      @@Jewgoo uh, you do know that the Age of Dark, as in the age of mankind, was supposed to proceed after the age of fire right? Only Gwynn repeatedly extended the Age of Fire far beyond its expiration date and forced mankind to willingly link the fire for him and become hollows. When you say praise the sun, you are basically saying you are proud to be Gwynn's slave. But not even his fire could last forever after linking the fire so much and he's hollow by the time you meet him in Dark Souls 1. In every Dark Souls where you snuff out the Flame, you are making the objectively right choice. It even extends to the Dark Souls 3 where the Royal Family gave the pygmy kings (i.e ancient humans) the Ringed City to distract them from the fact that they were screwing them over by linking the fire again.

I understand now why that was but I thought after first speaking with issin he'd tell the ashina that you're on their side at least, since their interference just weakens ashina's forces spent fighting a shinobi that's on their side. Gameplay wise it makes perfect sense that enemies would remain enemies, but ashina's at risk of falling and they can't afford wasting all of the anti-ministry personnel on a single shinobi.

    • @baptistelasbats3952
      @baptistelasbats3952 5 лет назад +4

      Maybe, but to me, it's more likely that he was trying to get it for himself at first and then backed on Sekiro. I'm not convinced Lady Butterflies betrayed Owl. He needed somebody to wear the responsability for the betrayal, when he meets Kuro 3 years after Hirrata, he tries to make him believe he's only here to save him from Ashina, which could only have worked if somebody else was proven to be responsible for the betrayal that led to the sack of the estate, Lady Butterflies was the perfect one for this.
      Just see how the setting is perfect in Hirata estate to lead Kuro to give the blood to Owl: Owl dies, he needs to be reborn, Sekiro is taken by Lady Butterflies, and tells Kuro "do what must be done", meaning "share your power or we're done". At the time, the logical option for Kuro is to revive Owl with the Dragon's blood, hoping he will save them!
      But something goes wrong. That is, Sekiro is stronger than they believed, and kills Lady Butterflies. From this moment, Kuro has no longer reasons to share his power since Sekiro has won. So Owl kills him, and lets Kuro revive him. With this, he doesn't get the Dragon's blood, but can hope to have somebody with the Dragon's blood under his orders. Better than nothing.
      That's the way I see it, but it's the kind of moment in which From Soft are like: "believe what's the most likely".
      Damned the story in Sekiro is quite brilliant, can't wait for the dlc.

    What about Wolf unwittingly taking critical pieces of Ashinas defenses before the attack? Gyobu stops you passing the castle gates.... as well as the Ministry, now hes gone. You also meet the Tengu having slain several ministry "rats" no doubt he wouldnt have needed to appear and deal with them if Gyobu were still around... was Lord Isshin even aware that it was Wolf who killed them or did he think the Ministry was succeeding in their attacks? which is why Genichiro became frantic, and the sickened Isshin needed to come out as the Tengu once more. Seven Spears, and the Ashina Elite in the Dojo would have been a valuable defence as well but now they are all dead because they stood between Wolf and his Lord, but the Ministry benefited greatly from Wolfs work, he was a loyal vassal and unwitting vanguard.

    • @vexthegreat9167

      Isshin knew everything Sekiro was doing. He knew that he’d defeated the general guarding the gate, as did the elderly lady near him. He sent him to hunt rats as a test.
      Sekiro and Lady Emma only met because Isshin ordered her to care for and help him. Helping him included killing Genichiro if it came to it.
      I don’t think Isshin cared about the fate of Ashina or its people. He won his original victory against the Interior Ministry and that was good enough for him. Had he taken care of it like a proper lord, he would have had a vastly superior number of fully outfitted samurai warriors, not just grunts. And, when his days were at their end, he was fine with seeing it fall.
      Genichiro, on the other hand, was running around trying to find magical solutions rather than trying to make alliances with other clans, equipping his men, fortifying the castle so as to make entry too difficult, or allying himself with Sekiro? He could have rallied the gunners from the Sunken Valley to counter the flamethrowers and gunmen. He saw how Sekiro took down his best generals, so why not stop antagonizing him and get him on your side? He wasn’t the man his grandfather was in that Isshin could spot talent even in foes and bring them on his side. He also didn’t learn from what Tomoe or understand that she wanted the mortal blade for her lord, not to save Ashina. It’s his fault for playing this all wrong.

