This was the most absurd discussion I've ever seen about EVs. First example, ioniq 5s boot is small at 527 but mustang's is big at 402 🤔 and then, where are the arguments for charging capability (Tesla 250 kwh, Kia 235 kwh, ioniq 225 kWh, Mustang 130 kWh and Skoda 125 kWh), efficiency or weight. Yeah the mustang has a big battery 90+ kWh but has the efficiency of a barn door and when the battery drains it takes for ever to charge... This review is just... Wow
@@KayyssGames1 yeah, sure, i agree with that. Especially as a general comment. In my country there are almost no superchargers (8 as of today), so it's not really a relevant point. I will concede that Tesla has the advantage of charging at other fast chargers though
I usually don’t go with this kind of comments but this is the review of a car journalist. Forget about the arguments people actually put money on cars in the real world. This is the “the steering is numb” version of an electric car magazine test. It was pretty ridiculous. He counter argumentes itself the entire way
Yep! It’s right up there amongst those reviews that suggest all electric cars are crap because they don’t come close to the manufacturers claimed range, even though they drive the car in the most inefficient way possible.
I absolutely loved this run through. I'm currently in the market for an EV myself and struggle to find the best one. It was very comforting to hear Top Gear confirm my findings, that it's between the Tesla and Skoda. Mustang is disqualified because I need space for a dog cage.
@@torod213 have you done the deed? Factor in the Tesla charging network and its a no brainer. Or you could wait until we can get the Berlin Model Y with the 4680 battery which will be a much better vehicle.
Let's see... In your opinion, the EV6 looks better and drives better, but let's give it to the Ioniq 5 since it has the "brighter, lighter, airy interior." 🙄
I hate bright interiors. They just feel cold. Give me black or a warm colour interior instead anyday. This guy obviously hasn't really driven any of these cars anyway going off his comments on some of them. And to dismiss the Jaguar over such a stupid comment is bizarre. Did Jaguar not pay Top Gear enough cash to give a good review or something?
Rolled my eyes as soon as he said Tesla gets a pass to second round. Turned off video right after he dumped the EV6 even though it's better than the Ioniq 5
As mentioned by many, that was the most arbitary, subjective and contradictory scoring criteria Most important criteria for many 1. Price 1. Range (and efficiency) 2. Practicality 4. Futureproofing/Charging speed Applying that has the Ioniq/EV6 right up there
Actually the MG5 does pretty well under those criteria, too. One of the cheapest EVs that you can buy in the UK right now with a 250 mile range, 85kW charging and a nice big boot without having to have an SUV.
Disregarding the Volvo and safety features because it looks like something "your aunt would drive" while testing for good family vehicles. Sounds legit.
What a rigged and effectively, pointless, “review”. The elimination process made absolutely no sense. He chose the Polestar over the XC40 and then complained about the fact that it can’t fit a family. Can’t we get someone with sense, like Chris Harris, doing these reviews?
Plus the XC40 and polestar 2 are based on the same CMA architecture which completely eliminates the point of polestar being cooler plus the xc40 looks pretty cool too so yh
Online reviews are online reviews. If you were at all seriously interested in buying a car like these, then surely you'd try them for yourself, and make your own mind up?
Is it really the most important thing?.. The UK isn't that big and most families won't waste entire days driving +300 miles more than once or twice a year.
Range and charging times are more of a concern for people that haven’t owned an EV. For the majority of people who can charge at home (75% of UK households) then you always leave home with plenty of range for the day.
Exactly the same why you don’t hear them on about range with fossil fuel cars. It’s irrelevant now. The charge times on all these ‘premium’ EVs doesn’t take long if you’re on a long journey where you would take a 20-30mins break anyway for a coffee/pee/stretch. And as others have said, you charge it at home with it ready to go each time you go to use it.
Strange review - no final verdict in the end after 10 minutes of talking - discounting the Jag because you don’t want the seats getting messy?? And the EV6 even though you thought it was better than the Ioniq 5??
For those of you that don't have the "return youtube dislike" extention, this video has 2.5X more dislikes than likes and for those wondering why would that be, it's because it is that bad.
This is probably the worst review ever. Almost everything is unjustified. And you kick great cars out for the smallest of reason that no one cares about.
