When Guy, who himself was an Italian-American (like Dean) started speaking Italian in the voice of the Indian chief, Dean went into 3rd gear of hysterical laughter - Seeing Dean laughing so heartily at these roasts is both heartwarming and filled with pathos, in retrospect, appreciating the tragedy that Dean had to endure with the shocking death of his son Dino - may they both rest in peace
Comic Brilliance.. One of the funniest bits I have ever seen. Just watch Dean and Don break up uncontrollably. Guy Marks was a great and under appreciated comedian.
I don't know who those 62 people who gave this a thumbs down are???... but they obviously don't recognize comedy greatness!... This was a true comedy genius at work.
I just found out that Guy Marks impersonation of Robert Mitchums "smoke the pipe".was reference to Mitchums marijuana bust years ago whe he was an actor...Either way,Guy Marks was hysterical!!!!!!
Guy Marks gave a show of talent and interpretation. Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper and Robert Mitchum including the Indian Chief in a simply magnificent way. Priceless to see the other stars laughing uncontrollably. And even made a ''Everybody loves somebody" by Dean Martin in Indian language. Embraces from Brazil.
Indubitably one of the most fascinating performances in Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts. It is painful for me to realise that most of these womderful performers are now deceased.
YES. SADLY ALL THE DRINKING, SMOKING AND PARTYING, TOOKS IT'S TOLL ON MOST OF THESE PEOPLE. IT'S GREAT TO WATCH THEM AND GLAD WE HAVE THESE AROUND TO WATCH AND DON'T HAVE THE NUT CASE LEFTISTS TAKEN THEM DOWN.
he was my uncle, one time when we were living in Denver he came to pick up my mon and dad to see his show with Sammy Davis Jr. at the Temple Buell Theater in Denver , I walked out to the limo and inside was Sammy, his blonde girlfriend and that huge rock Davis had on his finger, I look at his eyes and didn't know which one to look at because his lazy eye was looking of to outer space.I remember Sammy had some horrible mens cologne on. I was 13 yrs old. He loved to eat at this real old Italian resuraunt in Denver, the owners loved him, he wold do his impressions there also.
Who picked guy marks . Maybe a bigger star if they came up with a stronger name , can you imagine rocky starring sylvester marks or godfatherwith al marks.
Guy Marks...brilliant, smooth, classy and completely under-appreciated stand up comedian of the golden age. When he did Bogart talking in the Indian dialect I thought Dino and Rickles were going to burst a blood vessel. Like Groucho Marx, these guys appreciated comedians who were just as funny, if not funnier, than they were. The true sign of legends who really loved each other.
Absolutely! This bit was hysterical, Guy Marks was a riot! Don't know what's funnier: the Italian speaking American Indian OR Bogie speaking Indian, LMAO!!
Considered politically incorrect today, Marks absolutely brought down the house with this off-the-wall and hilarious performance. No one with a brain or a shred of decency would take anything away from the Native American people because of it. It saddens me that we’ve sacrificed our sense of humor for the sole purpose of not running the risk of disparaging an ethnic, religious or any other segment of society. When we laugh at ourselves, the world is a brighter place. It has the potential to bring us closer together than just jerking ourselves off in a huge Kumbaya circle.
I loved the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts😂 Those were truly good times, and better yet, they were not done with nasty vulgarity. I stopped watching celebrity roasts, a long time ago. Besides, it’s not really celebrity roasting, when all they do is spew disgusting vulgarity 🤢🤮
Dean got a taste of his very own medicine.( I say this in a very good positive way) The many laughs he and Jerry gave people throughout the years, came and hit him all at once. Many people don't know that Dean's first language was Italian and not English (spoken with a Abruzzi accent). When Mario Scarpa,( Guy Mark) where his roots are from Naples Italy , which is not really that far from Abruzzi, where Dean would understand everything; made it more special and even funnier for him whenever Guy Marks would throw in a little Italian here and there, another Italian guest sitting at the roast was Ernest borgnine.
I don't know who Guy Marks was but his delivery was awesome, I think I laughed as much because of the state of Dean Martin, the only thing I'm stuck at is the song at the end, what made it so funny? I don't know the connection
What was the date of this show? I saw him do a similar routine on the Dean Martin Variety show in 1967 and Guy Marks definitely is older and grayer in this routine.
Guy Marks (October 31, 1923 - November 28, 1987) was an American actor, comedian, singer and impressionist. A familiar face on TV sitcoms and variety shows of the 1960s and 1970s, he appeared regularly on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Merv Griffin Show, The Dean Martin Show, The Mike Douglas Show, and The Joey Bishop Show. He had a natural gift for mimicry, and his impressions of celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Boris Karloff, and many others were considered among the best. However, he also could imitate a housefly on a slippery oil cloth, neon signs, alligators, driftwood furniture, rubber bands, frozen chickens, frogs, praying mantis, and - his favorite - an ostrich, all of which found their way into his act or in characters he played on TV.
Those roasts were hilarious. I remember watching every one when they came on. I'm sure today there would be so much hate mail, they would be banned. Wait, they were!
How come this guy never had his own show ? He was a co-star on the Joey Bishop show, but I heard he clashed with Bishop and was replaced with Corbett Monica.
This Is The Single most funny Bit EVER in TV History. Just wish they would clean up the graphics & audio so it's crystal clear. They could put this in the Smithsonian Institute it's so CLASSIC and Cherished!
Guy was a real deal italian. I guess he felt he needed to change his name to make it in hollywood. Check out hus brothers and sisters names they are awesome.
AND WAS IT VOA TV OR RUclips THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR CUTTING GUY MARKS WONDERFUL IMPRESSION IN THE FIRST FEW SECONDS OF THIS APPEARANCE ON DEAN MARTIN ROASTS?? MARKS WAS ONE OF THE VERY BEST!!
I recorded this when it first came out on a cassette player. I later would play it when I'd drive to Florida. It kept me going for a lotta miles on the car's cassette player.
In 2022~very racist by today's standards; yet, growing up with this crew and loving their entertaining gifts; imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I can only hope that Native Americans are charmed.
I have watched this about 20 times in the last week Guy Marks was the best !
*Marks