      @AB shalom To be more specific, I think it's sort of implied that the non-boss armored samurai at the very least all command at least some authority over the ashigaru, even if most of them would technically hold a lower rank than "general" (though I'd say the Seven Ashina Spears would technically be generals too, considering that the final prayer necklace describes them as basically being Ashina's greatest samurai). "General" is just kind of a useful shorthand to denote their apparent role as commanders and to differentiate them from the blue-robed samurai (the same way you refer to the latter as "Ashina Elite", even though that term seems to technically only apply to the mini-bosses with their fancy double-slash Iaijutsu techniques).

He personally kills Gyobu, the Raging Bull, and the Chained Ogre (all who were there to defend the castle gates) then opens the castle gates himself. After that, he then goes on to defeat Genichirou, the leader of Ashina's army. Not to mention he kills off several Ashina Generals and Seven Spears along with hundreds of foot soldiers and Nightjar Ninjas, softening up Ashina castle far more than just losing the manpower of the Hirata clan.

Also the weapon we got stabbed with looks very similar to the ones the lone shadows wield. I think he got the order from Owl to stab us in the first memory when Kuro resurrects sekiro afterwards that adds to the fact the ministry thinks he is a non dying demon. Genichiro was the man for the Job but he was distracted by a side course which itself was not completely bad... Judging the odds and betrayal... He would need true immortality to be able to defend ashina in the same calibre as a mortal ishin...
    Sekiro had a weakness in form of honor, the iron rule and a close 2nd to it... Which defending kuro's interests at all costs is actually the ultimate representation of the iron rule because becoming the retainer of kuro is also an instruction from his father that preceeds other instruction in that dame line his father gave(wether they be for selfish reasons or due to dedication to an external course) including the 1st iron rule...
    Going against kuro's interest would actually be a voilatiin of the iron rule.
    After all being said if kuro had supported genichiro. And ishin had ordered ashina and genichiro to not be hostile towards sekiro, then despite Owl's betrayal of ashina, ashina would have come out victorious against the ministry against all odds and judging by the fact that genichiro has a trick up his sleeve to revive a younger ishin, ashina would have been able to even launch a counter offense against the ministry and destroyed all of the ministry's shadow entities they were using to unite japan and in the end even break the relentlessness of the ministry...

  • @zacharyconfer1828
    @zacharyconfer1828 Год назад

    I disagree about the Lady Butterfly theory completely.
    She taught us most of our shinobi techniques, and from Wolf's heartbroken "why?", And the way he sorrowfully says "Lady Butterfly... Forgive me..." As you execute her (in the exact same way he chooses to execute his father, interestingly), that she functioned as his maternal surrogate. In fact, in the Japanese dialogue, Sekiro actually doesnt call her lady butterfly where it says he does in the subtitles. He says "Ocha..." (Or "Obacca" and im just not hearing the 'ba'), which both mean grandma, with the first being something like granny. They were very close.
    Grandma then says "Why, indeed? You'll die if you doubt yourself, boy." She knew he would be hesitant to attack her, and so she verbally warns him to take her seriously.
    After you overcome her, she calls you impressive before hopping down from an inaccessible location. She could have escaped, and she knew at that point that he was going to kill her.
    As she dies, she says "You've gotten stronger, Wolf..." Up until that point, she called you "Son of Owl", and "boy." She's recognizing your name.
    When you confront her memory, the remnant's last words are "some things can only be learned in the heat of battle."
    She was our teacher! When Hirata Estate was sacked, she must have known only Owl could have been responsible. It was probably Owl who ordered you and all the other warriors to go and support a battle. She knew she was no match for Owl, but her precious student could be. She gave her life to teach us that unteachable final lesson, spoken of in the last words in her remnant.
    I thought this was obvious to everybody! Lady Butterfly wasn't a villain! If she wanted to use illusions on Kuro to get him to make her immortal, she could have. He was already under her spell and had clearly been with her for some time. I thought we all cried together when we read that remnant; I had no idea our grandma was so misunderstood 😭
