Fountainhead Palace is not a realm. Its a physical place in the same world as Ashina. The rejuvenating waters is what starts all the mystical stuff at fountainhead. Likely a meteor of some sort. He only mentions entering the divine realm when you encounter the divine dragon in the clouds, but not when you enter Fountainhead Palace. Or the fact the waters literally fall into Ashina Depths from the mountains.
The goal of mist people is to ascend to godhood by becoming a carp, but, apparently, only the worthy can become a real HUGE god-carp, and the others become a red-eyed carp, which, while immortal (kinda... the item description mentions that "his eyes are everlasting") isn't powerful.

Very interesting that someone mentioned the journey to the west in the “true ending” is a reference of the chinese novel/real history of Xuanzang journeying to The birthplace of Buddha for the grand text. There is another piece of evidence that people might of missed. The story of xuanzang happened during Tang dynasty (610-907). And Sangoku period is about 1400-1600 ish. If people paid more attention to the building styles in fountainhead mountain, it’s not hard to miss that these building styles are very different from the Ashina Castle which stood during the sangoku period. And apiece of history info here is that those buildings in the fountainhead are in a different japanese era where it had the most influence from Tang Dynasty. All these buildings looks almost identical to the ones in the Tang period. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Yah I think I’m convinced that the birthplace of divine dragon is Indeed China. And China is also known to be a land where soooo many people and even the greatest emperors themselves seek for immortality. (Side note: there is a myth story stated that the first emperor of china - Qin shihuang sent 300 boys and 300 girls to the eastern sea to seek for immortality, which gave birth to Japan. Hence why Japanese people are short. Well, it’s just an interesting side note. I personally think this is bs and disrespectful to the Japanese culture. But, it could be Miyazaki mocking the Chinese for blindly seeking this immortality as well.) Edit: hmmmm I went back to look at the divine dragon design. If this dragon came from china, then miazaki made a mistake. The serpentine creature indeed resembles the asian dragon figure; However, the difference is that the chinese dragon has 5 fingers where the japanese ones have 4. I counted only 4 for the divine dragon in game. Lol anywaysssss
Folks need to stop taking the piece of information regarding the dragon's origins so literally. It's more than likely "the west" simply refers to the divine realm itself, as the west in buddhist thought signified divinity and moving closer towards the buddha. So I'm pretty sure the divine dragon coming from "the west" is more a symbolic thing than a literal description of where the dragon came from geographically. I do think you're right about Chinese influence on the architecture though. One thing to note is that the okami warriors wear an older suit of armour too, and carry tachi as opposed to katanas, which were the swords samurai used in the period of history preceding the sengoku era and began to wane in usage just after the attempted Mongolian invasion.
The dragon holds a sword that was gifted to Japanese by the Chinese, I am almost sure of it because I saw the real picture of that sword in some article, and it is thought to be purely a decorative one
Just chechked it and it was actually gifted by the Koreans to the Japanese, but something something suggests that the Seven-Branched Sword might have been created in China
Fountainhead Palace =/= The Divine Realm. Fountainhead is a physical place in the same area as Ashina. You only enter the Divine Realm when you encounter the Divine Dragon. This is confirmed by Sekiro's dialogue. He only states being in the divine realm when you encounter the dragon, but not when you enter fountainhead.
I think your analysis of the nobles is pretty spot on, but the warriors are the Okami clan, described as the inhuman relatives of Tomoe, who was Takeru’s immortal shinobi. We know she was like us because she apparently attempted suicide in order to allow Takeru to become a normal human. We find their graves in Ashina castle, but I’m not convinced that’s where their actual bodies are, as we know Takeru likely returned to the divine realm if his final words are to be taken seriously, which heavily implies the young child’s body we find before fighting the dragon is Takeru. That just leaves Tomoe. It seems she was around long enough to teach Genichiro about how to use lightning, as well as the Floating Passage combat art, which is his signature flurry of strikes. The Okami use a similar technique. We also know the Okami likely sought out the Fountainhead palace, as they leave a text instructing you to take the big leap of faith into the void. Also, the description of the Sabimaru mentions they fought with Ashina, and that the blue rust poison was very effective against them. It’s why I used that for fighting them. Anyway you should do a video on Tomoe and the Okami, they’re a fascinating part of the lore
Yeah, I wasn't informed enough about the Okami. Still, I am willing to stand by the possibility of any woman drinking of Waters of the Palace and undergoing the transformation :) You have a great analysis of Tomoe there. I am actually nearly done with my script on Tomoe and Takeru, so a video will be out within a day or two. It is really hard to reach a lot of conclusions based on the information presented, but I have a couple ideas.
Creeepling I would think that maybe the water turns any woman into an Okami if they weren’t all skilled warriors with a very distinct fighting style For me, the big mysteries are what happened to Tomoe (perhaps she killed herself with the Black Mortal Blade), why the Okami sought out the Fountainhead Palace, and why they seem to serve the Palace Nobles. That last bit kind of reminds me of what happened to the Ruin Sentinels in the Ringed City, but I don’t have any real evidence to back it up
Couple of inaccuracies here. The person found before fighting the dragon is a kneeling woman, and not a young child. So not only could it not be Takeru from the gender being wrong, but Takeru is also implied to be beheaded by Tomoe in one of the texts (in order to get blood of a divine heir in order to create the Fountainhead Aroma, which also explains why Takeru is no longer around.) Most people suspect that the kneeling woman is actually Tomoe. Tomoe also has no connection to the Okami clan, at least genetically. And I have no idea where you got that stuff about Tomoe being immortal or sacrificing herself to make Takeru immortal.