He's probably right about the VW Group cars, if you had to pick one, a high spec Enyaq would be a better choice than a Q4. Between the EV6 and IONIQ 5 it's sort of unfair, EV6 would give the Mach E a good fight. Polestar takes care of everything the XC40 does except for boot space ( which is sort of ironic since the Polestar was kicked out of lack of space )
@@thatcopenguy they also kicked out the EV6 and then started bashing about the ride of the Ioniq 5… kia has a grat chassi system and is a more sporty car with alot of great space. But none of that matters when TG wants to make Tesla look good..
Got the Ioniq 5, we're a family of 4, the boot is plenty big enough so don't agree with his conclusion about the ioniq. I went for it not for the performance (I do have the 300bhp one) but because it looks cool, and the drive is very very comfortable and enjoyable. Just did a return trip to France with it and it was a breeze.
You doing mental gymnastics to justify your purchase does have very little influenec on the objective fact that it has considerably less storage space than the competition.
@@NO3V I'm not going anything. I test drove several. And this offered more than enough for me storage wise, I didn't feel the "it's not big enough to go away on holiday" was a fair comment. But typically like all these lazy auto journalists they say sensationalist comments just to get people to comment. Which I did. Hook line and sinker!
@@lehoff Glad you like yours. I have the same 300 bhp one and I think the boot is plenty big enough. But still mine was £50k and it was a bit of a big gulp to justify the cost. Skoda does offer better value but Ioniq 5 is just simply an awesome design inside and out!
@@Flyingzard agreed. Looking at bare facts the Skoda is "just as good". However I wanted something a bit different. On our trip to France we got over 230 miles with no range anxiety and sits at 130km/h on the Autoroutes with no issues at all.
This must be one of the worst reviews and reviewers I have seen for a long time. Not at all objective basing decisions on ruling cars in and out on whims. Try buying the Enyaq with a decent range for £35k ! By the time you spec it up to EV6 or Ionia 5 levels it will be heading for £50k.
What an absolute waste of time ! I’ve learnt zero from this review neither it was entertaining or funny. Pointless arguments for rejecting other cars from review. I love Tesla model Y but rejecting Audi and going for Skoda when comparing £55k Tesla what is the point of that ? Might as well throw fiat 500 in there an reject it for lack of 5 doors 🤦
if you want to go electric then you want a car that has a good drag coefficient. The Kia EV6 looks ok, Teslas for sure, some mercedes but geez an electric suv is just stupid.
@@lliza444 I’d agree but there’s no electric X5 so the option is limited. Plus there’s a large price difference between the standard X3 and X5. The X3 is not a bad car.
Bunch of bland, heavy and overly expensive electric SUV’s, so disappointed in the direction most car companies are moving these days. Also still can’t believe they called that a Mustang…
Two of the most expensive are in final two. Most families would have price higher up in the selection. So Model Y and Mache should have been eliminated. He then eliminated Ioniq 5 for small truck. When it holds more banana boxes than the Model Y.. Which was selected because it had big truck????? Must be a Tesla Fanboy.
I have an Ioniq 5 and the trunk is quite smaller than the Model Y's by default, especially if you keep the luggage cover. You can get more space by sliding the rear seats forward and that's how Bjorn got more bananas boxes in it than in the model Y, but you lose a lot of kneeroom by doing so. Also when you do that, he trunk isn't flat anymore which can be a bit annoying, it can help if you need the added space but you have to compromise for it, that's not the case in the Model Y.
What a massively contrived and convoluted elimination process 🤷♂️ Tesla biased much? Everyone knows the Ioniq5 sets the bench for space in a family EV SUV 🤔
I've driven one and I know you are wrong. So much for your "everyone"... (The boot is not exactly huge, no space underneath the load floor and barely a usable frunk.)
@@NO3V and well jolly good 👍 for you, 😆 I have also driven one and was impressed, and the space inside the cabin is cavernous. Agree the boot isn’t huge as the space is in the cabin but the boot is still usable for a family. And Ioniq5 easily the best design looks-wise imo whereas Teslas look like they came out of the jelly mould 🤷♂️ When I say “everyone” I mean pretty much every other contemporary road test
What absolute rubbish this is very poor content from a brand like top gear. Speaks with an aloof air of confidence when I have little in his judgement.
