- Had a fun idea to go thrifting at Talize for french winter fashion in today's video and show you the key basics that I've been seeing in Parisian style. Although this is not to generalize all french styles it's just ones that I've been seeing a lot lately on Instagram, Pinterest and fashion articles and things that I personally like since I'm looking into wearing key basics in my style for 2020!

#ThriftWithMe #FrenchWinterFashion
Happy Sunday guys :) I was super inspired to film this video and share my take on french girl fashion for winter and seeing what I can thrift at Talize. Give this video a like so I know I can keep doing more of these videos
There She Goes love this!!!! How about more countries fashion style videos? I would watch women’s fashion from around the world!! I hope you do💜
Hi ! As a Parisian woman, I just wanted to tell you that the way we shop is quite different. I do have an excessive wardrobe haha, but it was built over time. And when it comes to my staples, my center pieces, I took the time to chose it well. It took me years to find THE leather jacket, THE rain coat, THE perfect black dress... I think the "parisian style" is also so timeless because to be so on point, it takes time :) (and a lot of mistakes !)
At least that's how my mum taught me !
Hey Iris! Aw I would love to see your wardrobe. That’s amazing that you built it overtime and have find THE ideal items for you, it seems that will last you for a lifetime which is my goal to have one time!
@@ThereSheGoess It still isn't ideal haha but it is getting better :)
I just realised my comment can sound quite cocky (if that s the word), but it is really how I see my friends and family shop :)
The message was more : don't worry about having the perfect wardrobe, it takes time for everyone, even the so called "perfect parisian women" ;)
I really enjoyed how you put this video together, Anna - showing how you created a list, shopped the list, and didn't necessarily bring things home just because they fit the list. They have to fit your days too, not just the moment; otherwise, it's a waste of hard earned money. But, the _best part_ was when you said that you kept the one sweater from your list for your Mom - *how thoughtful of you!!!* :) I have yet to see any others do something so sweet - bless your heart! -- Thank you so much for taking us on this shopping trip with you. Your fellow Ontario girl (up near North Bay), Shannon A. :)
I personally would NEVER buy real fur first hand but I think when you thrift it you’re at least giving it a second life & it’s not going to the dump/trash. And there’s lots of information about faux fur being actually worse for the environment when it comes to decomposing/creating. Ugh it’s a hard topic 😅 there’s no real winning either way imo 💖
Rachelle Spier I agree. One of the most sustainable things we can do is reuse what’s already here!
Yes it’s definitely a lot more sustainable with real fur and something that will decompose but I have a hard time with it cause of the smell and the real hairs. It makes me sneeze lol! And also for my own personal reasons I choose not to buy it even if it’s secondhand. It’s definitely hard to find a middle ground with this one 🙈
@@ThereSheGoess Same. I'm actually allergic to all animal hair fibers in clothing and will break out in a rash if it rests against my skin (so no cashmere, wool, angora, and fur). Luckily it's only a problem in clothing so I can cuddle all the cats and dogs in the world without any problems!
Jo Kim The same as you! Alpaca wool is the worst for me, I sneeze and get a horrible rash.
Anyone else agree faux fur just means micro plastic? When those fibers shed they leave micro plastic everywhere that never decomposes.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who hates faux fur.
I'm also against new real fur but a 2nd hand real leather or real fur coat has got to be a better option no? Am i wrong?
All faux leather or faux fur is just plastic. We need to stop using plastic oil based materials
You are absolutely right.
Also, I would like to add that the pleather has expiry date even if you don’t wear it. I had a pleather Moschino backpack, I used it for the first year, then I kept it in the closet for the summer... when i took it out of my closet .. the plastic started to crumble... it looked horrible!
after that, I just bought a real leather one which I still use 3 years after...
I agree, and always feel conflicted. I'd love to replace my moto jacket since my faux leather has started to disintegrate. Leather is cruel to the animals, but "vegan leather" is cruel to the planet. Another plastic jacket that will end up in a landfill when it begins to crumble... I guess I'll just keep waiting to find a second hand real leather. 😧
Yes! I have always thought that faux fur and leather have to have a terrible impact on the environment. I agree with no new leather and fur, but vintage and second hand is acceptable, as long as you are okay with it ethically.
that white knit granny sweater is adorable!