Sterling if Takeru was a divine heir, how would he have been beheaded without the mortal blade? He couldn’t even be scratched otherwise. Also there are multiple references to the Okami being Tomoe’s relatives. And about Tomoe being immortal in the way Sekiro is immortal, if you follow the purification ending, you’ll know she tried to kill herself because she believed she was shackling Takeru. It’s the same reason Sekiro kills himself in this ending. We also know that Takerus final words were something to the effect of him returning to the divine realm. Also, first time I saw the dead body, it looked small, and considering how feminine Kuro’s features can look sometimes, I didn’t think it too far fetched that it could be a young, long-haired boy, plus its robes looked similar to Kuros. Also, considering the armored appearance of the Okami, and her skill with a blade and arcane arts, I’d imagine Tomoe would probably be dressed up as a warrior Conversely, however, if Tomoe had the black mortal blade, perhaps she could’ve killed Takeru
Awesome lore video!!!! Keep it up, but maybe balance the low voice, because I had to turn up the volume too much and some of the game sounds were too loud in contrast.
Great stuff Man! I can tell that you're being very in-depth in the research before making the video, which is great! Didn't even notice when I first played that the red nobles were eating specifically the warriors! Can't wait to see what's next, definitely subbed. Also, love the NANI fish. Hope to see more funny/random stuff like that too!
@@Creeepling btw, how did you become old and feeble without the noble just straight up coming at you and eating you? And do you think the glowing worms on the carp corpse at the bottom of the lake have a connection to the centipedes? Sorry for all the questions
@@Spencisms No problems at all! If you quit game, you restart where you were last out of combat. I sneaked there, got enfeebled and quit game instantly :) There's also a roof coming out of the water, if you climb onto it a noble will see you and enfeeble you, but won't be able to reach you across the water. You will die if you try to swim while feeble. The worms - no, they are not connected. The centipedes are based on mukade, it is not aquatic at all. The worms look like "truly precious bait", so their presence might be an indication that one of the previous "masters" was killed by the same type of bait.
Hey when Genichiro uses way of Tomoe his skin turns kind of purple, similar to the blue skin of the fountain head warriors. I heard you say Tomoe was one of the blue people in a video and I think this backs it up a bit. Awesome vids btw
I'm going to be a little dramatic. But, you're doing God's work. Keep up the great work with these videos. Adding so much more story to the game that I never would've thought of or care about till your videos.
The ‘mist warriors’ are Okami, separate from the nobles. The mini boss on the branch is titled as the okami leader, and can be instakilled by the sabimaru, if you read its description it was used to kill okami. My guess here is that the okami manipulate humans into becoming nobles for some reason, you didn’t go over the fact that feeding the priest the fountainhead water turns him into a mist noble either. The carp tender fish man is likely carp like in appearance due to his worship of the carp, if you kill the carp he will die too, and his daughter (now an old woman) will be resting by his side soothing him, she’s likely been drained of her youth, or has aged from being there. You bring up some interesting points, but you should do a bit more searching before making a whole video on this section
you clearly know that all the warriors are female if you read the blue rust poison description it says that the blue rust poison was made to drive off the inhuman okami warrior women and it would probably work on their descendants and hitting them once with sabimaru poisons them and stuns them for a long time
Here's a question. When you go under the water in Mibu village you see a bunch of people buried upside down in the sediment with only thier feet showing. What's up with that?
Good one! There's actually more of those in the "fields" of the village where the ghosts are. In the bushes to the right of the shrine. I don't really have the village solved yet, but might have something to do with those guys bring able to casually bury underground - like next to the house of their hunter.
Nice one dude, really enjoyed it, earned a sub. I love your relaxing tone, I would prefer it to be a little louder though . Also the background game's noises can be a little distracting as you speak. Most of Sekiro's ost is out so you could use it as background music. Also music from different From titles could really fit some instances. Keep up the good work!
After watching countless of sekiro lore videos, I noticed one same answer. Everyone is seeking immortality on this game. That's all there is. The lores are so cool though. The game tells the story vaguely. Its not like the usual games who tells the story as you progress.
the old lady in the courtyard house tells you that the nobles have a constant hunger for youth, the warriors seem pretty young and so is Wolf. So that explains and why the old ladies are still alive. No clue as to why they have not transformed tho, maybe all the nobles are males and women aren't allowed to drink the water of the palace.
It is worth mentioning those warriors are the Okami Warrior Women, At least it is something implied by the Okami leader, and the fact that Sabimaru always one hit poisons any of them
I think the Orgre movesets is for gameplay reason, like the pot here want you to feed "stealthly without being seen" and as a player I think "Well...stealth isn't an option but I still cannot be seen...(creepy smile)" so Form probraly don't want it to be too easy and make you think twice. Also those Orgre are just normal human over dose on rejuvenating water. If you want to do lore on this place then I recommend you check the actual name of this place "Minamoto"
@@yourbabushka3750 Um...no Tomoe never confirm to be Ookami and she is most likely not Ookami since her status was god much like the noble that aren't the same speice as Ookami. In fact, I think the picture where you learn lighting reversal is actually depicting Isshin vs Tomoe and she look very human.
@Don Immortal it also said that she was a foreigner and most likely used lightning. Okami warriors in fountainhead palace almost look like they are dancing when they fight and isshin himself states she seemed to dance as she fought. Her name was tomoe and she taught genichiro and in his way of tomoe stage he uses lightning
