It's refreshing to see a young person doing this. I enjoy watching and learning.
i agree with you, his attention to detail is amazing
I thought the "secret" of chopping model A posts is to beat everything in with a claw hammer, mig weld it, grind it till the metal turns blue and resculpt the profile out of bondo. Your methods produce a much better result! Excellent job!
I wonder if it would be easier to cut that pivot section out and splice it in further up to save some welding and riviting? With some creative measuring you could almost cut a larger section of inner post out from each side, and flip them side for side....not sure if that makes sense, I've got a '30 that will eventually get chopped so I'm just thinking out loud haha. Keep up the great work!
Lmaooo! Someone else messaged me about doing it that way. I’d have to think it out further
Says the man who sews his clothes together with zip-ties, duct tape, bondo and two cats, who carefully guided him every step of the way.
Kidding, I LOVED that episode.
Nice clean chop. You forgot to mention @Halfass Kustoms another great Hot Rod channel from Canadia. Cheers!
Ooh yeah I’ll add him in the list!
A chop is all about detail! The more detail the better the chop. Your doing a great, clean, detailed job. Keep it up and you'll have one Kickass rod!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Fantastic detail and an amazing finished job. Love watching metalwork mastery like this and looking forward to seeing the other details of the chop as it’s finished. Keep up that awesome content and the channel will just keep growing.
Fun watching you and your detailed explanation of each step 👍
Can't wait to see what you do with the garnish moldings.
Keep up the great work 👍
Very Very Helpful!!
Clearly explained and showed the process.
Finally, I was able to install my swing arm studs.
Thanks & Cheers
I’m glad I could help!
Very nice job on the alignment. Most people don't realize how much taper is on every part of a Model A.
Love the channel and a huge Model A Fan. Have offered this advice in the past. No need to pre talk about the process, then show the process, then talk about the result. talking about the process while working on things will make your channel more watchable. You do a good job and, Yes, Chris Birdsong is a great example. Keep up the cool videos
This is the type of work I like to do. Need to browse your channel to see if you have posted more tig welding gap tutorials, I suck at it.
Its like that Breaking the Magician's Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed show from the late 90s
They will hate me for it hahaha
Found your channel few months ago love how you involve the viewer and also are family man
Could see and follow everything, what a neat job! Thank you it was fun to watch too!
Awesome 👍 Hot Rods build guys,....I appreciate all your Tips and video's keep up the great work and Builds guys 😎🤙
Very interesting, yeah man I like to see more your fabrication come’s out real good , thank you for sharing again God bless you.
Anyone who said you chop a Model A in one day never tended to the details like this. Super nice job! A tiny bit of body filler and it’s beautiful!
Thanks John, yeah one day chops are usually not that great lol
Great work! You’re now part of my trio of hot Rodder I now watch regularly. Make it Kustom, and Bennett Customs.
Right on! Thanks for finding me!
This is a great video really shows the details of the chop.
Not really, he cut the front posts in the wrong area then he had to move the pins, he did it the hard way.
Well done, I learn a lot from your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice work. Very detailed. 👍👍👍
ALWAYS interested in the details!!! Thanks for educating and entertaining us!!! ;o) Very nice work !!! 👍👍👍🛠⚙️🔩🗜
You’re welcome! I’ll keep on doing the thing!
Great job looks Awesome.
I'm getting ready to chop my model a and this most helpful video I've found so far. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Awesome video. As someone who has been into muscle cars for the last 30 years & only now getting the hot rod itch these detailed videos are great! Lighting was good btw
Your good my friend ! awesome job . Keep them videos coming .
TY for the upload. Looking good.
Thank you for sharing your videos, great job!
A quality job for sure!
Top Notch video, You make it look so easy, love your work.!!!!
Very helpful thanks
Nice work my friend!
hawk eye for detail ...great job..
Thanks James
Yes, this will be very helpful. Good stuff, keep it going! Thanks.
Hey Travis, of course the title of your video captured my attention, but when you mentioned that you were going to weld the parts of the A pillar that did line up I knew what you were going to do, the way you did it is the only correct way to do it. I like your thumb switch instead of a foot pedal, I wanted one, at the time I couldn't find one to fit my Tig machine. Great job!! Be safe, God Bless!!!
Thanks brother! Get yourself a finger switch for the awkward places!
Nice work, dude!
Great work .Good video . Nice car .
Great job.
Nice work👍
The garnish molding is the next part to show what is done.
