Watch How Shrimp Interact with Food in their Tank
Hello , currently I am cycling my tank . I just test the water parameter . ph 6 , 0 ammonia , 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate . So is there any wrong with the reading ??
Great video Ben 👏 can we also discuss the role of biofilm for shrimplets in another video? 😁 There’s a lot of conflicting beliefs. We don’t use powder or biofilm foods for shrimplets, because we prefer cleaner environments for water parameter changes, but also a lot of conflicting information here too 😎
Do you make your own Kallex or Labao balls? If you buy them which ones do you buy?
Hand made.
Recently we had a female molt and leave her eggs inside of it, Kept them separate to the tank and used a airline to keep the oxygen and them moving, Few days later 20 plus baby's of snowflakes all grown up now looking fantastic. Great vidoe Bene this will help people 👍
@@TheshrimpfactoryUK appreciate the kind words.
I've always liked your videos. I really like, on this one, how you've added the extra details regarding ph, gh and soil when viewing your different tanks.
@@danscotland5786 thanks. I'll need to keep that in mind.
thanks for the video bend needed this
cheers
I see you also have those Orange Eye Ghost Bee? Not sure what you call them?
shrimp?
I crossed PRL vs red fancy tiger ! But shrimplets looks ugly 😢
keep trying
Be patient, if you cross any shrimps variant, the first stage of their offsprings, mostly not have good looking of appearance. If you don't want the risk, we suggest keep focus on one strain
Ive had advice to keep my OERBT in high GH compared to my crystal/bee shrimp. Have you heard that before?
I think personally the caridina species will do ok in a wide range of GH, between 2-6 even 7/8 for some breeders i know. There are breeders who does OBRBT/tiger genes in Neo parameters and they do well also. i think more critically is the pH. Too low pH for OEBT isn't great for breeding and a slightly higher pH will be ok around 6 and above. Crystals will tolerate higher pH but prefers a slightly more acidic water parameters. Hope that helps.
yeah for sure! My OEBT seem to be doing better in higher GH but maybe thats because I also raised the PH by increasing GH. I very rarely test for PH bc its such a pain, usually im just checking TDS. ( have ADA aqua soil to lower my ph)
Are those stainless steel baskets with extra media in them,?? Where did you buy them please?
yes they're SS basket, and i add soil instead of media, because we are going to try the next thing. but yes you can also add media if you like so everything is kept above line, and that we can continue to have a full view of the shrimps
@@ShrimpSanctuary I meant buffering soil instead of media, sorry. Where did you get them please?
@@aaronarmstrongaaI'm based in Singapore not sure if you be able to get it unless I help ship