Should have judged them all. The iX3 as a conventional choice would have been interesting to compare against purpose built EVs. The Jag would have demonstrated how far the tech has moved in 5 years. The final 3 made no sense at all from a buyers perspective. 3 cars not competing with each other.
Not all of us have "kids with their sticky fingers" - so it's hardly a good reason to dump the Jaaaaaaag. And before people start saying "It's about a family car", I'll just point out that the video title says "What’s The Best EV To Buy Right Now?"
Top Gear telling me NOT to buy the most powerful version of a car, and then to look out for a boot, because I have kids... Can't believe this is happening
I mean this is a silly test with silly ways of deciding. The simple test is. Do you want your electric family car to be delivered this year? If yes, buy the Tesla as they are available for delivery this year, the others are not! 2. Do you do long trips and want a simple way to charge your without planning or worrying about charger availability? If yes, buy the Tesla. 3. Realistically if you want the large boot space and it matters, the skoda, tesla or the hyundai are the only ones to buy. 4. If you don't care about any of these things then then the Kia ev6 is amazing, but feel free to pick any of the evs on this test.
Stopped watching after he randomly selected his favourite cars for no reason other than which looked better. "We won't look at these cars even though they might be good because we don't have the time. So I'll not give them the time of day and palm them off from the outset" 😆 why do to all the effort of having them there?
What a ridiculous review. No testing of the actual range of any of these cars. Cold and wet weather, normal for the UK, will seriously affect the range of these vehicles. Using the radio, heating or air conditioning seriously handicaps the useable range and makes driving even more stressful than usual. And charging takes forever. Drove a two litre, turbo diesel Skoda Octavia last week; 57 miles to the gallon, potential range in excess of 500 miles and five minutes to re-fuel just about anywhere. There's a long way to go for electric cars, and then we'll realise that hydrogen is the most logical alternative. Or maybe improve public transport and build proper cycle ways. Just a thought. Love and peace.
I had the Mach-E as a courtesy car while my car was being repaired and I hated the driving sensation. The suspension was rock hard and the steering was weird. Plus you can’t have a roof rack on it. Definitely off my shortlist.
That was just an inconsistent mess that would be of very little use to anyone. Wasn't it meant to be Tesla Model Y comparison to its rivals? It in the end became 30 to 60 seconds review of individual cars with very little comparison made and randomly picked stats thrown at you. The sticky fingered children who apparently prevent you from having a Jaguar, could deliver a more coherent comparison
How the hell can you pick the skoda over the EV6 or ioniq 5 ?? I understand that it's hard for you to say that there is a better EV then tesla but you just can't ignore that it's to expensive this days.
The 'Best' ev? The Mach-e and the i-pace drives beautifully. The i-pace looks the best among all these. The Tesla is the most practical. I can agree 'family-friendly' is implied, but 'value' isn't in the title; 'best' is. But still, you can argue that it meant best-of-segments, fine. But then they chose the base Skoda over the Hyundai and the Kia. My opinion: if you don't have to sell your house for it, buy the new i-pace. If you live and breathe utility, buy a Tesla.
Have an I-Pace for 2 years and it's just perfect in every aspect, drives beautifully, range is good enough, very big boot and rear space for kids and dogs too, and it stands out when you see Teslas everywhere :)
I like the iPace but it costs more than the BMW iX3 (which is almost as good to drive) which comes fully loaded with basically every option (panoramic roof, adapative cruise control, heated seats/steering wheel, high beam assist, adaptive suspension...the list goes on). The i-Pace options on the configurator feels like a terrible joke - I haven't seen a complex configurator like that in my entire life of buying cars. The BMW drives just as well and IMO the interior feels more premium/expensive than the Jag. Design is subjective - iPace is wonderful, BMW has more presence and residual value.
@@Kellric7 Apart from the iPace, I like the look of all other EVs less. They're too shouty and could date quickly. The iX3 is conservative, but it has road presence. It's all subjective of course. I quite like the look of the facelifted model.
