OMC Javelin Fish and Ski - made in Tullahoma Tennessee. Edit: I had the Javelin 396F/S (19.5 feet) with an Evinrude 200XP V6, would run about 65mph. I would replace the power pack, coils, timer base, spark plugs, plug wires, and voltage regulator (tachometer gets signal from the voltage regulator). Remove the VRO unit and premix in the tank, (instructions are online). Then clean the carbs. Look up the Link and Sync procedure to tune the carbs and timing. If it has decent compression then it'll run great. Check the transom and lower floor (where the driver seat is) for wood rot.
Thank for this comment and info! That’s very fast and way faster than I was thinking! I still have the boat and based on the feedback I have been getting I think I am going to try and get it fixed and make a video of it as I go. It would be so cool to end the video with the boat running on the water. But I am going to have to give the hull a good inspection to see exactly how good or bad it is, as well as educating myself on what to look for and how to fix it. I may contact you along the way if I have any questions, if that’s ok with you.
Nice find! It's SOOOO tempting to want to fix it up. Personally, it's exactly the style I would want but then again, it's a boat! ..... .......You know, Bust-Out-Another-Thousand!
Thank you sir! I believe it will run to!! Very excited to try, I am planning on making another video going through the engine and getting her to run as soon as I get back from an upcoming work trip. I’ve gotten some other crazy stuff for free on marketplace and Craigslist in the past too, so I’m going to start recording those for some upcoming videos as well.
My dad owns the exact same boat. Javelin is owned by OMC. They came with a factory OMC trolling motor. They didn't come with a MInn Kota. That's been added. It's a Javelin 18' F&S. Fish and ski. My dad's has a 150XP and it will run about 55. So with a 120 I'd say 45 or so. You put it in forward then tried to start it. It's not going to turn over like that. You actually have to grab the entire thing from the inside of the boat and THEN push it forward. All you did was put it in forward. It's not going to start anyway, the gas in that thing is probably over a decade old.
She's a Beaut! Without a Doubt! 👍 Exactly the kind of boat I'd go for as a matter of fact.. I was as anxious as you were there @Biker Mike Motors to get that engine going, but I for one can completely understand the 'Project Overload' Hypothetically if I was gonna go for a boat like that at auction, all I would need is The Boat (naturally), On a clean and moveable trailer (with a title for A) the Boat, and 2) the trailer).. Then just a engine that Does Indeed, Turn Over. Keep it Simple & Easy,.. Take it one step at a time!
It almost did but after seeing some of the comments on the video I decided to keep it for the meantime. I am really considering trying to get it fixed up and possibly on the water again if i can get it sea worthy, and making a part two for it.
I have an 89 Stratos fish and ski with a 200 Johnson engine. My boat has the same exact OMC throttle and ignition system. When you opened the throttle you put it into gear and that is why it wouldn't crank, in order to give it throttle while remaining in neutral you have to pull outward on the entire lever and then push the lever forward. This will allow you to throttle up while remaining in neutral, once you bring it back to the home position it is spring loaded and will rest back down into place, then you can engage it forward into gear and roll on down the lake. (Assuming you got it started)... Johnson and Evinrudes are basically the same engines, they are both part of the same company. Well were when they were in business anyway.... but yea just thought I'd let you know that about the throttle hope it helps because it took me awhile to learn that when I first bought my boat. Lol
I do still have it! I haven’t come up with any ideas for a future video yet though, feel free to leave any so I can try to incorporate them into the next one!
@@bikermikemotors1 video: redo the interior, giver a polish, lots of B roll after it’s all cleaned up… 2nd video: take it out onto the water more B roll then maybe raffle it off, a way to get some more subscribers and views
Those are some nice trees ya got with the boat lol nice free boat I'd be real surprised if it crank I would take plugs out pour some marvel mystery oil in it check compression new fuel filter plugs maybe wires anything else thts looking bad those are really good engines they run strong running that boat will do probably around 55mph+ javelins were a top boat back then good luck z
Hey I appreciate you watching! And I was and am very excited for the boat, I’m sorry it came across as moaning or that I wasn’t excited. I was just stating that it would need a lot of work to be water worthy.
New sub, just came across your channel. Still have this? Just glanced through your vids and didn't see another on it. I've been watching another channel named Tightline that has been rehabbing a boat very similar to this.
I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the video! I won’t leave them to someone else because i am not a quitter plus I enjoy making them but I am open to suggestions on what I could do better. Please give me some slack as I am relatively new at this but always trying to be better.
Funny you say that because I’ve had a bunch of emails, messages and comments saying how much they enjoyed this video and hardly any negative feedback except for this comment. I know I can make them better but it was my first video of this format; instead of leaving a rude vague comment, why don’t you suggest something you think I could do better? I appreciate those comments and am always trying to get better. Please explain what makes you think I don’t know what I’m doing and what problems am I making more of on this boat that had been sitting outside for a long period of time???
This was my first attempt at this type of video, but I’m sorry you feel that way. Instead of just leaving a vague negative comment, I would really appreciate some input on what you think I could have done to make it better. I’m always open to constructive criticism and always trying to be better. Either way thank you for watching!

@@shannonfrauenhoffer6276 Thank you for the input, I appreciate that! I’ll do better in the future on time lapses, I was thinking to add some background music too. I do still have the boat, i will put together an update video for it in the future.

I love the style. Great little boat.
Don’t turn the key on about oard unless you have some ear muffs with water running through that engine. You will burn it up fast
I just bought the same boat. 1988 Stratos 266FS. It’s the fish and ski. Mine only has a 90hp evinrude though.

I would fix it it's worth it and resell it u can make a good profit alot of people prefer a runabout boat with walk threw wind shield
Damn that boat is nice!
8:45 When the mower pulled up I looked to my right out the window to see who was here LOL.
Hahahaha love this comment! I do the same 😂😂
If you're going to keep it an try to run it delete the oil induction just mix your own gas
Where are your safety glasses ???
Where are you located..I’m interested in the boat
Tree looks healthy.
😂😂😂
Died never that is a nice boat 🎉
Fix the motor and then take it to auction.
So what happened with this boat?
you can not crank a boat motor giving it in forward on lest you engage the center button .
Just climb in and see if the deck if soft, If it is junk the boat and sell the outboard

What's the Title process for that
Take a small gas tank with mixed fuel
Keep it
