From what I could see the birds were probably goldfinches. They absolutely love teasel seeds and I noticed a lot of them growing in the area.🙂

Used to love Rhuddlan years ago when the kids were small, walking up (Twootill) and one time we took friend's kids... heard a load of shouts and there they were on the turrets of the castle... little monsters!! The weather was usually like this.

Love going away in the rain. Just stay in the van. The sound of rain on the roof, watching telly makes it. Love the wet map joke. We did a tour of West wales in February one year. It was so wet for the whole 4 days the coast guard was patrolling the streets.

We have been whinging for a few years now about how rain coats don't keep you dry anymore, but a £1 plastic poncho works a treat. Maybe that's the way forward ;)

The black and white bridge you crossed is where Olive and Arthurs motorcycle crashed and their luggage ended in the river in "Holiday on the Buses"
Come to think of it you two would make a great Olive and Arthur if they ever remake On The Buses !

We've been to Rhuddlann a few times but never to the castle. Thanks for putting up with the rain to show us round. I'm worried though, just bought a new Berghaus waterproof so hope it works better than yours seemed to. Lol

We have been camping in similar weather and you just get on with it but getting clothes dry in a tent is a major task. Well done for sticking with it and bringing us another interesting and excellent vlog. We have holidayed in the caravan site near to the river and it was great. Cheers.

I got a tip. Look up equi dry coats. They are warm and waterproof.. people with horses know how to stay warm and dry. They are like a waterproof dressing gown. We'll comfy.

Bought my Paramo in Wales after my Berghaus was totally overcome by Welsh rain. Agree they're brilliant. Also had to get new boots, so an expensive camp.
So far most people are saying Paramo ☔️☔️ looks like a pricy shop

Some waterproof coat advice, no Gortex coat is waterproof if you wash it and don't retreat it. I've got a RAB coat that is 100% waterproof. Mountain Equipment are very, very good. Expensive but good. As they told me when I was in the RAF, your skin is waterproof. Keep making us laugh, and happy travels.

Penrhyn Castle near Bangor is a must see….best castle I have ever seen. The stonework is unbelievable.
It’s National Trust but if you aren’t a member and want to join check out the Scottish National Trust…. It’s cheaper and you can use it in England and Wales too👍🏻

Rain jackets work best if they are baggy, and have air flow. My old army Gore-Tex worked great until I put weight on ...LOL These days I swapped from rain jackets to a brolly, even when backpacking ....

I saw a video on YT that came up on my feed about why GoreTex doesn’t work. Once the outside layer becomes soaked, because the durable water repellent layer has worn off, water vapour can no longer get through it. Hence you get condensation on the inside.
Result: wet inside and out.
Keep up the good work.

I couldn’t see the birds in close-up but most likely Goldfinches. They fly in flocks and also love teasel & there was a lot of that about.
