Great video, great food, great people! I mostly only feed Shrimp Envy Foods! Nice to finally get to see their new house and setup for shimp and food processing!
I use shrimp envy foods. Any fish in my shrimp tanks will also eat it...if you want to see your kuhlie loaches just drop a piece in there and they appear quickly.
Hey Bene, I notice a lot of Shrimp Envy's food is made of larger pellets. You've mentioned in another video that you designed your own food to come in smaller pellets that individual shrimp can carry away, which is theorized to avoid food competition and any harm that may come from it. Would you recommend breaking up Shrimp Envy food into smaller pieces to avoid food competition?
Hello ShrimplyExplained! We do recommend that the pellets be broken into smaller sizes for the colony and dropped in various locations. While the shrimp "pyramids" look cool, you bring up the very valid point that shrimp can hurt each other competing for food and that is not good for them at all! We have considered making smaller pellet sizes but in the end we also have people who have said they prefer it the way it is and prefer to break it up themselves based on their colony sizes so we have left it alone for the time being. Things are always subject to change based on the feedback we get from customers so we encourage everyone to let us know what feeling are when it comes to making improvements! yes you should be breaking up all shrimp foods to appropriate size for your colony to avoid nitrates and spread multiple smaller pieces for larger colonies to avoid competition.
@@starkindle13 Thanks, Ree! Have you and Rob actually seen injuries or negative effects happen from aggression at feeding time? I've read about it in research with aquacultured shrimp but haven't seen any noticeable effects in my tanks.