I think people are missing the fact that the Fountain Head Palace is in ruins, aka what we are experience in the Palace is nothing but a shadow of what it was. First of all about those weddings, if you notice a weeding ceremony hasn't been done in a heck of a long time also this weeding used to happen all the time, people at least originally weren't whisked away, also Tomoe came from this place and she was just considered a foreigner not a inhuman being. I believe the Fountain Head Palace used to be an important religious site for the people of Ashina, the palace itself wasnt dangerous but at some time people stopped worshiping the place, some bad stuff went down and people were corrupted, but other people escape this such as Tomoe and went to live on Ashina.
That lady stabbing the Mist Noble in that temple can be found earlier, in Fountainhead, standing on a sunken building with it's roof sticking out of the water. Near the Giant Carp's area. She will talk about her father and how the Mist Nobles took him from her. You can find her on top of that building before progressing past the Giant Carp underwater area. If you kill the Giant Carp with one of the Pot Nobles Truly Precious Bait, then go pluck off one of it's whiskers at the Guardian Ape's Watering Hole, then return to the Giant Noble in Fountainhead to tell him the carp is dead, you can return to find the same woman kneeling near the Giant. The Giant Noble was her father.
The large noble who feeds the great carp is the father of the two human women in Fountainhead Palace. Just wrapped up this questline the other night and it was spectacular.
@@Creeepling Basically the fountainhead palace people tricked the father into becoming a noble, and the two sisters managed to follow him into the palace somehow. One sister sought to bring peace to the father, and the wanted revenge on the other nobles.
Pretty sure that “two woman “ you mention at the end are the same , same clothes, and she said that her dad or husband (don’t remember clearly) had transformed into a noble . Good video though , am enjoying these :)
One thing that I thought was pretty cool. you can find a bottle of that palace water and take it to a guy in a house near the wedding cave door. He'll then proceed to drink it. Then go rest and come back and he 'll be transformed into one of the red robed mist nobles. Bonus: kill him, and you get 5 treasure carp scales!?
I love the reverse of themes from their previous series. In dark souls most of them would love to stay dead to avoid hollowing and turning into monsters Then here everyone can't stop trying to become immortal to the point they become monsters
Great video, I love the world and lore of Sekiro that FromSoftware has built. Just some criticism to help; you might want to up your audio levels a bit, you're a little quiet.
Sekiro is a very pro buddhist game - which isn't so surprising considering Miyazaki's output. So it would make sense that there is a dichotomy between how Japan's 2 religions are portrayed. Shinto rituals and the gods that govern them are almost entirely shown negatively, with the game making it abundantly clear that obsessions with life and immortality and duty and ritual are harmful and perpetuate suffering. Meanwhile the Buddhist monks of Sempo are evil only because they abandoned buddha and sought immortality, making pacts with the shinto spirits of corruption (centepedes). All of the best endings are only achieved when the MC abandons the arbitrary duties he's shackled with, and it's no surprise that in doing so a shinto palace becomes one of his last obstacles
I do not believe the females at Fountainhead are actually "Mist people" as you call them. I believe they are, as suggested by the lightning-throwing mini-boss at the end, the descendants of the Okami warrior women mentioned in Subimaru's description. They are extremely weak to poison, just as the blade says, and perhaps they are the original inhabitants of Fountainhead Palace.
I'm pretty sure there's only one human woman in fountainhead palace, you just advance her story. First she tells you her father was taken, then she gets in and takes revenge for her father. It would be cool to understand her story...how did she get there and why didn't she turn? Did she sneak her way into fountainhead palace looking for her father? If she got there in a wedding, didn't she drink the water? How many years did she wait for an oportunity to enter the noble's palace?
There's two. In my save where I didn't complete the fish quest one is dead on the floor with the red nobles. The other one is in Mibu manor, talking about her father.
I am pretty sure that the nobles are not the same species as the warriors. The warriors are a clan of women known as the okami clan. Lady tomoe was a okami clan member too.
I wonder how many years this game was planned. Bloodborne had the headless bloodletting beast which heavily resembles the guardian monkey, even with a maggot/centipede where the head is. Also the whole DLC covenant especially with Yamamura and the vermin. And the village Mibu reminds me of the fishing pond, both filled with villagers who are praying to slug/centipede infested waters. Like holy fuck Miyazaki, you clever bastard.
Did you maybe try to leave the red-robes feeding on the corpses alive.. so that maybe the woman that later comes would fight with them as you re-enter the object?
I kinda doubt the blue mist nobles are withering away. The dragon/tree things before the lead up to the divine dragon are really reminiscent of them, elongated necks with faces and even having flutes. Seems to me they are gathering life force to become dragon... like beings. Honestly it feels like we are missing a piece of the puzzle to put it all together concisely.
@@Creeepling Ah fair enough, I can't deny the eyes and the extra hands xD Still I can't help but feel like there's a connection between the nobles, the carps and those... dragon things. More observation required I suppose.
@@Check242 There's definitely something going on with nobles and carps :) But I don't know where to place the old dragon things. Maybe there is a connection, indeed, but it's hard to tell right now :)
I noticed that only the blue robe nobles can suck the life force from the player, while the red robe nobles cannot. I'm not sure if this has any lore implications behind it. Maybe the red robe nobles has to physically eat the Okami warriors because they don't have this ability
While the warriors have female voices, the first female we find tells us her father was taken to the palace. She's the one that stabs the nobles who eats the warriors. It perhaps implies that her father was a warrior..or the red robes may also eat the blue robes
@@Creeepling ok so it's like the top floor section of the central palace. If you fast travel to the palace grounds, you enter the small room then take a left to head back towards the main staircase between the two waterfalls, you just head straight down and the room with the palanquins is guarded by two of the warriors. The room room is aligned dead center of the whole palace and just below it and slightly to the front is the travel statue next to the giant cherry blossom tree.

