    I really like the environmentally friendly packaging! I do want to add that if someone is using breather bags it's not advisable to put a heat pack in the box because they consume oxygen to work, so if you live in a cold enough area that it is necessary either use normal bags or figure out a way to isolate the breather bag from the heat pack oxygen-wise, without totally blocking the heat.

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  6 месяцев назад +2

      Truth be told, here in the UK we never once felt it was cold enough for a heat pack, and we never lost a shipment to cold weather. However, we always shipped Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm, so they were only ever exposed to cold temperatures for a few hours.

    Just want to say that I've watched many videos while trying to learn how to take care of neocardinia shrimp. I've recently set up a tank that has 1 African dwarf frog, 3 Oto catfish, 2 Cory albino catfish (which don't seem to bother my shrimp, being all 3 species) I am however looking to breed my shrimp. Any suggestions would be wonderful, as I'm new to this and also would just like to say that many have tried to describe to me what sex I have, what to feed, what to put in the tank and what to look for when breeding. Every other you tuber has been unsuccessful COMPARED to you as far as description on what to look for. I have yet to understand swimmerets or a saddle or the structures of male and female. Now, maybe I'm a dummy but you made it so very easy for me to understand what exactly I'm looking at and I thank you so much for breaking it down for a beginner like myself. You made it super easy to follow and I truly appreciate that. Please keep making videos and let me know what I can do besides subscribing to your channel to see more of your videos. Hi. So to cut a long story short, I would put about 100 adults into a breeding tank/tub and leave them for around 3 months. After which time there would typically be 500 to 800 to sell, plus around 100 to start the next breeding colony.
      Obviously that’s a short version, but hopefully you get the gist 👍🏻

    Really curious how you handle the breeding logistics. Do you split up males and females? Do you have separate growout tanks? Do you just colony breed?
    Greetings from the other side of the pond!

    • @FishKeepingAnswers

      Hi! So this is a subject I intend to discuss in Part 3. However, I essentially colony breed, and once a colony reaches a decent size (usually 600 to 800 shrimp), I remove the best looking 100 or so, and place them in a new tub before selling all the remaing shrimp.

    I’m curious about what sort of permits one needs when shipping livestock, internationally or locally. I know that one vendor I use has a printer card in the box that they can legally ship certain plants to my state. Do some countries not permit live shipping?

    • @FishKeepingAnswers

      So I can only speak about here in the UK. We can ship any non venomous creatures through Royal Mail, providing they are invertebrates. You can’t ship fish through Royal Mail however there are one or two companies that will ship live fish. No permits are required for either.

    Ugh… hearing about the food regulation is such a hard one for me. I have a bladder snail infestation in my tank, which isn’t terrible because they’re great for the algae, they eat better than my mystery, nerite, and Japanese trapdoor snails. But they reproduce so quickly. I feed many to our turtle but I get rid of 10 and 20 more hatch the next day. With that said- I feel nervous that the shrimp are not getting all the food they need- especially the babies. And I can’t just feed in one spot because the snails get there first. All the food gets eaten quickly thankfully, but by the snails. I can’t tell if I’m doing too much or too little. The algae tells me I’m doing too much. But I’m not sure.