FlanKingDragon should replace this muppet as Top Gear reviewer. Did a better job in the first 3 sentences of the comment than the whole official review
I chose the BMW iX3 for the exact opposite reason that you mentioned - it doesn't look like a crazy spaceship from Startrek - it looks like an ordinary car, and handles like a BMW. Absolutely fantastic interior, high-end materials and does not disappoint. I would choose the BMW iX3 over the Tesla Model Y anyday!
The phase 1 selection process is ridiculous!!!! A bit more work across all vehicles to make a solid and useful case instead of a biased one was too much to ask for? 😱
Lost me when you got rid of the Jag (the best looking EV IMO) purely because you "don't want to have the sticky fingers of your kids in it". I'm sorry, but next to the fact that Top Gear presenters are the most uninspiring people in the world who can't present, they can't even properly test cars. Just give up BBC, ever since you fired Clarkson, Top Gear has been a dead horse that you've been pulling behind your car for years. It's just painful to watch.
Think i must just be too used to RUclipsr car reviews now (Throttle House, Doug Demuro, Car Wow, Jonny smith etc) as this felt incredibly rushed and flippant…
How can you say the Skoda is better value without mentioning equipment, or performance or battery size or all wheel drive? Yes, there is a more affordable Enyaq available. But it's also NAKED - is checking the options list and trying to compare what is comparable too much work for you or to difficult for your intellect?
Ioniq 5 is by far the best value for money out of all of these vehicles. Has the best equipment and the looks are incredible. The Y is cheaply built and looks like an egg rolling down the street. I drove the Mach E, Y, 3, and i5… you want sporty and bumpy go for the Y or 3, you want bad breaking and tight quarters go for the Mach E (rear looks like a Pinto)… you want comfort and style and every option and safety equipment under the sun go for the Ioniq5 AWD Ultimate/Limited… come on Tesla is this day and age no blind spot monitoring warning in the mirrors so you need to rely on the center screen taking focus away from the blind spot! Also no head up display… the simple inexpensive tech is what is missing… oh don’t let me forget about phantom breaking! With the resent price increases in Tesla vehicles they can at least include the most basic safety equipment and stop trying to reinvent the wheel… Needless to say you guys did not do a real proper comparison… should be based on style, equipment, range, safety equipment and price… do a proper spreadsheet and you will see right now Ioniq 5 is on top… come on legacy automakers step up your game! Congratulations Hyundai Group for building something great! Btw I’m a Tesla Model 3 owner and own lot’s of Tesla stock. Just keeping it real!
The people in the comments saying "Nothing beats Tesla" are just super biased. Tesla have a great charging network and low consumption numbers, but the rest is subpar. It's just not a good ride at all in a Model Y and it just feels like it's lacking so much equipment (and auto wipers/auto head beam doesn't even work!). I test drove all of the competitors before I bought IONIQ 5 and I agree with everything you said. It's just such a comfortable car to drive.
"But you wouldn't want your kids sticky sweets and fingers inside the Jag, so that's out". What, does that mean you're fine with Twix bars all over the interiors of the rest of the cars? What has Top Gear become.
I don't understand why you dismissed the Volvo out of the gate in favour of the Polestar just to later dismiss that one for not being good for the family. Surely if that's the metric you should have chosen all the best sized cars for a family and pitted them against each other on other metrics.
@@NO3V I haven't, but that's part of the reason I didn't like how they dismissed it outright. From the outside and from reputation of the brand it looks like it should be something people look to when they want to buy a family EV so it would be nice to know some of the reasons it's not a good choice beyond the reviewers personal opinion on outside appearance. But yeah, I looked up some photos of the interior and yeah, I am disappointed at least from what I can tell from photos. Looks rather... cheap.
I've just returned from a trip around Germany in a BMW i3S with 2 kids and a dog and you're telling me the ioniq doesn't have enough space? Are you taking your entire house with you? Also, I also feel the video lacks focus. If the target is family car, and family car only, cars with no frunk are out. Except the Skoda with a big Maybe. . After liberating the interior of black plastic surfaces using matte wraps the EV6 and ioniq rear wheel drive are very solid options. The iX3 also has by far the best adaptive recuperation, which makes it so easy and fun to drive you might actually listen to what your family is talking about.
