    Though I'm a fan of swing arm framed choppers, I've always admired the clean lines of a rigid. You've touched upon all the most important points regarding weld-on rigid tail sections versus full-on aftermarket frames. Thanks, Grease's Garage.

    Grease, there are no Panhead or Knucklehead titled frames, my friend. Pre 1970 Harley bikes were titled off the case. Matching numbers usually refers to the bellies.

    Tc bros and lowbrow have sporty kits and lowbrow has vids on building ironhead and the next gen sporty. Tc bros have kit for rubber mount sportys as well

    Great edumecation and appreciated.
    Found the bike for the project but its so exceptional and built by a local legend, leaving it stock makes sense. Stock forks will be in demand in the distant future.

      I’m actually with you on that. I’ve got stock forks that I put 2” under springs in but I’ve still got the factory ones. Never liked the way the super long front ends handled

    I got my GasBox full frame in about a week. I didn’t customize it but they do have different options. I got the 3” up with sporty tank mounts, stock rear axel. Ran me about 1200 bones. I bought the kit first but got a little bit intimidated by this being my first build so I ended up biting the bullet and buying the full frame after

      That’s awesome! I haven’t seen one of those gas box ones in person yet but I did see them available on lowbrow now with immediate shipping which is very cool. I believe they’re only for sporty right now but hoping they do some big twin ones as well

    Krispy Co. created a good looking weld on hardtail kit for Big Twin Evo. Same price as a full Paughco frame

      I had heard mention of this on a previous post I made but forgot the name. Just gave it a look. I dig the cast plates and seat post area!
      Very cool to see someone finally make a kit but that’s a tricky price point for it when compared against a full frame or modifying a $350 shovel tail.
      But in the end the community will decide. I’m sure plenty of people will go for it

    Subbed. Thanks for breaking it all down. I don’t plan to do any welding. Been on the search for a preowned chopper or possibly building one through some outside help if I find somebody.
    Can’t wait! 😝

    What frame would fit a 96ci twin cam?! Rigid of course!

    I'm afraid that my hardtail days are well behind me, my spine is completely shot, it's shocks all the way for me these days, it doesn't make me grin any less though, when I'm blatting down the road on my chop.

    I bought the Haifley bros kit from throttle addiction. It’s good but not super pumped on the details. Took a lot of work to make it how i believe it should be. Went with a hardtail kit due to registration and title. Reg/title on new frame isn’t that difficult. Lesson learned: should’ve just bought a single down tube frame from Ben Jeff.

      Sorry to hear that man! Is it the quality of the welds or it just not fitting up properly? Always curious to get the scoop from people who have tried it first hand

    • @a_DjVu

      @@greasesgarage welds are fine. I wasn’t happy with the gaps/spacing. Flat trailer fender isn’t my thing. Foam used on seat is trash. My sissy bar wasn’t square and had to finesse it. Personally, didn’t like how the battery mount was set up on the kit and remade that as well. It’s a fine kit and I think it has the best lines, however when it came to the details, it just didn’t deliver. I will say that if you don’t care about details and just want something that’s “plug and play” then the kit is perfect. If I could do it over again I would just get a single down tube frame.

    do special construction titles change the year of the bike, at least legally speaking?

    How does registering get a new title for the new frame work? Do I have to take my bike in for inspection or can I just show the documents?
    I would hate to take my bike in because I have to do all this extra stuff like wire up a horn and turn signals.
    My workaround for when I get my new frame would be run it with a new frame and if I ever want to sell the bike, I’ll sell the stock frame with it so the titles remains the same.

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  6 месяцев назад

      I believe you’d register it the way you would register a new (to you) motorcycle. But if it’s like other vehicles a shop or a cop would probably have to do verification form on it saying the MSO number on the paper and on the frame match, that could be done with just the frame the bike doesn’t need to be built.

    • @chopperguy4711
      @chopperguy4711 6 месяцев назад

      It depends on the state that you live. But you would most likely have to wire a horn or install a front brake etc

    Until you get a back problems you want the hard tail.