You are sooo right!
Very funny man ... When you can make other entertainers laugh that hard , you have something !
Watching Guy Marks do this routine cracked me up. What a talent!
An Indian Chief that spoke perfect Italian. That was perfect. 👍
Just about split my sides whe he spoke as Bogey speaking Native American . What a talented man. Handsome too.
Always loved the Dean Martin Roasts, this classic Guy Marx bit was my alltime favorite....thats just......dandy!
Watching Don Rickles, Dean and Michael Landon laughing so hard is a testiment to how funny Guy really was...a classic!
I've watched all these roasts and never saw Dean and Don laugh so hard, Guy was a genius! Cracks me up every time, thanks for the post.
He was hilarious on The Dick Van Dyke Show, too; as Sally's fiance! 😆
Exactly
His Gary Cooper impression is incredible
Hilarious!
A great Italian Indian. Bravissimo Signore Marks. A paisan from Philadelphia. A wonderful and underrated talent !
They shoukd do this act at the UC Berkeley Faculty Dinner...
See you can be funny without using dirty words to get your point across!!!!!!!!!!!
rolandrd7001 Support comedians like JIm Norton. . real men use profanity. This is sissy comedy.
Paul Tortora Fuck off you Amoeba.
no need to use profanity. jeez
+rolandrd7001 Exactly!
Yep, in those days they used something called "talent" to elicit a laugh. Those days are gone.
I don't know who those 62 people who gave this a thumbs down are???... but they obviously don't recognize comedy greatness!...
This was a true comedy genius at work.
This is when there was class in Hollywood...! Nothing can or ever will touch this.
Guy Marks in this was sensational. A vastly underrated comedian.
His Bogart was the best impression of all time.
Don and Dean are dying with laughter.
We'll never see these guys again. It's what they left that was just outstanding. A+++++
These roasts were the best...... Guy Mark's routine is just as funny today. It's too bad political correctness is now what it is.
Omg , laughing so much ,I have tears in my eyes . What a shame we have lost our sense of humor and can't laugh at ourselves anymore .
5
I love this and foster brooks 😍
If you understand Italian you laughed even more like Dean did when he translated "there are no towels in the men's room".
If anyone can make Don Rickles laugh that hard....you're funny.....period
Political correctness would never allow that skit today. It's a shame, times were much better years ago.
You think times were much better years ago? You must be a white male then.
Are you offended at the impressions in the video?
@@erichvonmolder9310 Is Cuomo your daddy?
@@ulu3240 , we do have a resemblance, but my nose isn't as wide as his.
@@erichvonmolder9310 At least you both know America was never great!

