MGS are two of the top three of all time but if this isn’t the third someone’s doing something wrong. Every time I fight Michelle and Jun in arcade I let them beat me a few times just to hear their stage music all the way through
ah Tekken 2, back when Paul was still considered a real fighter as opposed to a joke.
Then Tekken 5 happened
"WHAYAAAAAAAAA!"
Law's howler is still the most hilarious thing on this game. XD
Question how long have you been watching this man?
@@Mimicloo about 8 years
@@BudokaiTH damn you’ve been watching since practically the start
Ahh the good old Caddicarus.
Fun fact : When you get to stage 3 make sure you beat the stage with a "GREAT" finish meaning you beat the stage with very little health remaining. On stage 4, Alex or Roger will then appear and by beating them they become playable characters. Now how is a kid in 1996 supposed to figure that shit out ? hahaha lol
I played 2 before 1 as well and yeah I found 2 more enjoyable. It was definitely atmospheric, even I was spooked by some of the backgrounds and music tracks in this game, kudos to Namco. :)
Kazuya's eyebrows in this game gave me the chills as a kid.... x___x
6:58 I remember spendin whole days on sommer holiday to master those combos with friends... Good old childhood...
I used to have a fear of my T.V.
Every time I paused a game, I thought my T.V. would come alive and eat me.
I had a dream a long time ago where whatever game I played wouldn't stay paused longer than 3 seconds. Cue me(in the dream, I wasn't foolish enough to believe it was real) sitting around there like I was in some competition constantly pausing it whenever it went un-paused.
Tekken 5 was my first tekken and man...i want to kiss the man who put asuka kazama in this game...and the one who improved Lei Wulong...ho yeah jackie Chan
Tekken 5 is my personal favorite.
Funnily enough, my first Tekken game was also Tekken 2 and I too have a cracked game case in the same damn place!
First played this when I was 5. We had a Playstation and my dad brought the game home after work, as a surprise for me. I was totally hooked on the series and still am.
"CAUSE YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH, SONNY JIM!"
6:05
Video game magazines. They were my primary source for cheats, tips, pretty much anything, before the days of mainstream Internet.
We all can attest to that dude
All those stupid cheat guides I bought. I say stupid because some of them had cheats that half of them did not work
Yeah, that and Cheats Tips and Tricks books.
King's Stage Theme, Yoshimitsu's Stage Theme, Lei Wulong's Stage Theme.... those three are my, by far, MOST favorite themes for this oldie but goodie.
Tekken 2 is one of the greatest games of my childhood. The countless hours I spent mastering the game is something I will always remember fondly.
I'm totally drenched in nostalgia right now
Funny video man, I subscribed!
Wow cad, you have no idea how much nostalgia you give me with each upload. Love the show and you ;-)
I remember visiting my neighbour one evening with my sister when I was about 4-5 years old. We sat there for hours, just to watch our neighbour play through one of the Tekken games (can't remember if it was the second or third one). Great times. Another well done video, Caddy!
5:04 watch in 0.5 speed. Your welcome.
+tom mor why the hell am I laughing so goddamn hard at this?!
true art at it's best
I definitely know what you mean about Tekken 2 being scary. I had the same ominous feeling with a lot of original PlayStation games. Even the terrible Planet of the Apes. I think that fear isn't really captured in games now. With maybe the exception of Dark Souls. Difficulty and music I think were some of my biggest fears being younger and growing up with the PlayStation.
I mean...it was rated T for teen. 😒
Well done Caddy, I think you brillantly summed up the excellence that is Tekken 2 on so many levels, great video
Tekken 2 is a game that'll stick with me for the rest of my life! I played that at a similarly impressionable age and had an experience of it quite like yours, Caddy, specially with the ominous and mildly scary vibe of the stages-- I still absolutely listen to this soundtrack and it's as golden as I remember it. Props for using Michelle's stage music "Nobody Catch Me" through a lot of the vid, my FAVOURITE THEME IN A FIGHTING GAME EVERRRR
Quick Question Caddy: Will you ever cover the other 3 Tekken sequels or will you stick with just the ORIGINAL trilogy of Tekken. Im fine with either option but i was kind of expecting more Tekken Coverage.
Got scared of Dino crisis 1 and 2 , I was so scared I was paranoid they would jump out of the window so I didn't go near windows till I was about 3rd year highschool so yah I feel you
I remember playing Tekken 1 and 2 after school at a friends back in the day. Amazing game, and seeing who could complete arcade mode the fastest was always a fun little addition to team battle mode which we played like crazy
This was most definitely uploaded on my birthday. Thank you Caddy!
6:47 sounds like a Nine Inch Nails song
The Sly Cooper series please! (Spyro can wait)
Thanks for taken us back. Great video!
I'm giving Spyro the treatment it deserves and tackling it when I feel ready. Right now, I feel like I couldn't possibly do it - and I'm not rushing Spyro for the hell of it. The time will come!
