rip John and his son Henry, can’t believe John was never knighted
RIP John Surtees. A true legend of motor sport.
I think people forget John won the Isle of man three times as well as the motorcycle grand prix in those years also, even today riders say the Isle of man is too dangerous especially with the specification of todays technology, its scary with no room for error.I always felt John never got the praise he earned , not deserved. Stirling moss, Jackie Stewart, Graham hill, Nigel Mansell etc etc all great racers but John in my opinion was the best. I know if I met him I could listen to him for days with the stories of his motivation etc etc, and id quite happily listen. A legend John, any petrolhead knows what you achieved probably won't ever be repeated with the speeds and standards being so high in each sport, as it also was in your era.even more credit to you for what you achieved. Why you were never Sir John defies my logic, but you were the best for so many people.RIP
and remains the only driver to have won a world championship in both F1 and motorcycle racing

I absolutely love listening to these men talk. They may have been perfectionists and sometimes difficult to work with but I think it goes with such focused competitors. I once worked for one of Graham Hill's BRM mechanics who told me wonderful stories. When I met Stan Diben I was so in awe that I was almost speechless lol.
Should of been 'Sir John Surtees'.One of the all time greats of motorsport.

What a legend he was hands down one of to top 5 greatest racers of all time he’s right up there with the great Michael Schumacher, Valentino Rossi and Jim Clark

John was never knighted because he did not ride British bikes he rode MV Agusta
John surtees is the only person to win the 500 and f1 championship.