You don't have to live with it until 2030. As you will still be able to buy new internal combustion engine (ICE) until then... Then there's always second-hand ... And the price of ice cars will plummet...but I think the adoption of evs will be quicker than that.. the battery technology which is the important part is moving fast ... In a couple of years cars which charge in 10-minutes and drive 500 real miles on a single charge.
Skoda may have big both, but the back seats don't lay down property. It's is not practical to go camping with it if you want to sleep in it. Tesla and The Ionic 5 is a real family and camping car in that sense. And he closed out the Ionic because not enough big both.
I went Mach-E (Premium AWD Extended Range). I liked driving it, for the performance, it was cheaper than the Y. It looks better, and, when you add the frunk into the mix, it's pretty practical (even for road trips). I've had it for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it.
@@KayyssGames1 why? I hard disagree. We cross shopped, and would still pick the Mach-E every time. Hell, I even rented a Model 3 for a week and took it on a road trip before deciding. The Tesla had a longer list of things we didn't like, and in highway tests, the Mach-E was even beating the Model Y in range despite the higher EPA rating on the Tesla.
@@KayyssGames1 Tesla is famed far and wide for its terrible build quality, so I have my very real doubts about that. At least Ford knows how to put doors on cars without them drooping. Gushing over the Ioniq's interior? Yikes. That's straight out of early 90's Buick. It's essentially got a bench seat in the front...and the dash looks like it's been washed out from baking in the sun for 3 years. Bad purged memories come to mind with that interior.

Wow
Yup they really have to learn what people expect from EVs these days
Lmaoo but in the end of the day the Tesla will always be the most reliable at the moment with its charging stations and excellent range
This is not even a comparison test…it is just OM’s emotional response
I absolutely loved this run through. I'm currently in the market for an EV myself and struggle to find the best one. It was very comforting to hear Top Gear confirm my findings, that it's between the Tesla and Skoda. Mustang is disqualified because I need space for a dog cage.
Exactly!
what’s OM stands for?

Let's see... In your opinion, the EV6 looks better and drives better, but let's give it to the Ioniq 5 since it has the "brighter, lighter, airy interior." 🙄
Yep, I thought the same. And then he kicks out the Ioniq because of how it drives. 🤦♂️
And he gets paid for this!
I hate bright interiors. They just feel cold. Give me black or a warm colour interior instead anyday. Dismissed the XC40 because the Polestar looks better, then dismissed the Polestar because it’s not an SUV like the XC40 😵💫
Mind blowing lmfao and my polestar 2 kick some ass! I love my car!
Fact is XC40 looks like XC60 had car accident, even MG ZS looks better.
As mentioned by many, that was the most arbitary, subjective and contradictory scoring criteria
Most important criteria for many
1. Price
1. Range (and efficiency)
2. Practicality
4. Futureproofing/Charging speed
Applying that has the Ioniq/EV6 right up there
Actually the MG5 does pretty well under those criteria, too.
Obviously, this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Conventional doesn't mean it is bad, it probably is the best. It all goes down to taste.
What a rigged and effectively, pointless, “review”. The elimination process made absolutely no sense. He chose the Polestar over the XC40 and then complained about the fact that it can’t fit a family.
Can’t we get someone with sense, like Chris Harris, doing these reviews?
Or Richard hammond
Plus the XC40 and polestar 2 are based on the same CMA architecture which completely eliminates the point of polestar being cooler plus the xc40 looks pretty cool too so yh
@@onix7108 He might crash them. I prefer James May for EV reviews.
Online reviews are online reviews. If you were at all seriously interested in buying a car like these, then surely you'd try them for yourself, and make your own mind up?
Love how they don’t talk range and recharge times. The most important thing
Not if you charge at home every night
Is it really the most important thing?.. The UK isn't that big and most families won't waste entire days driving +300 miles more than once or twice a year.
Range and charging times are more of a concern for people that haven’t owned an EV. For the majority of people who can charge at home (75% of UK households) then you always leave home with plenty of range for the day.
Except that he stated the range.
Really ....'choose the one best for you'....
if are comparing something atleast try to give a final verdict for gods sake
You dismissed the "car of the year 2022" immediately! So thereby you disqualified yourself.
