Josh Homme thinks of music in so many layers of sound that when you hear him only playing acoustic guitar, you can hear him trying to account for all the simultaneous effects he's hearing in his head, and tries to channel that through the acoustic. That's why his playing has so much swagger. It's being guided by a sound larger than just the instrument he's playing.

"Sharpen your teeth my darlings, sharpen your mind." Has always stood out to me listening to this song. The line after really hits in this version though. "If the hand feeds you shit take one scalp at a time" Yowza. That's my kind of fkn lyrics.
I love that one too
not to mention the next line is g"go get em boys" and then his boys actually happen to be hired assassins,Jones and Grohl.
He such an incredible artist. Every version of the music that he plays is absolutely a mind fuck. I loved seeing him live last year. We just don’t come across artists like this often anymore
I wish he would included the outro. I’m so high I just may never come down
One of the most incredible, unique and "transcendental" rock songs ever written, to think when it was written is a beautiful thing. Were are really blessed to have a musician as Josh emerge from that generation and be here to witness peak greatness 🖤
Digging the look, with a bit of sun and a twist to the ol' whiskers the guy finally has the sage-like appearance that his discography warrants.
Yes I love everything this man does!! Giving me major Bowie vibes ✌🏽🙏🏽💖
Never heard this song before, getting some mega Doors and Jim Morrison vibes. I absolutely love this!!
Then crooked vultures never really took off, the whole album has a qotsa feel but different... i did it and still jam it
if you want more Doors-like Josh songs, try " The Fun Machine Took a Shit & Died", its basically a Doors song if you turn the fuzz/distortion off.
This song is way more haunting and erie with just acoustic.
Ironic
This is EPIC
The ambiant is mystic, it gives me chills every time i see this video. Josh is a pure rock bluesy stoner
Christ this rendition is mental. Josh is GOD
How have I lived my whole life without this? I feel like a dimensional shift just took place.
I only started listening to Queens and his other music a couple of years ago, myself. I felt like I'd robbed myself blind of all the years I could've been hearing it. Have you heard the Them Crooked Vultures album this song is off of? If not, get on that immediately. And Queens. And Desert Sessions. And anything else you may have missed.
VERY WELL PUT MY FRIEND
@@fl0nk11 go back to QOTSA very first album, after Josh left kyuss, I believe its from 1998 or 99".........SUCH AN AMAZING ALBUM!!!!!-
Josh looking like a pirate who's about to go on holiday to Bali.
Josh is such a freaking amazing guitarist. Everything is upside down and backwards and perfect. Love his sound
Oh Josh Homme, you’re ageing ever so beautifully.
Joshua just evolved to a music Quijote
Lol thought the same
Josh covered this song on vocals and guitar, Dave covered dead end friends on drums, now we just wait for John Paul to do something and then a TCV reunion.
Edit: “played” is a better word than “covered” in this scenario.
My favorite TCV track! God, his acoustic versions are always memorizing 😍
Hi there, good day to you and it’s nice seeing you here.
Im always amazed how much his voice does not change whether singing acapella in a garden or on the albums. My fav song from the Vultures♥️
Coolest rockers ever you ask?
James Hetfield & Josh Homme.
Legend has it that when they’re in the same room together the time continuum spins in daffodils
The emotion he transmits through his voice and his way of playing the guitar is amazing
Hi there, good day to you and it’s nice seeing you here.
@@JoshuaHomme-pm6gw Oh muy God! Is It really jou? Thank you so much for your answer. I wish you all the success at the concert in Madrid, wich I won't be able to go because the tickets sold out in ten mimutes, but well, I Saw you last year and It was the concert of my life. I wish you all the best!
@Cristina-cp1ge Of course it's me Cristina! You're welcome, and It's a pleasure to have you here. Well I know you must be surprised to receive a message from right?
PS: Thanks for your well wishes!
Thank you for the gift of your music over all these years, you're amazing!
@@Cristina-cp1ge You’re welcome once again Cristina, and thanks for your compliments.
His swagger ages like a fine wine.
As a guitar player, I have never hated a cameraman (or camera switcher) so much in my life!
Ive watched this 11 times in a row . ITS HAUNTING & BEAUTIFUL
Lets all be thankful that Perry didn't try to knock Josh out at the beginning, so we were able to enjoy this wonderful performance
I will patiently wait for someone to make a TAB for this and then be very grateful when someone does
Just watch him play it? You can see his hands clearly for all the parts
This song is in DADGAd tuning. I think there's a tab out there in the internet that is well written, but in this video you can see all of what he is playing so I don't think it would be hard to learn it by just watching him
Sorry, I misspelled it, it is in DGDGBd. If your guitar is in standard, you have to tune down the first string a tone, and the fifth and sixth strings a tone too. Or at least that's the way I play it. Good luck!
@@jager9022 Yeah, the last bit that goes "i'm so high...", I just do the chords. Live I think they use a drone (a note that is constantly playing) in E, so they have no problem. But for almost the whole song, they are playing an open G note in the fifth string. Here you can hear that Josh is playing the G note on the sixth string. So how you manage to play that G? with a capo? Also, in the last bit of the song, when i'm in the B# octaves, y play the E note in the 17 fret of the second string
Jesus Christ I never stop falling in love with this monster
Hi there, good day to you and it’s nice seeing you here.
Really sweet to hear this, he may be the coolest rock star ever.
It's soooooo good.
Pretty amazing stuff... I'm new to him but sure am liking it.