I'm so glad you bought the items you did and not the others. I agree 100% with your choices and reasons behind your decisions.
I’m 5.2 of slim built, I too have problems with straight leg jeans, but I recently thrifted (charity shop) Levi’s 501 men’s straight leg jeans which fits perfectly, and as you are a very petite gal try the children’s department (which I have) for straight leg jeans. More of these videos please. On another note I’ve just book a Eurostar from London to Paris for March, my daughter is so excited as the last time we were there she was 7 and she is now 16
I’m 5’3, so petite, and straight leg jeans are my favorite style of pant. I don’t like skinny jeans at all; they make my legs look too twiggy and it’s just not the style I’m into. If you’re struggling with straight leg jeans looking too frumpy, I generally find that cropping them to expose your ankles can help make them look more modern.
Absolutely agree with you Anna, the French girls/women has a put together look -;effortless, as well as the Italians
Rianna Tripp thanks i’m italian 🇮🇹
Yeah but the French genuinely DO throw things together and look great. Italians agonise over what they wear and spend AGES taking care of their wardrobe. Beautiful, maybe, but not effortless...
bbmcgee33 sorry I think you stereotyped french and italian people LOL soooo pizza mafia and mandolino
@@hequinox9760 Facilmente offesa, Signorina Lucchesi?? Un altro stereotipo, o la verità pura?? 🤔😂
Sei mai stata in Italia? Ci sono persone e persone 😚 e comunque in Italia nasce la moda, Versace, Gucci, Prada ecc ecc quindi bye babe 😉
I am SO glad you got that black jacket!! It looks sooo good on you Anna❤😍
Aw thanks babe!!
Great thrift trip! I love French fashion too! You get so lucky finding coats and blazers😄
I'm glad you didn't buy the tan coat and the tall boots. The coat was very similar to the one you were wearing, and the strings on the boots were too much. Loved the black bomber.
You find the most beautiful gems in thrift shops! Also I love how you shot and edited the shots of Paris
Thank you!! I found some old footage online and felt like it needed to be added for this video 🙆🏻♀️
The black faux shearling is very Isabel Marant as well. Best buy!
I really like the way you shop. For the longest time I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to know what to buy to make my wardrobe very high-fashion. I use to buy clothes randomly and then try them at home and never understand why I looked like a 5 year old who picked out her own clothes for school. Looking through a look-book and listing every piece in detail then looking for it is really smart. That way I can replicate the whole style. Thank you for the video!
That thrift store looks amazing! I’m so jealous
Being a short gal as well, straight leg jeans only work for me if they are ankle length to lower calf. Then they are actually my favourite style. Still able to wear them with like an ankle bootie without any leg showing. And i just buy jeans that are straight and cut them where I want, then you can hem it or leave it raw.
Ouu thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely keep looking then for the right pair and get them adjusted if I need to xx
Hi , Wow I'm blown away. You found everything that is gorgeous ❤ I would totally wear the heck out of that jacket 🥰 Beautiful editing.
Thank you 🖤🖤
You scored on the cardigan sweaters! That white one in particular is dreamy.
Love the cardi with roses....gorgeous!!
Enjoyed your video. I'm also interested in French Chic style. I adore your Irish sweater. That faux fur you picked up from Regal Furs is expensive. I've seen them on TSE. I believe the brand Heritage House is vintage - lucky you. Those tall boots are gorgeous. I didn't think much of that white knitted cardigan until I saw the close up with the details and pretty flowers, lucky you. Not sure if you bought the plaid blazer with the elbow patches but that is very '70's. Don't worry about the beret being a bit lose. That's an easy fix. To tighten just attach the back together to make it more snug. Also, it will stay on better and not move. There is a new Mission store where the old Value Village used to be. I haven't been there but I hear it's good. The Value Village that moved further down on Dundas Street is much larger and better now. Have you been to the Talize in Brampton? It is also very good.
Ohh I must keep an eye out for that brand then, definitely did not know about Regal Furs 😯 and I didn’t even up picking up the plaid jacket since i wasn’t a fan of the elbow patches!! ❤️ and thanks for all of those tips!!
French women buy clothes on the premise that they will wear them forever
I loved watching this video!!! You did such a great job from the list to the shop with me, and the haul! I did not find myself forwarding through the video. Thank you! 👌🏼😉
I've thrifted for a long time. But it can be overwhelming. I love the way you have a plan when you go thrifting. I'm going to try that next time I go. Great job!