Ollie my man... that's a truly flippant way to eliminate finalists. A higher standard of automotive journalism is what we've come to expect from TG.
They've taken payments to do so, can't help it.
It's all based on looks. Just like how women select men on Tinder.
Thanks.
Is this an April fools joke? Ix3 out because it looks too conventional ??🤣🤣
Pathetic “review”.
Yes, and if you drive them all, the iX3 is surprisingly the best experience! Problem is it's not "shouty" about it's EV credentials.
A polestar 2 estate would be great.
And the iX3 is the most normal looking, same people value that.
Spot on, im waiting for the ID4 to be released here since its the most "normal" looking EV on offering. Not everyone wants a spaceship lol
normal looking? those buck teeth?
This is probably the worst review ever. Almost everything is unjustified. And you kick great cars out for the smallest of reason that no one cares about.
Agreed. Terrible ‘review’
Agree.
Looks too conventional: OUT 🧠 ❌
Personal opinion obviously but I’d have taken the BMW all day long, conventional or not
@@thatcopenguy they also kicked out the EV6 and then started bashing about the ride of the Ioniq 5… kia has a grat chassi system and is a more sporty car with alot of great space.

The fact that the iX3 looks “normal” is a huge selling point for me
X3 is wack .. x5 at least
Lol. What a greel
if you want to go electric then you want a car that has a good drag coefficient. The Kia EV6 looks ok, Teslas for sure, some mercedes but geez an electric suv is just stupid.
Especially when he kicks cars out for not being family friendly or not having a big boot, errr wait a minute mate, you kicked the iX3 out in round 1
I was looking for a better comparison and drive through for each car. This review started off in the wrong note!
Based on what? Not even sales numbere support that claim rofl
really, Model Y holds nearly twice the luggage, he didn't even mention the suitcase sized hole under the boot floor

@@NO3V and well jolly good 👍 for you, 😆 I have also driven one and was impressed, and the space inside the cabin is cavernous. Agree the boot isn’t huge as the space is in the cabin but the boot is still usable for a family. What absolute rubbish this is very poor content from a brand like top gear. Speaks with an aloof air of confidence when I have little in his judgement.
We absolutely love our long range Model Y got it before the $10,500 price hike!
And that’s the reason I’m looking for other evs. So far ev6 and Mach E are my favorite.
EV6 and Polestar 2 for me
I mean this is a silly test with silly ways of deciding.
Hands down. IONIC 5 Better built, quieter. Same range and much cheaper
“I’m going to change the criteria for every car… in that case, this is a useless comparison”
Sköda's are good cars, underpinned by VOlkswagen Group, which is trickle down from premium brands such as Bugatti, Bentley, and Porsche
The Enyaq definitely deserves to be up there. The Ford, based on the criteria given for the review, does not. Should have the Ioniq 5 in the top 3.
Click bait: "What’s The Best EV To Buy Right Now?" We're not going to tell you.
@@bodrulm1 iX3 is so boring in design, and man, you haven't tried Mercedes configurator then ;)
@@Kellric7 Apart from the iPace, I like the look of all other EVs less.
If I had the money for an electric car... the only one I'd consider is a Polestar 2. Just simply because it looks amazing.
Yes, it looks really nice
Lost me when you got rid of the Jag (the best looking EV IMO) purely because you "don't want to have the sticky fingers of your kids in it". I'm sorry, but next to the fact that Top Gear presenters are the most uninspiring people in the world who can't present, they can't even properly test cars. Clarkson, May, and Hammond were the best
The Y.
"But you wouldn't want your kids sticky sweets and fingers inside the Jag, so that's out". What, does that mean you're fine with Twix bars all over the interiors of the rest of the cars? What has Top Gear become.
Indeed. Utter joke.

So this is the new reality we have to live with...OK I finally accept it. Soon everything will be EVs, so I guess I would choose the Hyundai
What about the MG5. Good value car

I went Mach-E (Premium AWD Extended Range). I liked driving it, for the performance, it was cheaper than the Y. It looks better, and, when you add the frunk into the mix, it's pretty practical (even for road trips). I've had it for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it.
