Tobacco Road Live. Extremely talented brothers.
Definitely this!
Wait till you hear his vocals on ‘Tobacco Road’, you wont believe what you’re hearing - and his brother Johnny Winter plays on that live performance if you get the right one . . . Johnny Winter was a prodigy on guitar. And the guitar player here, on ‘Frankenstein’ is Rick Derringer from ‘Hang On Sloppy’ fame and who wrote the classic ‘Rock & Roll Hoochie Coo’.
Yes Tobacco will blow you away ✌😎 (🎙🎷🎹 )
For another great Tobacco Road cover check Out...........
Eric Burdon & War - Tobacco Road live !
They also do .......
Spill The Wine
( Both are well worth a look )
Johnny sings on Tobacco Road. Edgar plays guitar
It's Edgar singing, keyboard & Sax ! Not a big fan and never really followed them... abit before my time but like I said I'm pretty sure it's Edgar from the info that I looked up ! .....also everyone posted said it was Edgar ! Hey man the song is wicked that's the main thing.... like I said on my post Eric Burdon & War also do a great job with their cover of Tobacco Road ✌😎
@@bigbow62 thanks. I always get them mixed up. They both play so many damn instruments 😃
CRAP I gotta go to the store...When I get back, Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo...Thanks for bringin that back to me...
If you haven't seen "Tobacco Road" with his brother Johnny trust me on this...you must!
Yes I say it's a favorite of mine
💯 x 💯 !!
Tobacco Road live for incredible blues vocals from Johnny and Edgar Winters!
Check out "Free Ride". The guitarist is Rick Derringer, who went on to solo success with "Rock, and Roll Hoochie Koo".
The guitarist in this video is Rick Derringer but it was Ronnie Montrose who played the original Free Ride and Frankenstein
Rick DERRINGER of the MCCOYS / HANG ON SLOOPY SONG
Yes to Free Ride
Both great songs!
him and his brother are unbelievably talented
I’d never heard of these guys before & omg, they’re wicked! I couldn’t stop moving to that beat. What do you all reckon I should listen to next as a newbie to this band? Cheers ✌️🇦🇺🙃
@@kerryn6714 Tobacco Road and freeride.. This was my era of music 60s/70s. No wonder as teens we didn't come out of our bedrooms much. Loll too busy playing our amazing record collection and listebi g to this on radio. .
MargaretAnn Stewart
Thanks MargaretAnn! I checked out Tobacco Road & wow! It’s sure is different to the version I was thinking of! I was born in ‘67 so my teen years were the early ‘80’s-MJ, Prince, Queen, INXS, George Michael etc but in my formative years of 3-12 years old I was a child of the 70’s.
My favourite music is in those two decades & I still listen to that music everyday. Thanks so much for your recommendations, I truly appreciate it. Cheers ✌️
These guys were just amazing!
Love Edgar Winters band!
When I hear this, I always picture Frankenstein walking around. Now you have to react to Edgar's extremely talented brother, blues guitarist Johnny Winter.
His Brother is awesome to Johnny Winters. This song came out right in time for quadraphonic sound I put it in my ride and with my bad ass 8 track I jammed to a whole new experience in those times. Life was great.
Oh this song is freaking epic.
The whole album, They Only Come Out at Night, started blowing my mind in about 1974 when I was in jr. high. Need to check out Free Ride, also off of the same album. Also check out Dan Hartman, the bass player, had a few solo hits in the '80s such as I Can Dream About You. Great reacts as usual Jay!!
One of the best touring bands ever. I was lucky enough to see them play it live.
Rick Derringer on Guitar - Dan Hartman on Bass - Chuck Ruff on Drums and of course Edgar Winter on Keys, Sax and Drums ! LEGENDARY musicians and we are so lucky to have this amazing music in our lifetime.
My first thought was "he's gonna like this one"!
This was so freaking crazy when this came out in 1973, or 74, I can't remember the exact year.
My kids (4) ages 48, 46 ,43 and 42) heard this particular song 100's of times. It still my fav go to song. Crank it up!
I've seen several live versions of this and no two are alike but each is incredible and all are better than the recorded version. This band was tight!!
I love the recording though especially how it breaks from synth to the sax line
I second the request for the live version of 'Tobacco Road' with his brother Johnny! Edgar can sing too!
All 4 are extremely accomplished musicians. Rick Derringer (guitar) had a long, successful solo career, and Dan Hartman (Bass) not only wrote several hits for Edgar Winter, he also had a successful solo career.
Legend has it that Johnny and Edgar, because they are albinos, never went outside as kids. All they did was practice their instruments. Check out both brothers on Tobacco Road. They are impressive.