I love finding, wearing real fur found at thrift stores; giving it a new life. You found some great clothing options.
Yeeee I’m glad you got that black jacket!! It’s awesome
OxyClean spray or pre-wash is the best!
I wash most everything in the was on gentle cycle.
I put sweaters in the dryer for 10 minutes on low heat then I take them out and block and dry flat.
I think you picked up some great things. The camel colored jacket was beautiful and I loved the red faux fur coat was fabulous!! I think you could have pulled it off with all your neutral colored clothes. Think of it like wearing red lipstick.
Draw me like on of ur french girls 💕💕💕 I LOOOOVEEE the faux fur mitts!
Hehe 😉
Enjoyed the video. I also want to tell you that as far as choosing clothing that suits your body type, peplum style tops and gathered waists that flare out over your hips are really flattering to you. I have watched most of your videos and have noted that those tops really do great things for your small frame. Sometimes we don't see ourselves as clearly as others do, so I thought I would share my opinion with you. I know the oversize fit is popular now, and I do like it in the blazers and in some sweaters, but it just doesn't flatter everyone. A small woman must be careful not to disappear in the clothing and get lost. Too much sweater and not enough girl , I say. You are adorable and must do as you wish.
Thank you for noticing haha! And it’s very true it’s sometimes hard to see and dress for your body type. I tend to wear loose clothing cause I’m a bit self conscious of my body but I’m starting to be more comfortable with wearing fitted things and just being more comfortable and happy with my body ❤️🙆🏻♀️
So I'm 5 ft and curvy. But straight jeans are hard to find when I go thrifting too. I found some straight legs by american eagle and they fit great. So try looking for the American eagle outfitters brand.
That black Moto is gorgeous! Looks great on you.
Your sweater is so pretty. If you have stains on it you can use Zote soap before you wash you be amazed stains come right out. Just scrub really good 😊hope it helps. Love you thrift store haul 💕👏💕
Loved this video theme! Yes create more of these type of videos! It’s really helpful to show current trends for each season! BTW I just bought a newsboys cap like 2 weeks ago cause they look so cute on you! And now I love it!
Aww I’m glad you bought it and glad you love it ❤️ its my favourite thing to wear for winter!
That blazer you picked up is beautiful! ❤️
Love French fashion!!
I really enjoyed this video! I would love to see more like this :)
I really love it the video!! I'm kinda going through a "re style phase" right now and one of the styles that I'm really felling comfortable wearing at winter time is the parisian, and I love thrifting, so seeing you finding all this gorgeous pieces inspired me to go to the thrift shop :D
Yay I’m glad! It’s always such a fun process when you go through a restyle phase I hope you find your gems 🙆🏻♀️💕
Actually obsessed with this style! My fashion pinterest board is just flooded with it and you really suit it Anna 💕💕💕
Aw thanks Ivy!! Your style is beautiful!!! 😍
Love that the hats, caps were on their own little shelf. :)
What are your style plans for Spring?! I noticed you have changed your style a lot lately. I miss your boho days 😭😛
I love vintage knit/hand knit sweaters.
The thing with straight leg jeans on us (5'3 and under) is that they're always going to be too long just like most jeans! When trying them on I always turn under the hem to get a better read on how they'll actually look so they don't bunch up from the knee down. Give it a try cuz straight leg jeans are happening now!
I don't think there's anything wrong with buying real fur at the thrift.
I just didn’t want to buy it for my own personal reasons!
Just a thought of mine is that I would rather buy second hand leather or fur than let it go to a land fill and by buying that item I am giving that animal a new life and purpose and not just letting it rot for years in the land fill. Just my view but of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
@@lindseymarsteller8418 Yes, that's exactly how I feel about it.
Lindsey Marsteller in my opinion I don’t think it’s very nice to wear dead animal carcass at all ....that’s just me no ifs or buts....to me you’re still wearing dead animals around Nd it’s just sad ...like wearing human skin around just because it’s second hand ..wearing it is like justifying whichever company made it that it’s okay ,when it’s not
@@pandalover660 I guess we all are entitled to our own opinion and obviously we all have different views on the topic. But How did we go from buying second hand furs to wearing human skin ????
