I was honored to have been able to see him perform in Pittsburgh many years ago. This man was one of the best songwriters ever! RIP, you touched many people ❤

Yeah thanks Elton. Too many times people forget who helped them along the way but you didn't for get Leon and he was tired ,sick and broke when you reached out and helped him at the end of his life and I'm sure that must have felt like GOD answering his prayer. Thanks Elton John and we miss you Leon.
I saw a documentary on his life. I was devastated to see that fans burned his albums when he fell in love with and married an African American women. Hate destroys so much that we can never replace.
I kept them all. He was a gift from God.

God blessed me to see Leon Russell and Joe Cocker back in about 1972 in Charlotte NC. It was a 2 day concert and no one slept. They performed both days. A memory I hold dear to my heart to this very day. May they both soar with the Eagles in the Spirit World.

@@AlexanderMoises I was lucky enough to know of this song from the time it was a hit in 1975, I used to be a mobile DJ. I had this one joint I used to play quite a bit because I was the guy the hall would recommend when people were looking for a DJ. When I would play this venue there was a beautiful young lady on the waitstaff who said this was her favorite song so I used to play this song for her during the evening's dancing quite often. The tune never let me down. People seem to respond to the classics!
JimcDJ1 I agree, though I would say this beyond classic. An artist hits his heart with a bullseye , this is what comes out. This is beyond beautiful, it is sad, happy, mystical in some ways. This song takes me too places no other song ever has and I'm as wide and deep as they come to music catalogs. Fuck me, how could this have slipped by. @@AlexanderMoises Yeah, I hear ya, buddy. I always viewed Leon Russell as a bit of a nut what with that wild hair and beard he had but the guy apparently was as deep and talented as he was nutty. Anyway, I'm glad you've gotten to experience such a fantastic tune. It always makes me think of "Andrea" when I hear this tune. She was a beauty. I miss being a DJ, but it's like being a ballplayer in some ways. At some point you're just too old to connect with the young folks of today. Hey, what young girl do you know who wants to have a 60 year old man playing music at her wedding reception???

thought I had the worst seats when I saw Leon at a concert back in the 70's. my seats were behind the stage at the Forum in LA. turns out they were the best seats. as he played and sang he kept looking back at the band and up at us poor unlucky people who had these seats! Score!!!!!