Hey Jayvee, glad you like it. Next try out Tobacco Road (Live) where he's jamming with his brother Johnny. It's an absolutely fabulous song where you'll get to hear Edgar singing. Unbelievable! Cheers, Steve
Edgar Winter is literally just like the mad scientist Frankenstein on all of those instrumentals!
This was the best live version of this great rock in’ tune!
Live is definitely a treat! But you gotta hear the studio version.
It was several different piece's of music, they decided to put them together, hence the name "FRANKENSTEIN"
Love your reaction- wow! wow! wow!
One of the most kickass rock instrumentals of all time!
Labels are difficult, but this sounds more like fusion than rock&roll to me.
@@herrbonk3635 this is fusion with more rock and roll leanings
@@JeffPenaify Perhaps, but did they call it fusion themselves? Weather Report (one of my early 80s favorites) were often labeled "fusion" or even "rock-jazz". However, Jaco Pastorius used to say that he hated rock-jazz (at least according to Pat Metheny) and Josef Zawinul once told Down Beat he never understood what fusion meant.
So I would say, labels are kind of complicated.
No two versions of the song were the same - glad you finally got to ‘em!
I saw him and Johnny, his brother play this live in the 70's ! It was so loud it blew your hair and vibrated your whole body! Fantastic!!
I enjoyed this and it looked like all the musicians were having a great time as well.
One of the first to experiment with sound and tone with those huge analog amps. My mom's favorite song
This was a huge hit back in the day, one of the few instramentals hi in the charts.
So excited when I saw you were going to react to this song! 🙌🏻
I saw Edgar perform live at Dragon Con here in Atlanta several years ago. Small venue with an audience of maybe 1500 people. It was amazing!
I remember dancing to this...
Try their live performance of Tobacco Road. It is incredibly AND he brings kick-ass vocals along with his usual instrumental wizardry.
Rick Derringer on guitar. Awesome player who had a great solo career.
I am in total agreement with everyone else you need to definitely check out Tobacco Road with Edgar and his brother Johnny you won't regret it
There was not a College dorm in America that not blasting this in 1973 down the hallway. This brings back. Great memories for me.
This is what talent looks and sounds like, two things thing totally lacking in 95% of today's popular music.
The "Midnight Special" program version of this tune was what defined to me what Rock'n'Roll was and is when I saw it as a kid in the 70's !!
Greatest Song of the early '70's !
Check out his brother Johny he's one of the best blues guitarist ever!
In the longer version Edgar starts off on the synthesizer, then plays the sax, followed by the drums, then he changes the brake linings on a '69 Ford Mustang and finally performs a quadruple bypass on a 65 yr. old man. The blips on the heart ❤️ monitor are in synch to the drum beats.
Johnny and Edgar are supreme artists
Tobacco Road he has some of the sickest vocals you will ever hear. And his bother Johnny Winters joins him on guitar. Amazing performance.
❤ CLASSIC! ❤ Jovaugh, you need to hear the studio recording of this!
Strap in and enjoy the ride.
So let's take stock: Edgar plays the keyboard, saxophone, drums, he starts fiddling around with the equalizer to make his keyboard a percussion instrument, somehow turns the thing into a synthesizer... I think I heard my dog's chew toy in toward the middle there... Some good stuff in there, and as always, excellent reaction!
Tobacco Road with Johnny and Edgar is a real treat!!
I saw this guy for the first time about 10 years ago, he blew my mind, I was an instant fan.
Just when you think it's over lol... One of my favorite songs of theirs
I have always loved these two ❤️❤️❤️
Iconic performance.....brilliant.
He is a fantastic blues singer also. Check out "tobacco road live" by Edgar Winter and his brother Johnny Winter. One of the best blues singer you will ever hear. Blow your mind good. ☮️
I can’t get enough of that drum solo.
Hell yeah strap in and get ready to rock out. Crank it up. Enjoy. This is gonna be priceless
Rick Derringer on guitar, Rick Hartman on bass, Jeff Ruff on drums and Edgar Winter on everything else.
I saw them live do this. Bronx NYC. They opened for 10 years after.
Damn it's great to see a reactor get this pumped for a song. Thx dude
Imagine having that much talent!
Rick Derrenger was the guitarist and it was this band that did Rock and Roll Hootchicoo. And Derringer did Hang on Sloopy in the 60's.
Edgar also plays guitar and perhaps other instruments in addition to the sax, keyboard and drums. His brother the same.
'Tobacco Road', live, brother.
I called it. I said it out loud as soon as I heard the music choice. "They're gonna WRECK you."
If you like this wait till you hear Edgar sing.
Edgar and Johnny Winter Tobacco Road live this one will blow you away
✌😎
Interviewer: Edgar, how many different instruments do you play?