Hi Anna, you got some great stuff!! Being only 5ft and not real skinny, I too have a super hard time finding flattering jeans. Chico's have great fitting skinny jeans but other than that, I found the flare-style ones to be pretty flattering.
Thanks so much for that tip Carole!! I’ve never heard of that shop before, I hope they have that in Canada!
Loved the hand made sweater super cute on u
I would be so happy if I found a Chanel blazer 🙌🏽🤗🤗
Omg I would be happy for you 😥🤍
lovin the Collective Soul in the background at the thrift store
You definitely scored on the jacket and cardigan!! The long coats at the thrift are cheap than buying it for almost $200 😫 love your style somuch! Wish I could wear cute clothes soon! Winter here is so bad!! Btw, i love how you are so mindful about shopping stuff!! ❤❤
Thanks Maryyyy!! I’m still keeping an eye out for ya for that teddy bear coat!! Hope you’re staying warm babe xx
Omg really?? Thank you so much Anna!! Stay warm! ❤
Wow! Those knee high boots!! 😍💖✨
I too struggle with jeans. I've tried so many pairs and I find that skinny jeans go with my petite height.
You could try to wash the beret in warm water or steam it and it might shrink. But be careful 🙂 I have one red beret and I can tell it have shrunk due to washing, it's a bit more thick than my other ones, and look just a little bit more felted.
Hey if you're looking for a cute french black beret, Urban Outfitters on Yonge St. is selling some for 50% off! Found a few for just $5! just fyi
That white knitted sweater is soooo cute!
I love everything you picked up omg!! What’s the brand of that black coat??
Yes pls tell us!!!
As for straight leg jeans, I'm just barely 5'0" but I've found a way to make it work. For reference, my top and bottom halves are the same length; if you have a short or long torso, I can't guarantee this will work for you. What I did was hem the jeans so they hit right above my ankle. They're also high-waisted and I tuck my top in to enlongate my lower half. I usually pair them with some cute shoes (in the summer I go for cute platform sandals) and a more fitted top. Again, this is what I found works for me and my proportions. I think to only way to really figure it out is a mix of research and trial & error. Another tip: I experimented with pinning the hem and tried on different shoes to see what length would work best.
Thanks for the tip!! I have a shorter torso and also a inverted triangle shape so I always find it weird because my shoulders are a bit wider so the proportions are weird 🙈 but definitely will look into this!!
Love that white rosebud cardi!!! Use baby wipes first to see if stains come out. Might just be food. Mittens were great too!
This was a great new style of video! I hope you do more!
Loved your sweater u have on super cute
im 5ft 1. I would say size down and I always have to hem or fold the legs under.
I just love your style.
Girl that’s like a thrift store goldmine. It’d take me 2 years to find items that nice. 👍🏽
This might be an ignorant question but I’m genuinely curious as I’ve passed up so many thrifting opportunities in the past but - how do you properly wash and sanitize outerwear? Would dry cleaning be the best way? Or does it just depend on washing instructions on the tag? Wondering what the rest of the world does!
Thanks in advance :) xo
No not at all! I always read the cleaning instructions before I wash them but for some coats like faux fur ones I’ll put it in the wash and leave it to air dry and brush out the fur. And for other coats that can’t be washed I’ll bring them to the dry cleaners. It’s either those two things for me or sometimes I won’t wash them 🙈 I know it’s insanitary but sometimes I get lazy tbh!
I will pop it in the wash if I can. If not, I’ll take it to the cleaners. If I’m in a pinch, I’ll use leather/suede cleaner wipes and Lysol.
Steam sanitize them in the dryer if you have that option or use an actual hand held steamer to sanitize
I’m petite 5’. I love everything! Yes, do more video like this. TFS 🌞
Try looking for jeans/Levi in the boys dept. Because you are so petite they should fit!
Amazing job!
Like: coat and turtleneck you are wearing, second black coat you showed, camel coat you called a winner, black and white plaid coat, hunter green coat, cream coat, black and white tweed coat, first real fur coat you showed, maroon fur coat, black moto style coat, teal satin blazer, multicolored plaid blazer, studded beret (flashy but cool), black knit cardigan you tried on, grey cardigan you tried on, the straight legs you tried on (when you said you failed), black beret (looked cute on you), peach beret (again looked cute on you)
I have real fur coats that I inherited from my grandmother and they have lasted me over 25 years and still going strong. I think faux fur is way more harmful for the environment as it doesn't last and people keep buying new ones to replace them. Not to mention that it is all polyester! Thrifting real fur is way more sustainable
It is but I tend to thrift faux fur because of my own personal reasons. And I find that real fur makes me sneeze and itchy! I 💯 agree with the whole sustainability aspect but it’s definitely a personal choice for me!