Actually that sounded more like Guy's Bogart saying the line.
He was my uncle and was not even the funniest person in the family. All of his brothers and sisters were very funny.
your a lucky guy to have 'that' sort of brilliance in your family. This performance is nothing short of genius
He about killed Dean Martin with this
Now this is flat out funny I laughed my ass off!
Whenever I want a hearty laugh, I see this segment. I laugh so hard, I tear up. What a talent!
I can see my mom and dad (now deceased) watching this back then and laughing their butts off!
@Judy Gaines That's why this is a bittersweet memory. I so miss those days with them here, especially around the holidays. Happy Thanksgiving, Judy!!
Dean almost died laughing and it in turn almost killed me with laughter.
If laughter is good for the soul these guys should still be alive today. It's a shame their not!
I agree
He always starts chewing before the Cooper impression. It's incredible.
Sitting here crying with laughter, possibly the best roast I've ever seen!
he was my uncle, one time when we were living in Denver he came to pick up my mon and dad to see his show with Sammy Davis Jr. at the Temple Buell Theater in Denver , I walked out to the limo and inside was Sammy, his blonde girlfriend and that huge rock Davis had on his finger, I look at his eyes and didn't know which one to look at because his lazy eye was looking of to outer space.I remember Sammy had some horrible mens cologne on. Sam had no lazy eye. he had only one eye.
He didn't have a lazy eye. He had a glass eye.
How fantastic
Who picked guy marks . Maybe a bigger star if they came up with a stronger name , can you imagine rocky starring sylvester marks or godfatherwith al marks.
None the less a funny guy .any one who cracks up rickles has got something

@@minafanelli8931 Guy MARKS WAS SPEAKING Italian and of course, Dean understood and Dean became hysterical.
i never get tired to watch guy marks ( real name mario scarpa) and i never seen dean martin laughing so hard at anytime, just very very funny...
Absolutely! This bit was hysterical, Guy Marks was a riot!
Don't know what's funnier: the Italian speaking American Indian OR Bogie speaking Indian, LMAO!!
Why wasn't Marks a household name ?
A SPECTACULAR COMEDIC PERFORMANCE BY GUY MARKS.
Even back on the Joey Bishop Show, Guy Marks was an explosion of talent just waiting to be unleashed.
What a gifted man Guy Marks was and what really breaks me up is to see old Dean and Don in convulsions of laughter...magic is the only word for this!
Guy Marks did the absolute best Gary Cooper impression I've ever heard. Genius!
the all time greats.made you laugh non stop without swearing.the good old days.just brilliant.
His italian is actually very good I'm impressed 👌
he actually is italian