Wow 1st comment after 8 years lol
Wow 1st comment after 8 years lol
1st comment after 8 years lol
IM GONNA DO IT, IM GONNA SAY IT!
kazuya smash
6:45
I really can't blame you for being ignorant about this but if you think 10-hit combos are harder than air juggling, you clearly haven't attempted any juggles that require precision dash cancelling, floor pickups, a shitton of juggles in the newer games (Lee's 1f wall carry, iWR finishers, Marduk's stance cancelling, etc.) or the FUCKING EWGF combos, instant EWGFs, dashing instant EWGFs, fucking tag combos that require perfect wavedashing for the last hit, christ, they're a nightmare, 10-hits are chump change.
Also they're useless against anyone half decent.
+BemaniAK wuzzat?
WUZZAT!?
Also Tekken 5.
+BemaniAK i could never get a handle on the combos in Tekken games.
Pooky1991 Me neither. I just use the excellent counter attacks of Kazuya
Zayaan Nashrid Kazuya's CounterHits work best as combo starters.
If you can't juggle the best option is just fishing for a CounterHit Paul Death Fist.
I often spammed the special, counter, and 1-hit kill attacks. The combos I was best at were the 4 to 5 hit and only with specific characters like King and Ling Xiaoyu (who I was best with). Ling was fun to use juggle attacks with. I would always see how long I could juggle a character with her
Wow I woke up and thought to myself, it would be cool if Caddy made a vid today because it is my birthday, and you actually did thanks man!
I love these, can't wait the Tekken 3 retrospective!
6:46 Actually 10 hit combos were in Tekken 1.
11:40
What is he holding?
P.S Vita.
Yeah, that is true. I understand the characters pissing you off but they get a lot deeper, in my opinion, anyway. I'm thankful for everything you already do, Caddy. Keep up the good work, we all love it!
Awesome vid, Caddy, getting pumped for Tekken 3!
You described the awesomeness of this game way better than I ever could.
Kazuya and devils face in the round 9 and 10 pictures freak me out to this day D: but great video caddy. YOU MAKE ME FEEL YOUNG AGAIN :D
When you do the "Did You Know" bit, I swear you sound like Vic Reeves. Haha, great video anyway man!
caddy, keep it up! super excited whenever i see a new episode. Just to let you know, you are very popular in the middle east! (especially Bahrain, even though we don't have many people - youtube subscriptions are still not a thing here)
Tekken 2 is probably the most memorable fighting game I played of all time. Thanks Caddicarus for reviewing this superb and brilliant fighting game :-).
Caddy these retrospectives are getting better and better with each new series. Really enjoying them and excited to see how you feel about Tekken 3.
I don't know if you get this a lot but you should consider a Resident Evil retrospective. That's another game franchise where the second entry is a big leap in quality.
i love you caddy for giving me hope
keep up the good work can't wait for part 3.
Awesome video! Can't wait for the next part ^^
The main thing I like about you Caddy is that you show to me that I have a good arguement when I talk to my friends that the original playstation was not only about the rpgs, but about adventure games, action games, and that it was a pretty solid console. It would be cool if in a not too distant future people could change their minds about the PSX and see it like everyone in the world see the legendary SNES.
Let's not forget DVD menus....
I was lucky enough to play Tekken 1 first and managed to master it as i had not got used to the speed and timing of the second game.So excited when the 2nd game came out spent £50,it was amazing, but your right there was a weird darkness to it,I'm glad you mentioned it, I always thought I was the only one to think that
Damn, I had to go take a piss and suddenly BAM! New video.
Finally I've been waiting for this video
Love your videos and Tekken is my favorite fighting series, Tekken 2 being my favorite. I Have so many memories playing that game and also Tekken 3.
For you next retrospective could you do RE1, 2, and 3?
I've never played a Tekken game before but i do now. Also amazing video as always Caddi :D.
Your Tekken 2 was basically my Tekken 3, But I am also a huge fan of this franchise and I have always held it close to me ^^
Who am I best with in the game, whose clips I love, or who are just my favourites? Haha
Tekken 3 was my first game ever, and I played it enough to know all the combos for Yoshimitsu and beat the arcade mode with every character. It's one of my favorite games ever.
.
.
.
And I have to wait another goddamn week for you to talk about it.
hilarious video Caddy! keep up the good woik!
Well, guess I'll have to play this game right now! I must admit, my Tekken passion started with number 3 but I played the games in order and I felt the differences you talked about! :D
Great 2° part, sir! :D
This was my first fighting game as well. I felt the same way when I played tekken 1 after growing up with tekken 2.
I get the fear thing. I was about 5 when I first played Tekken 2. The scariest thing for me was the arcade intro with Heihachi's face coming into view and that damn oppressive music.
Still, the console intro is really nostalgic for me.
Honestly, the guy who's complaining about him being like jontron, it might be one of the biggest reasons i like caddi. It's just that style of humor i love. Can't really beat it.
