The very definition of mental toughness. You have the biggest tennis venue, with the biggest tennis crowd, playing (one of the 3) biggest tennis stars, in prime time and almost no one gives you a chance. To accomplish that win, in that stadium, against that opponent in straight sets is quite possibly the best story of the US Open this year.

If anyone is interested to know what Carlos is doing wrong since early 2023, let me tell you this defeat is not a surprise, even in straight sets
    - Carlos is currently hitting his forehand like Nadal, that sacrifices speed just to gain spin, spin that only works in clay courts but not on most of the courts of modern tennis
    - As a result, he is more passive from the baseline, the opponents take advantage of that to gain the initiative. In modern agressive tennis, taking the inititative is KEY to dictate points
    - Carlos normally goes 3 meters behind the baseline to return second serves, basically he is resignating to be in a defensive position without even starting the point
    - Passiveness, defensive playstyle makes the matches longer, physique does not last forever, if he wants to have longevity, he cannot play that passive
For all the next matches from Carlos, put attention at the things I just mentioned and you will see how everything makes sense

Wow. I certainly didn’t expect Carlos to be out this early, in straight sets too. He’s seemed worn out since the Olympics This should hugely increase Djokovic’s chances.
To certain commenters saying Carlos is cooked now…you said that after Cincinnati last year and he’s won Indian Wells, RG and Wimbledon. To be clear, I like Djokovic and I’ll be delighted if he wins Slam number 25. But please stop saying this about Carlos, you’re making yourselves look silly. He’s only 21 and has already won 4 Slams. No it's you Alcaraz fans that need your heads checked. Putting a 21 year old guy on the same level as big three and talking about potential future GOAT nonsense. If you didn't set such foolish standards for him maybe you wouldn't get ridiculed. Alcaraz is a great player and he will be back but he needs a reality check. He already talked about wanting to be the best player of all time after he lost on Olympic games, that shows he is not right mentality wise, there is ambition and then there is lunacy that will burn athletes down.