Bogart was great but what about Gary Cooper? Amazing is too small a word to describe what this man could do!
I had Guy on my radio show in NJ, years ago and he was so kind to let me do some voices with him. What a treat!!
Both Don and Dean are about to keel over with laughter 🤣. Such a talented guy.
Don't make comedians like that anymore. No cussing, no vulgarity, no trashing of the President just good old fashioned comedy.
Dean got a taste of his very own medicine.( I say this in a very good positive way) The many laughs he and Jerry gave people throughout the years, came and hit him all at once. HUMPHREY BOGART, AN GARYCOOPER, COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ROOM.
I haven't seen Dean Martin laugh that hard since the drunk pilot episode on his variety show with Foster Brooks.
I don't know who Guy Marks was but his delivery was awesome, I think I laughed as much because of the state of Dean Martin, the only thing I'm stuck at is the song at the end, what made it so funny? I don't know the connection
It was Dean’s signature song “Everybody Loves Somebody”
What was the date of this show? I saw him do a similar routine on the Dean Martin Variety show in 1967 and Guy Marks definitely is older and grayer in this routine.
According to ranker dot com with a list of all the episodes, this was May 15, 1975.
Check out time 3:32 Dean Martin has to pause because he is laughing so hard
GUY MARKS'S IMPRESSIONS WERE RIGHT ON POINT.
This is one of the funniest things I've seen...What exactly is he saying when he speaks Italian? XD
There's no towels in the men's room!
There's no towels in the men's room :)
I have watched a lot of these old roast clips and I got to say I have never seen Dean Martin laughed so hard! 😆
I remember watching these guys in my late teens and early twenties. They're all dead now. I thought Dean Martin was gonna stroke out here.
Hilarious!!! U wouldn’t get away w this material in today’s woke world….😂😂😂
If Guy had a manager getting him more exposure he would've been a huge star.
I thought Foster Brooks roasting of Rickles was the funniest roast until I saw this one. Hilarious!!
It’s so sad they are all gone now
today would of been guy's 91st birthday.
Does anyone know what he's saying it must Italian since Dean us laughing so hard????
Yes, he was saying something about soap and why were there no towels. Of course, much more w was said.
Kirk Struhart Literally he's saying that there are no towels in the men's room.

when comedy was actually funny
Pure Genius!
Without a doubt the absolute, best, hands down, presentation of any of the Dean Martin celebrity roasts. Thanks Guy, Dean, and Michael.
These Roast Are Timeless Todays Roast Are Vulgar And Boring Give Me A Dean Martin Roast Any Day Of The Week!
His gary cooper
Is amazing lol.
An absolute masterpiece of comedic genius equal to any of Rembrandts portraits
How come this guy never had his own show ? He was a co-star on the Joey Bishop show, but I heard he clashed with Bishop and was replaced with Corbett Monica.
Have to agree this wouldnt Fly in 2020 But back in the 80 it was Funny Like All in the Family would not fly today but did in the 70 s
He was Hilarious. When he broke into Humphrey Bogart speaking Navajo, I had to stop the video. LOL! ROFL!! Very creative and funny.
If that is not the absolute funniest bits I ever saw, it was the subtleties of the bit that was hilarious.
Guy Marks isnt even the best part.... Dean Martin crying at this bit is so contagious I can't help but cry everytime dean starts screaming
This is one powerful laugh, all the time
Real comedy!
This Is The Single most funny Bit EVER in TV History. Just wish they would clean up the graphics & audio so it's crystal clear. They could put this in the Smithsonian Institute it's so CLASSIC and Cherished!

An era of great comedians, able to poke fun at life simply for the joy of laughter. We'll never see it again...

Guy Marks: Brilliant!
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL OUR VETERANS.PLEASE PRAY MORE. THE BEST OF THE BEST. LOOK AT DEAN.
Guy Marks was a genius.
Very funny 10 minutes with Guy Marks. I did Indian chants with Don Rickles at the Sands in the 60's
but certainly not as funny as Guy Marks! Bravo.
What I would give for someone to translate the Italian speech he's giving from about 1:56 -2:20 or so. Please?
There are no towles in the men's room! XD
Basically yes, “there’s no towels in the mens room”, but there was much more when he went on to rant beyond that, totally for Dean’s enjoyment.
best roast ever !!!!