Omg this nostalgia makes me so happy this and Tekken 1 where the first fighting games I had ever played every thing caddy talks about is then I would do during my childhood.
Tbh, I would have been upset if caddie picked any thing over Spyro as I loved it and just replayed it from 1 to 3....But this Tekken 2 Caddy's Retrospectives I can wait!!!!
The music on this game is quite AMAZING.
Extremely funny review! I question myself too how a six year-old kid can figure the trick with Roger, I mean, its hilarious! I laughed out loud when you mentioned King and his background scaring the hell out of you when you were a kid xD
Great job, I'm looking forward to the next video.
I totally agree with that way of thinking about things. It's a more mature mindset than most people can muster. To each his own. Kudos to you, man. :)
Cool vid! love Tekken! But I want to see an collection video of your games!
Can't wait for Tekken 3. One of my fave fighters of all time, hands down. So many memories with that game, and it's STILL really good.
I loved that so much and found a lot of the arranged versions "just okay". I remember freaking out when I found out Julia's arrange theme was a remix of it if you let it go awhile. One time I had it on 3 rounds to win and heard the riff in there.
Update: Spyro waited for 9 more years, Caddy just did a Spyro video that's about an hour and a half long at 1,000,000 subs, congrats on that by the way :D
Kazuya's theme is probably one of my favourite themes in video games
This is was my first fighting game and my first game for the PS1. All the unlockable characters are also excellent.
I know what you mean, sir. I was always afraid of Yoshimitsu and that spooky forest stage. Which is weird because he's my favourite character now.
God, I remember T2 well. Kazuya's remixed track is my favorite tekken music of ALL TIME. But, having played T3 before, I just hated how the jumping worked, it took me quite some time to get used to it. Yeah, it was probably to aid in dodging (since side stepping wasn't a thing as it was in the sequel), but characters jumping twice their height was weird anyway
Now that I think about, that's probably the best way to go about it. For the fan's sake though, don't take too long to feel ready!
Love your videos always and always sing caddys retrospective
I hadn't played any Rayman games since number 2 and just the characters and humour made me remember it.
Tekken 3 was the first Tekken game i ever played. Can't wait!
Oh Caddie , you must be magical , I'm laughing even before the video has started XD ( because of the humour not that the video is terrible because it's AWESOME !! )
Actually Tekken 2 was my first fight PSX game as well so i share the same love for it as you , nice review =) , it is still lyin around here !
Tekken 2 is a game that i have to come back to every now and again just because of how fucking awesome it is
Tekken 2 and Tekken tag 1 scared me. Especially Tekken tag because of the final arcade boss, and sometimes on the PS2 version when you win a fight and the vs. Loading screen comes up the announcer laughs very evil like with no background music.
(sees first 25 seconds) "Spyro will wait"... okay, I'll wait. At least there will be a Spyro trilogy on this channel someday so that's worth waiting, now when I'm subscribed and all. :D I think I played all three Tekken game at a friend's house, I think I liked Tekken 2 the most. But then I got more interested in Soul Calibur games (from III and onward) and bought and played them instead.
Never a PC Gamer then Caddy? Would love to see a bit of golden age RPG love - Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate 2 etc!
Can't wait for the Spyro retrospective.
Caddy, that fear you mentioned. I recall having the same thing with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! as a kid. It is a little hard to explain, but I know exactly what you mean. That game had no pause ability, which for some reason gave me nightmares that I was fighting Bald Bull and couldn't even turn the system off. Plus that horrible, soul-crushing laugh after you lose. I eventually overcame it all and even took out Tyson, but it was all to get past the fear.
Bring this series back! I like it. :3
This game was my introduction to fighting games, as well.
I can't wait to see Part 3--Tekken 3! For me, Tekken 2 was actually the first game I played on my new Playstation back in 1998. And I was so friggin frustrated because I found it infinitely harder than Tekken 3! But I did love the music and graphics and atmosphere--even IF Kazuya made me want to throw my controller out the window!!!!
I love you, Caddicarus!
The grinding metal noise of punching Jack is simultaneously creepy and satisfying.
Tekken 1 introduced unblockable attacks (Yoshimitsu, Nina, Anna, Law, Lee, Jack and P-Jack) and 10-hit combos.
Every character in Tekken 1 had a 10-hit except Heihachi, Kunimitsu and Ganryu. And they were easier too.
For example: Law's was df+LP, RP, RP, LP, LK, LK, LK, RK, LK, RK. By going into the controller config options and setting L2=LK+RK and R2=LP+RP, that same combo could be done by pressing df+R2, R2, R2, R2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2. Taking advantage of the controller config in this way was something they stopped letting us do in Tekken 2 and beyond.
Seems you had the same taste in games as me while you were a kid. I was a teen when I played all these games but my thoughts and opinions are exactly the same. You the man! :-)
