such a great video! love this topic. I'm about to restart 2 tanks shorlty when i find some time, these tanks are total failures eventhough they're set up the same way as all my other tanks. gotta love this hobby can't wait for your next video!
@@ShrimpSanctuary for me it would be a guide to successfully breeding shrimp, with your learnings on the fundamentals, interspersed with relevant anecdotal stories you have. I think it could very much be things you have taught/shared in these videos, but organized and edited into a book.
My caridina do well in 400 tds. I kept them with neocaridina. They were a lot of death initially, but after a while, they got used to it. I don't recommend my method haha. I just a lazy guy who lazy to do water change. No water change equal more algae, which is what most shrimp like to eat.
Thanks for the valuable info as usual. You said, when you do WC you pour RO water with 0 tds then you remineralize. Do I understood correctly ? If yes, then won’t this method do fluctuation in the water parameter ? So shrimps will get stressed ? Correct me if I’m wrong.
you are absolutely right, and nature is intended that way too. Shrimps that are genetically strong will survive and nature intended to weed out the weaker ones. The more we "pamper" our shrimps the weaker they become. This is often seen in competition where the shrimps die even before the contest has started due to different water parameters. The Goal is to ensure strong genetics are passed down. That is the reason direct 0 TDS water is pushed through directly and in a fast speed. Rain do not drip down, the sky opens up. It is important to note we are to strengthen our genetic pool.
@@ShrimpSanctuary I totally agree with this. I breed mostly CRS and have had a line going for about 7 years now. I never pamper them. I do big water changes without even reading the params (at this point I have a good idea of how to mix their change water without thinking about it much). I don't get overly worried about the difference in terms of temps when changing water or moving shrimp to another tank, unless the temp is dramatically different. This is not because I'm lazy or uncaring, it's just that I understand these specific shrimp, that over the years they have grown to be far hardier than the internet might suggest. I have had CRS hitch a ride on a plant into a fish tank that has a super high TDS and still thrive and breed. This is going straight from a TDS of 125 to 350+ and not being affected at all. At this point I'm pretty sure they would thrive in a mud puddle or a toilet. In fact, I have found them living in the muck of my water discharge system where I keep my sump. They were as happy as could be!
Thank you so much for newly info at least for me. Then after pouring the 0 TDS RO water, how I should remineralize or what amount of GH+ salt i have to add. Just trying to understand the equation :) Thanks again for both responses @ShrimpSanctuary @tolstoy21
@@qaisal-khatib9413 I use one level scoop (or just under that) per 5 gallons of RO water. However, I do premix it by putting a powerhead into the bucket for a few minutes.
@@tolstoy21 agree. But what I’m asking for is, adding RO water with 0 TDS directly to the tank then add the GH+. This is the method that @ShrimpSanctuary talked about in the video.
Love the new intro!!
Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words.
If you ever write a book, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
What would you like to see in such a book?

What type of plant pot is inside your tank? Is it terracotta?
Yes