Hi Benedict. Where can hobbyist sell their excess shrimp in Singapore? Do we need a AVA and Pet Shop license?😅 Can we sell from our home?
@@striving.catholic will need a pet shop license to retail in Singapore.
@@ShrimpSanctuary thank you boss! 😆
There were a lot of breeders during c-vid selling culls from boa's for top dollar prices because they had a chance at carrying the genes .... I may have fallen into supporting some of those breeders as an uninformed new to shrimp keeper at the time.... live and learn. Thanks for being honest and sharing 😊
some people have been modifying their sponge filters with airstones, is there a way you could make a tutorial on something like this? alot of people are saying that they work better
Yes for the old co-op filter, we do also put the air stone in there, however now with the uplift version, the input of the air socket is different and doesn't require the air stone. It helps save a lot of cost because if we run more than 100+ tanks it can add up. so no more modification is required for the new Co-Op Sponge filter.
Great video! Really enjoyed the information, genetic responsibility is important with breeding. It is disappointing to know that so many owners are greedy, as it devalues the hobby for their own customers. I understand people have to put food on the table, but that can be done with responsibility in mind, still.
How did you manage to get their stuff? Been trying to find them locally
@@jeremywong3741 if you are looking for co-op products it's be listed on carousels too.
Hi Bene, I am thinking of buying a Fujimac airpump. Not sure which one to take. How much airvolume does one spongefilter need? I have fifteen tanks. I was thinking about the Fujimac 40.
The smallest one is ok. The 40 can run 150 outlets easy. 15 tanks the 40 will run very very well.
@@ShrimpSanctuary thx Bene. Have a nice weekend 👍
What about shrimp baby? Isn’t the hole too big?
@@pepscotty they are fine. Even they are small and can go in and out of it. In nature they don't get to choose and are expose to even more elements that will harm them.
My lokal fish store sell blue dream 6 for $20
This is what happens when people that are selling are greedy. There i said it. It’s because of greed. Most people that call shrimps the wrong kind(usually the more expensive kind) are not doing it because they don’t know any better. They do it because they want more money for the shrimp. These people need to be called out so no one will do business with them again
Good job with this video
Hey Bene this is a GREAT TOPIC! I see the your getting more share with this video, people in the hobby really love seeing shrimp! It's like going to a candy store 🍬🍭😋✌🏿
Yeah tons of culls being sold as high end shrimp. These shrimp brokers be writing up one hell of an essay when they describing how awesome their culls will make your breeding project. It’s better than buying high end flashy shrimps that will degrade your genepool
This problem is very old, and still some people continue to do it, without understanding how it must work, for example, i buying lots of shrimp from Benibachi farm Japan, then sell them immediately, then that's is Benibachi shrimps, but if i breed them and selling the next generation, i have history from Benibachi, but that's not Benibachi shrimps, maybe cleeon line or anything i named it. Why? Because for same species, crystal red shrimp, and same bariant, pure red line, breeder have different standard, different patterns goal and different method to get their "high standard" Of any pets/animal they're breed within their farm
Do you still buy from Benibachi? I am interested
@@boblafrin8320 hmm... No and never, I'm not buy directly from them, buy i buy from trusted seller here, he buy directly from many Japanese farm/breeder, but i do not know is he still active buying from Japan. His company/shop name is Zoomart
Good subject as it’s always been a problem in the hobby . One of the biggest issues at moment is the amount of people calling a shrimp a boa when it’s clearly not . Be good in the future if there was a shrimp type dictionary explaining each type of shrimp
Great video. I think we have all been through this at some point. What is encouraging is that we are starting to see high quality come through at reasonable prices. Some of The Thai and Vietnam breeders who are exporting are definitely changing the game. Challenging some of the older Gate keepers of the trade, who were charging whatever they wanted based on a "Name" or "Lineage"
Nice video 👍🏾

Love your videos... new subscriber here, i've just started cycling my tank, it only has a thin layer of soil at the moment. But i noticed that i have green hair algae on top of the normal green dust. Should i be concern, any advice bro? Will shrimp eventually eat the GHA, or must i add certain fish or manually remove?
@@mervylau26 normally hair algae in a shrimp tank is pointing towards high PO4 levels. Manual removal, black out, ramshorn snail will help in about 2 weeks. Shrimp doesn't eat hair algae.
@@ShrimpSanctuary thank you

@@michaelmendez6308 thanks for the kind words. Keeps us busy. 😁for the right reasons.
Looking forward to the water change system video!
Sure! thanks !
what is the stainless cylinder in each of the tanks? Is that a carbon filter that the water passes threw on water changes? Great setup!!!!
All water passes through a carbon filtration before hitting the stainless steel cylinders in each tanks. those are the 10 bar float valve as we channel water directly with high pressure hence a 10 bar float valve will act as a safe guard measure from overflow even if the pressure is high. Appreciate the kind words.
Great setup. What happens to your water that you take out of tanks on water change? With that many tanks it would be a shame if all that water is going down drain . If this is case then in future I’d look at a way of reusing that used water for something. I use mine at home to water garden but that’s for only few tanks
Was thinking of discharging to a pond or to flush the toilet. Our AC water output is more than the water change done weekly, that's how much the AC pulls out humidity from the air during cooling.
Love this video ❤
Thanks for the video! Not surprising to see how thoroughly you've prepared. We just had a hurricane here in Houston and the power is still out for many--outages are probably something that will increase with climate change. It is smart to get prepared. For my own simple setup, I'm just focused on maintaining aeration and lighting. I use the Aquarium Coop battery airpumps and a power supply to keep them charged. You can just start with one thing and keep improving your backup plan and equipment over time.
Yup that is right, i also have a few Aquarium coop battery airpumps for home setup on standby always.
