Sir, informative. However, if IT raids are approved after such a scrutiny by higher officials, why are these raids have not lead to any punishments -ideally, your raids must have lead to 100% punishments - most of the cases have not seen the day light even after decades after raids. I guess only small offenders that do not have political influence have been charged. Big fish always go unscathed - that is the unfortunate truth
Vanakkam mdm. A raid is normally an exercise to unearth unaccounted income. It may not be possible to prove or establish the amounts as unaccounted. That is the problem in the whole issue. Regards - bk

I don't intend to argue - however, your response is confusing or self defeating as you have put it - firstly you tell you have all the intelligence to substantiate the presence of unaccounted money before proceeding with the raid - but you seem to have no powers to charge them after the raid - either I am missing some key point here or your gathering of intelligence about the unaccounted money and the approval process of vetting the intelligence needs improvement.
@@girra1968 vanakkam mdm. Nothing wrong in arguing. The point is that raid is done by team of investigation; Assessment is done by another. There are too many provisions in the ITAct that are too ambiguous. It is so all over the world. Bcos, all said and done, it is a hard earned money of the tax payer (we must admit this - whether its true or not) So the Act is so lenient. Enforcement agencies all over the world have to face this prob. Cant help it. Regards - bk

You r also 'bound by' set of ambiguous IT rules [as you said to mdm here] of the Act most of amendments are passed "in the absense of opposition". My only question is "not only big fish go unscathed but" also most road side Traders also. is it not sir? I can show some [as of now] who are well placed in society mixed.