I’m bad tempted to chop my 29 Tudor if it wasn’t for the known Swiss Cheese rear rust that has surprisingly lasted this long.
FOOTAGE LOOKS FINE TO ME TRAVIS, DEFINITEY MO-BETTA DETAIL :)
Great job
Very interesting watching you work. You dont spend 20 minutes telling us WHAT you're gonna do, repeating yourself over and over, then 2 seconds later coming back and saying "Ok, I did all that now here's what I'm gonna do next"
Instead you tell us what you're about to do, then you SHOW us how you do it, pausing with plenty of details along the way. Thank for doing that.... Makes it MUCH easier to learn than just HEARING about how you did something. TWO THUMBS UP!
Now about that "lead sled" parked outside just waiting to be finished so you can give it away... LOL
Thanks a lot! I’m trying to do it a little different. The sleds should be up after my coupe is running. Still back burner to my customers but it’ll be in the garage! I can’t wait to chop that thing!
Looks great!
Awesome job, thanks for the in depth video.
Waiting for your lead lesson!!👍👍
I've got a 30 couple that was chopped in the 50s. They cut the center piece with the pivot completely out. I don't have the windshield frame either. Going to be studying on it this winter to figure out what to do
Should be easy enough as long as you get your hands on a pivot, should be able to get them through the usual suspects
@@RACGARAGE I picked up another cowl that has them. Looking for replacement roof panels too, it laid on it's roof for years.
Good stuff man good stuff!
Awesome job I'm fixing to chop a 31 coupe do you have the rest of the chopping video? How much did u chop it
I learned something new today thank you 🤘🏽
pretty interesting stuff man. never fear... your subs will go up!
i look forward to seeing ya do leading.
Can’t wait to lead!
Awesome job.. Love your videos.. How much to chop my 1930 5 window 3 inches ??
Yes helpful
Excellent video Travis you definitely made it look mo better
Haha
I can't help thinking "Welcome To Jimbo's Garage" every time that music is played. Anyone else?
Nice!
I chopped mine in the middle and didn't have any issues.
Great video!! Was wondering how u relocate that pivot/stud … 🤙🏻
If he had made the cut above the pin he wouldn't have had to relocate it, this wasn't the correct way of doing things. If you decide to chop yours make your cut above the pin not below it then after you chop your windshield at the top everything will line up perfectly.
awesome video travis !
Hey great tips. So do you start like an inch or so from the bottom of the pillar?
yeah fairly low on the pillar. easier to blend.
Great video. Thanks for sharing that. If you don't mind me asking what tools did you use to metal finish the a pillars?
As of right now it was just sandpaper on an air powered angle grinder and an orbital sander

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?
Do I chop my 47 Ford pickup? I want to do a 60’s style rod back in the day
Where did you get those movable magnetic work lights? It seems like no matter how many lights I have in my garage, they're never in the right spot.
What was removed from posts.3 inches?
How much did you chop the top??
Nice work how many inches did chop it
Thanks! 4”
@@RACGARAGE ok thanks
👍🏻
Where is your shop located……."
What welder do you use tho??
AHP tig 200x
😁👍
Why not just cut above the hinge and just drop the top? Then you don't have to mess with the middle at all.
He made the cut in the wrong spot, he should have cut it above the pin not below it, it's actually a F up. If you're gonna chop your A don't do it this way, remember above the pin and chop the windshield at the top and everything will line up perfectly.
Not a fuck up if I intended to do it. There’s more than just your way to do something. I’ll look into that method though seems like a good way
@@RACGARAGE - Simply cut it above the pin, there's absolutely no reason to do all that extra work, you'll find it's much easier and faster friend. Sorry about the fuck up thing.
@@dickdomain719 no worries man just be a little nicer next time haha I’ll try out that method next time and see how it works
Do ever sale your cars you create
Most times I do
That’s the exact same I would have done it, back in my day…..That is if I had the patience to do so!!! Now, with that being said, I’m not saying that you are better than I was…..I’m just saying that I wasn’t as good as you are now!!!!! I have to watch to NOT brag on you!!! 🤔 🤫 🤭
Haha we have to stay humble
They weren’t in the middle anyways just saying. They are offset torwards the bottom
Am I the only one who realizes it won’t fit the trim and the bracket will be too close to roof and the windshield won’t fit now Bc it’s too tight when he pulled inside out to match bottom. I built a 29 fordor. And I realized it’s not gonna fit without a huge ass ache.
I like how fussy you are!
Hahaha yeah I kindof am