I have the same problem too straight leg jeans look frumpy on me too I love to wear skinny jeans they just work for me I like how the skinny jean stops around my ankles and I just like how it looks on me I'm 5ft something
So pretty! You might want to double check the label on your coat though, if it's real shearling, I don't think it's what you may believe. Lovely video
Olive green is the color of my eyes... :) Kinda like a cat. lol
Keep those jeans there just right fit for you. I like your choices of coats.
You rock..
The prices are fabulous💖🌏🌎🌍
This was a fun video😊💕
Magnifique !! (>~^)
i personally don’t find any issue with purchasing real leather or fur from the thrift store. it’s already made, and i’d much rather buy it to save it from being made for no reason and going into the landfill. that’s just the waste of a life.
More French style please!
Don’t understand, you put things on your list to get however, you say you already have these items so it was no need to thrift them once you found them🤔
The whole point of it was to show others that You can find these items from my list at the thrift store while also still being a conscious consumer! I personally don’t like to thrift in bulk and purchase items for the sake of the video which is such a waste!
I know that buying fur isn’t the best but ur buying second hand fur ur not contributing to the company that made it they aren’t making anymore money off of it.
Yes 💯! I’m just not buying it for my own personal ethical reasons 🙌
There She Goes I’m curious, is it mostly to do w the idea of wearing a dead animal essentially that you have a problem with? Bc ethically, it’s more sustainable to buy secondhand fur than even new faux fur (it’s more environmentally destructive to produce since it’s plastic).
zetroc kind where I was going with my question. It’s more harmful buying plastic fur than buying second hand real fur which is longer lasting as well
Loved the four fur jacket super cute aw I'm so sad u didn't get those boots they was super cute too bad they was to tight on your ankles
Oooo
Lovelyyyy..
What a beatifull nice clothes...
Wow,
Look so good on you😍💖🌏🌎🌍
Love that jacket 😍
Thanks Queen ❤️❤️
I loved those boots I hope u got them
Awww I really liked that black wool coat on you. But I get that you have a lot of coats. I'm starting to get too many as well! haha
Oh also...look for Gloria Vanderbelt Jeans if you can find them. They are high waist and straight legged and I feel like they are really flattering when you are not that tall. I am obsessed with them! But I always have to cut them at the bottom because I'm 5'1 and then I just let them fray. It looks great with ankle booties.
@@styleago-go3028 Great tip! I am also short at 5' so I mainly wear just skinny jeans as well!
Is the gold necklace your wearing is a Owl?
No it’s a star pendant from Mejuri!!
I think it’s great you don’t buy real fur, even if it is secondhand, bc it gives the impression that it’s okay to wear real fur. Also, many people don’t realize that real fur coats/accessories can be donated to wildlife organizations so it’s not just discarded. As for faux fur, personally I would only buy second hand from now on bc micro plastics are def an issue. Hopefully, more designers will follow in Stella McCartney’s footsteps and opt for more sustainable options when it comes to faux fur.
Yes! I just have my own ethics and values that I want to stand for. It’s definitely a tricky one with the sustainable aspect too!
What are the prices? Whay you don't tell them?
They have been included!
What store is this exactly? Location
Its in the description!
💗💗💗
None of those jeans were actually straight leg jeans
😍😍♥️♥️♥️
Gaaaaah those over the knee boooooots. 😢
💕✨⚡️
oh god, THE CHEWING GUM... why??
Because I felt like I had bad breath lol so I wanted to chew gum !
@@ThereSheGoess Just chew mints instead then. That's what I do- Altoids, Starbucks After Coffee Mints
Wait you wear wool but not fur? Lol
Alexis Rose it isn’t the same. You dont have to kill the sheep for wool, but for fur yes and the way they kill a fox or another animal is cruel.
ever saw a naked fox?🙈
meanwhile parisians want to dress like americans
emilytchuu they really don’t! Maybe other places in France but parisians keep this specific style
