Bro, I heard 1,784 covers of Blackened that you'd think it was a new song. This is the best that I've heard, and I play wicked guitar. 10 hours a day from 10-12 years old, played my first show at 14, opened for the first signed band at 15
Thank you! 🔥 I need to post a cover of this solo one of these days. Probably what helps my cover is that I am using the exact amp they used to record this album, albeit a sim through my quad cortex.
It was a reference to the Stranger Things character. Just got done watching that season when I made this video! Everyone thinks I mean EVH so I wish I would’ve left off the text! 🤣
Yes, I have! You can check it out on my buddy Jimmy Franklin’s channel. Look up “Jimmy Franklin The Trooper” and you should see us! Let him know I sent you his way - he makes great content! 🤘🏻
This riff messes with my head so so much. I know the snare is on the upbeat, my brain understands the upbeat at first, but then my brain twists it to be the downbeat, but then the fill pulls the rug early. It takes hearing the riff with a half-time feel drum beat for my brain to behave
@@Austin_Shredder That time shift after the solo also threw me for a loop, Im sure you know the one: Lars plays one extra snare/tom strike so everything is shifted, then a few bars later cuts short and the arrangement returns to “normal,” whatever that means. 😂 Back then they were so clever with “audio illusions” and time changes.
It takes a lot of practice! Is it something you’re working on? If so, I recommend practicing the song at 75% and working your way up to 110%. Then playing 100% speed feels easier. 😁
@@StrumNation3453 that’s exciting! I took lessons for a year or two, but I am primarily self-taught. I used resources I had - the early days of RUclips, tab books I bought, and also some tips I learned from my guitar teacher. RUclips is your best free resource!
@@Austin_Shredder yeah! It's really cool, if you listen to the demo tapes of the album, you can hear Jason say something, then start playing the riff on the bass
Yes! Another person that plays the main riff correctly (switching the octave of that tritone)
Thank you for stopping by and watching!
Y see in internet another form to play, but this shit it's the real
Remember when Grunge made Metal irrelevant? Me Neither! Metal Stands Strong!
Well Played sir!
I want to try their "Blackened" whiskey!
For sure! I didn’t know they had a whiskey, I will certainly be trying it!
Grunge made hair metal irrelevant. Metallica was still going strong in the 90s

I’m impressed that you managed to keep count of how many covers of Blackened you’ve heard.
You got a great sound on that B
At least he heard Battery tho🤘🏼
You’ve got that right! 🤘🏻
Van halen?
Thank you Jason Newsted
James is from another world . So far ahead of his time
All hail Papa Het! 🤘🏻
Agreed! Newsted actually wrote this riff.
Tocando Metallica con una camisa de Iron Maiden
¡Epico!
¡Gracias! 🤘🏻
Eddie was alive and well in '88' my young padawan.

Sick maiden shirt! Have you covered the trooper? But great cover dude! 🤘🏻

I feel your pain. I had to practice a lot with the timing to even make this short video. So worth it though! 🤘🏻

James Hetfield is a riffs machine
He sure is 🔥
Interestingly enough, Jason wrote that intro riff! It was so great that Metallica agreed it should set the tone for the album
"Fire"
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
Why did I think you were talking about Eddie Van Halen?! 😂
🤣 I’m sure that Eddie definitely heard this riff!
I dont know which eddie it is lol
🤣 I made this video back when Eddie from Stranger Things was really inspiring me to revisit some Metallica classics!
Your sub count is way low hopefully you get more 😢
I sure hope so! Need to step up my content at some point and really earn it. Thank you for the support! 🙏🏻
Awesome, curious what tuning tricks you used. Is this slightly above 440hz?
Thank you! No trickery at all. Just tuned to E standard at 440. 😊 it is possible my palm mutes make my notes slightly sharp.
Eddie who r we talking about van halen?
Nope, I was referring to Eddie from Stranger Things when I made this video! Still hoping they will bring him back 🤣
Eddi?

Downpicking 😢

Bro he died in 2020 💀
I’m talking about Eddie from Stranger Things. I had fun making this video last summer when the character captured the world by storm! 🙂
I agree
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
You bet
I have to ask I am trying to learn the guitar and I am a 2 years in and I was wondering how did you learn the guitar

All the people saying how James is a riff god or whatever, he is, but Jason wrote that riff, at least the first one
I didn’t know that!
@@Austin_Shredder yeah! It's really cool, if you listen to the demo tapes of the album, you can hear Jason say something, then start playing the riff on the bass
I read the same, the song’s foundation is all Jason. He’s even the one who suggested reversing the intro they made, as they say the rest is history
And as a thank you to Jason they muted him 😂