Other than that I really liked this video :)
I'm pretty sure the mist warriors are the Okami women and I don't think they are related to the people of mibu village. I'm not even certain they are related to the mist nobles either (biologically speaking)
I dont think the fountainhead palace is actually part of the Divine realm. Wolf upon meaning the divine dragon makes a question of is this the divine realm. The fountainhead palace is the gate to the divine realm but not actually part of it.
There is only one old lady and she is the daughter of the huge one that feeds the master carp. She tells sekiro that her father was turned into one of those things and all he cares about is feeding the fish.
The first one then the one on the roof top. I just thought they were the same person just a different spot for different dialog cause at that point you would be the back door of the Palace
Great video! I had a bit of trouble hearing you though even at max volume, maybe you should raise your voices volume or your mic sensitivity a little next time
if the noble are cannibalizing on the okami women then that must mean a shortage of youth and vitality. the ashina clan was once allied with the fountain head palace but something went wrong and the two side went to war with each other. did isshin ashina discover the true intention behind the wedding procession and the fountain head palace? that human were going up there not as a reward to ascend to a higher realm, but to be nourishment for the nobles that live there.
This game has so many parts that could connect it to Bloodborne if it wasn’t confirmed as a new universe. Makes me a little upset that I can’t canonically connect them :/
The Warriors are a race of female fish people. They were born that way. Lady Tomo was one of these inhuman lady Warriors. The Mist nobles were originally human men who were given immortality by drinking water from The Fountainhead Palace.
In Japanese mythos worthy carp who struggle up waterfalls turn into dragons perhaps the ultimate goal of the nobles isn’t just to ascend to be a carp but to become a god a dragon this games literal symbol of immortality
The nobles sorta look like the tree dragons
Nobles are just magikarps trying to be a Gyrados