Edgar: Yes. All of them
Edgar and his strap on the keyboard invention Keytar .... FREE RIDE is great song by them
Edgar Winter Keyboards, Rick Derringer on Lead guitar. Listen to "Tabaco Road" with brothers Edgar and Johnny Winter. It will Blow your mind.
Edgar and Johnny Winter, Tobacco Road. That should be next.
I saw them at The Fox in Atlanta in the 70s. Awesome
This was the beginning of FUNK, The legendary Rick Derringer on lead electric guitar!
Rick Derringer was there on guitar...Story is that Edgar started and then they just each tried to out-play the other...They had been on a three day no sleep and in the studio...Each one trying to piss off the other by out playing em. LOL Drummer later said in an interview he didn't even know how his arms were still moving. !!!!!! Best JAM session EVER! NO AUDIENCE!!!!
You should really check out Edgar and his twin brother Johnny's rendition of Tobacco Road.
Brothers, not twins.
Great rock song,love it.
It's hard for me to believe this song is 50 years old now. I was a little kid when it came out.
Love your reaction videos!!! This was a monster hit back then! So glad I lived through the best music and rock and roll in history in the 60's, 70's and 80's!! How about doing 'Under African Skies' off Paul Simon's (of Simon and Garfunkel) Graceland Album... Every song on that album is timeless... and Under African Skies has the best duet with Linda Ronstadt!! ruclips.net/video/a3nFdBi6gQE/видео.html
"I wonder how many instruments he plays" 😂
All of them lol.
Q: How many?
A: Yes.
Exactly. That about killed me. 😁
More than all. He's playing things which aren't even instruments...
I agree 100 times with Dave Wilson, below. You need to see/hear Tobacco Road by Edgar Winter and his brother, Johnny Winter. You saw what a skilled and versatile musician EW was on Frankenstein. Now you get to hear what a fantastic singer and musician he is on Tobacco Road. You will be BLOWN AWAY within the first 60 seconds.
Edgar Winter Autumn is one of my favorrites. ,free ride,
My favorite part is the bicycle horn. LOL, well one of my favorite parts.
They created a monster. in length craftsmanship and popularity. They added pieces of Rock, Funk and early Techno to create "Frankenstien".
Unbridled talent !!
Tobacco Road LIVE is a MUST
You'll love it ✌😎
This is one of a trinity of songs unique to the era the other one is
In A Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly and then Hocus Pocus by Focus
I drove Edgar Winter to the airport in Houston once. He sat in the passenger seat right next to me and never even looked in my direction. The guys who rode in the backseat were cool, but Edgar was not friendly at all.
Frankenstein. I can see the movie in my mind, from inception to creation to chaos!
You wont believe edgars vocals in -tobacco road. ‘And brother johnnys guitar okaying will blow you away!!!!!
This guy Rick derringer on guitar is very hot !
Wait, I wasn’t ready for this! Fantastic

Rick Derringer lead Guitarist. He had a hit with Rock and Roll Hoochiekoo. Frankenstein music in regards to 60's horror classic FRANKENSTEIN MOVIE. DR. FRANKENSTEIN MADE A Monster of dead corpses. ...
Without a doubt the best albino music ever!
I've been asking for this....oops, just now found this.
Need to check out Tobacco Road live 1970, mind blowing!!!
Edgar Winter and his brother Johnny are amazingly talented. If you liked that drum solo, you should check out Karen Carpenter’s drum solos. There are a couple of them out there. You will be amazed.
Edgar and Johnny Winters
I've never ever heard of them. Thanks for new stuff. Please play Miss Sarajevo. Bono and Pavorotti. Thanks Mr. Reaction
you gotta do tobacco road all of us are in agreement with this one these boys got some soul let me tell ya they are twin brothers edgar is on keys an johnny on guitar they are albino as well. they are wonderful.um um.
And there you have it!! Edgar winter band.the guy with white hair and guy on drum ( Jonathan??)are brothers. Edgar ( albino) is the guy who plays like 50 instruments. Loll. As a child he couldnt go outside to play during sunshine so he learned music. Johnny Winter( brother and drummer.. This band was the start of synthesized music. Most of us were not sure we liked it or not. Loll. Keep going Jayvee!!! Must hear Tobacco road by Edgar
No vocals necessary man. That's Edgar's brother Johnny on drums. Both so damn talented. Such a fucking classic haven't heard this in so long. Check out Free Ride by them another number one with actual vocals.
The drummer is Chuck Ruff. His brother Johnny was a guitarist. Also they're both albino. So the hair is literally white. Chuck is blonde.
Emerson Lake and Palmer (ELP) live Pirates Montreal 1966 12 minutes of rock.