The Model Y is still the better pick tho
@@KayyssGames1 why? I hard disagree. We cross shopped, and would still pick the Mach-E every time. Hell, I even rented a Model 3 for a week and took it on a road trip before deciding. I too recently drove the EV6, and I honestly don't see the rave about it. Slightly better than the IONIQ5, but nowhere near as sporty as the Model Y. Interior is nice though, but that's all. The interface is archaic, the interior is plasticky (not bad), but not better than the ID.4. Didn't stand out in anyway. Maybe the GT will be worth it as it goes up to 163 mph and rpms to 20,000.
Be blessed.
EV6 is not better than tesla. plus it has a horrible range. but what to expect from someone who doesn't understand anything about cars lmfao
For my family, I'll take the BAC Mono, the Caparo T1 or a V10 Ariel Atom.
Or I'll just buy a secondhand Lexus LS600, Honda Legend or Jaguar XJ12 for about a couple of grand, save £400+ a month and save the CO² that would have been used to create a car that I'd barely use because walking, cycling and public transport is fine for most journeys.
Gushing over the Ioniq's interior? Yikes. That's straight out of early 90's Buick. It's essentially got a bench seat in the front...and the dash looks like it's been washed out from baking in the sun for 3 years. Bad purged memories come to mind with that interior.
Still think my ID4 is the bees knees. Well chuffed. Get that 5k grant too. Big battery and it doesn't brake the bank. Also get the dealership network that can always help you.
Tesla looks hideous. I'd go for the Jag just for those looks.
The up electric. Just what an electric should be. Something for the city, practical and with a flair of fun. Everything else should be still as it was few years ago, v8 's in-line 6's and powerful turbo 4's for sporty hatches.

2- Hyundai Ioniq 5
3- Skoda Enyaq iV (Downside could be very small screen behind the steering wheel)
The others are too small to care, or identical e.g. VW iD4, or expensive.
Can you upload that video by Chris Harris from a few years back about the impossibility of a switch to battery-powered cars for the current level of car ownership, demand and use?
He got schooled by Graeme Cooper from
The National Grid in a later video…
@@jonathangurney8628 don't tell me... a guy from an electricity supply company said there'll be plenty to go round...
@@neilwheel the National grid isn’t an energy company. It’s the distribution network. What was your conclusion after watching the video, or ya trolling?
@@jonathangurney8628 and what business is it in?
@@neilwheel Chris Harris is in the business of providing information to people who don't know much about a subject yet. Unfortunatley you have subconcious bias. If Graeme was a voice of the National Grid complaining they couldn't meet demand that would drive a conversation around MORE government investment for his business; so how about you think about that one.
If you just want a family EV thats more affordable than all of these, get an MG5. The only true estate EV sold in the UK so far.
If you really must have an SUV, get the SKODA.
If you want something fun to drive that’s half practical, look no further than the Polestar 2 or KIA EV6.
I used to have an F Pace, it was awesome but I really got involved with curly wurlys and so I just knew I had to sell it.
Is this what motoring journalism has become? Personal opinions? No wonder other RUclips channels have completely overtaken Top Gear
All far too expensive for the average guy
Please make clear to your reviewer that there is NO ENGINE in a BEV, TopGear!
Can't afford any of them.
Poor people like me will have to use petrol cars until we die.
no, buy Dacia or Chinese little sth
None of them have a charging network except for Tesla. Do a crash test and see which comes out on top. Lots of electric cars that you can’t drive anywhere far as you can’t charge it.
Ioniq 5, hands down
The best EV for my family is the one in that I don't have to spend a freaking day in the workshop because the brand hasn't figured out that over the air updates are a standard by now.
So true
I'd take the I Pace, although I am a jag fan
I’d take it if I was single and ready to mingle. Not big enough for my family.
Worst tech lol
Skoda is a brillant car which cannot be repaired at the moment. Mine has been driven 2 kilometers, broke down and is currently at a repair center for 5 months (and I don't know if it will eventually go out)
Genuinely one of the worst videos I've seen in a long time. The hypocrisy on decisions of which to choose is baffling and then ends the video with "choose the one that works for you". Well thanks for that, why not start with that and just make this a 10 second video because that's how long it should have taken. Expected better.
How many miles and recharges before they need a new set of batteries?