yeah and you could think of a centipede as a sort of false dragon which is why that type of immortality is called the infested instead of divine

what is sad is how a place as beautyful and pure as the divine realm is being tainted by the folly of weak humans...
Great analysis
Creeepling I would think that maybe the water turns any woman into an Okami if they weren’t all skilled warriors with a very distinct fighting style
For me, the big mysteries are what happened to Tomoe (perhaps she killed herself with the Black Mortal Blade), why the Okami sought out the Fountainhead Palace, and why they seem to serve the Palace Nobles.
Also, considering the armored appearance of the Okami, and her skill with a blade and arcane arts, I’d imagine Tomoe would probably be dressed up as a warrior
Conversely, however, if Tomoe had the black mortal blade, perhaps she could’ve killed Takeru
Awesome lore video!!!! Keep it up, but maybe balance the low voice, because I had to turn up the volume too much and some of the game sounds were too loud in contrast.

You will die if you try to swim while feeble.
The worms - no, they are not connected. The centipedes are based on mukade, it is not aquatic at all. The worms look like "truly precious bait", so their presence might be an indication that one of the previous "masters" was killed by the same type of bait.
@@Creeepling ok awesome! Thank you so much!

It’s such a relaxing area and so beautiful. Probably the most gorgeous place in a fromsoftware game.
Fountainhead palace was such an amazing area in this game, I wish we spent more time there.
Hey when Genichiro uses way of Tomoe his skin turns kind of purple, similar to the blue skin of the fountain head warriors. I heard you say Tomoe was one of the blue people in a video and I think this backs it up a bit. Awesome vids btw
The "mist warriors" are actually called okami warrior women and the snake eyes of the gun fort are them to. Reference sakimaru description.
I'm going to be a little dramatic. But, you're doing God's work. Keep up the great work with these videos. Adding so much more story to the game that I never would've thought of or care about till your videos.
Forget what they say creeepling your soft voice helps me sleep at night
very interesting I was wondering why the citizens of the palace all looked so weird and this answered it perfectly.
You bring up some interesting points, but you should do a bit more searching before making a whole video on this section
you clearly know that all the warriors are female if you read the blue rust poison description it says that the blue rust poison was made to drive off the inhuman okami warrior women and it would probably work on their descendants and hitting them once with sabimaru poisons them and stuns them for a long time
Great video, didnt know about the different execution when you are enfeebled. awesome stuff !
It's not just execution, works on normal kills, too! :)
Them nobles creep me the hell out just the idea of them gives me goosebumps
Here's a question. When you go under the water in Mibu village you see a bunch of people buried upside down in the sediment with only thier feet showing. What's up with that?
Good one! There's actually more of those in the "fields" of the village where the ghosts are. In the bushes to the right of the shrine. I don't really have the village solved yet, but might have something to do with those guys bring able to casually bury underground - like next to the house of their hunter.
Could do a lot with Japanese lore about ghosts and death then, I'll look it up, thanks for the response I enjoyed the video. @@Creeepling

@@Creeepling Oh got to check it out then, expect my comment there
After watching countless of sekiro lore videos, I noticed one same answer.
It is worth mentioning those warriors are the Okami Warrior Women, At least it is something implied by the Okami leader, and the fact that Sabimaru always one hit poisons any of them
Great video man at least somebody is studying Sekiro keep it up 👍🏻
I think the Orgre movesets is for gameplay reason, like the pot here want you to feed "stealthly without being seen" and as a player I think "Well...stealth isn't an option but I still cannot be seen...(creepy smile)" so Form probraly don't want it to be too easy and make you think twice. Also those Orgre are just normal human over dose on rejuvenating water.
If you want to do lore on this place then I recommend you check the actual name of this place "Minamoto"
The warriors are called Okami warrior women, known for their weakness of poison and ability to control lightning.
Definitely weak to poison
Sabimarus whole existence is to wreck them
Which is who lady tomoe is and she taught genichiro how to use lightning
@@yourbabushka3750 Um...no Tomoe never confirm to be Ookami and she is most likely not Ookami since her status was god much like the noble that aren't the same speice as Ookami. In fact, I think the picture where you learn lighting reversal is actually depicting Isshin vs Tomoe and she look very human.
@Don Immortal it also said that she was a foreigner and most likely used lightning. Okami warriors in fountainhead palace almost look like they are dancing when they fight and isshin himself states she seemed to dance as she fought. Great video! I never thought about any of this regarding Fountainhead's inhabitants.
Great topic! I never noticed what they were feeding on lol just attacked as soon as I found them
Amazing stuff man, looking forward to more!
I think that the "MIst Warriors" as you called them are actually the Okami Warrior Women.
The large noble who feeds the great carp is the father of the two human women in Fountainhead Palace. Just wrapped up this questline the other night and it was spectacular.
Yes, he is! :) I didn't finish that quest though, killed him :(
@@Creeepling Basically the fountainhead palace people tricked the father into becoming a noble, and the two sisters managed to follow him into the palace somehow. One sister sought to bring peace to the father, and the wanted revenge on the other nobles.
The Great Carp having human teeth really messed me up when swimming past him.
Scary stuff.
There are fish that actually have teeth like that irl.
Mist Warrior -> nope
*Okami* described in the text of the Sabimaru prosthetic -> yes
Great vid bro, I was shocked to see your channel wasn't so much bigger, hoping to find sekiro lol
Thanks! Fixed the sound in the latest video :)
Good work man but you could stand to raise the volume a little but that's my only complaint

nice video man,who is the girl in the stone before the divine dragon?
Very nicely put together
Can you also explain the Senpou temple and especially those weird centipede infested bug puking mummies in it someday ?
Should be in one of the next vids :)
Excellent work, sir!! Subbed! :)

It's pretty much confirmed that the warriors are the Okami women, due to their weakness against sabimaru.

She kinda knives them herself after you open a door for her :)
I don't think so, honestly. For that the nobles would have to shed a pair of arms and grow a pair of eyes :)
@@Creeepling Ah fair enough, I can't deny the eyes and the extra hands xD
Still I can't help but feel like there's a connection between the nobles, the carps and those... dragon things.
Hm, doesn't the red robed noble in Minu Manor use drain? I was under impression he did, I think I even tested for that...
While the warriors have female voices, the first female we find tells us her father was taken to the palace. She's the one that stabs the nobles who eats the warriors. It perhaps implies that her father was a warrior..or the red robes may also eat the blue robes
I believe her father is the Carp feeding Noble :)
There is a room full of palanquins with chains wrapped around them and you can hear breathing inside of them.
Hmm, where?
@@Creeepling ok so it's like the top floor section of the central palace. If you fast travel to the palace grounds, you enter the small room then take a left to head back towards the main staircase between the two waterfalls, you just head straight down and the room with the palanquins is guarded by two of the warriors. The room room is aligned dead center of the whole palace and just below it and slightly to the front is the travel statue next to the giant cherry blossom tree.

The Sabimaru description mentioned something about the Okami women...
David Cosford it mentions that the blue rust found in its blade was instrumental in combating the Okami warriors.
Managed to get a kill on one of those nobles while I was frail and elderly. Hit him in the face when he came in to tackle me, he looked so surprised.
There are two, I could literally walk from a living one to a dead one on my save :)

The Warriors are a race of female fish people. They were born that way. Lady Tomo was one of these inhuman lady Warriors. The Mist nobles were originally human men who were given immortality by drinking water from The Fountainhead Palace.
