@Tomaskers Music i think because had dropped the accents , no christopher reeve jokes and actually acknoeledged being away and we had never heard him like that before where as relapse was the shady we know and love..so recovery seemed like a new em where as relapse didnt
I’m 2 years late, but I’m really glad somebody said this. Some people dog Recovery, but in the moment, that album was his comeback. His way of truly moving forward. Relapse is definitely the one I return to more, but at the time, Recovery was a much more important moment for Em.
0:14 Eminem also dropped The Re-Up in December 06. Although that’s also technically a compilation album it featured a handful of new (at the time) verses from em
Looking back I should've definitely mentioned it even though I was trying to emphasize the point of Encore being Eminem's last solo studio album at the time with curtain call being a greatest hits compilation of strictly his work
you mean that Shady XV album??? And I've heard a good number of those unreleased songs on mixtaps like Ballin Uncontrollably, he got a full dedication song to Proof that is dope, T.I.'s All She Wrote is actually an Eminem song that got all Eminem verses and Eminem's Ridaz go hard
I like that you tackled this. But what you didn’t quite capture was the theme of Relapse vs. Recovery, Em’s mental state writing both, and the public reaction to Relapse & the accents that caused Em to disown his own project. On Recovery he said “Those last 2 albums didn’t count, Encore I was on drugs, Relapse I was flushing them out”. Eminem said he had to learn how to rap all over again after almost dying of overdose following Proof’s death. Relapse was part of finding that sound again. While hardcore fans and horrorcore enthusiasts dug the album at the time, the general audience did not vibe with it. They trashed his accents and while it was commercially successful, to this day in interviews Em seems to talk down about the album, hurt by the critical and fan reception. So that fueled the “revival” that was Recovery, and definitely part of why he didn’t continue with Relapse 2. It’s only in recent times that the album has earned a sort of cult following as more people acknowledge its unique value.
Agree with your point. I'd add that Relapse was just too much for the audience. it’s too dark but not in the way that the SSLP and MMLP were, Eminem’s rhymes always had that shock horrorcore value, but he never made an entire concept album impersonating a serial killer, with full tracks explaining in specific details the hunt, the capture and the murder of his victims while depicting his sick thoughts and feelings. I love it, it touches the darkest parts of human pshyche, it’s really challenging to sit through and listen, you have to be open-minded and a little bit crazy to appreciate it. Honestly I don’t even know how that album still got multiplatinum, it’s really an anomaly. If it was dropped nowadays in this climate, Em would be jailed immediately lol
This is an excellent comment! I think if you were to release Relapse 2 now there would be a lot of people put off by the overall theme of an album like that. An Eminem is way bigger than he was in 2009 in terms of his audience. If for some reason he decided to release Relapse 2 now, he would have to also release a nowadays typical Eminem rap album simultaneously so that niche fans that love the style of Relapse can enjoy Relapse 2 while also pleasing his general audience with the other album. Of course he would never do that because the focus of this music would be split in half and it would hurt the sales of both albums but still in a hypothetical situation it is definitely interesting to think about
I really enjoyed relapse since it was basically a sadistic maniac’s dream come true. Murder after murder on each song. With clever wordplay in them. To this day I’m listening to music box, stay wide awake & buffalo bill either 24/7 or when I’m cleaning my chainsaw after a hard days tree fell

It wasn't the funeral it was "The Empact" was supposed to also have ballin uncontrollably, my darling, beautiful, and careful what you wish for, basically half of the album was what we thought was gonna be for king Mathers
Relapse was his last good album, imo. In the book of the cd it said something like: proof you would have loved this album, cuz im spazzing out. And that says a lot about the fun and left field humor on this project. I never understood why this album got so underated afterwards.
Mass audience didn’t want to hear classic Dre beats, the content of Relapse was very heavy and hard for normies to handle, and the multi syllable complex rhyme schemes over boom bap aren’t impressive to a mass audience. It’s a shame. Eminem took the hint and went with bland JustBlaze style beats that sounded like the era and decided to go the double/triple entendre route with punchlines. Recovery was glorified gym music.
the accents were intentional, relapse is basically a serial killer movie on record ! if you go back and listen to the album in its entirety you will hear what i am talking about ! Relapse is a masterpiece and so sleepd on, complete genius what he did on that album
Didn't know the warning was made in the Hawaii session. But great video. But if you could do more eminem unknown info that be dope. But good luck on your channel 👍

If I could have one wish it would be to have access to all of Ems unreleased music. Those songs he made during his break had to have been so raw due to the shit he was going thru. I’d love to hear them
It never felt like Eminem really took a break for me. With the music videos & singles coming out in 2005 and 2006 for Curtain Call & The Re-Up and then coming back out with promo in 2008 for Relapse.
1:30 detox is on a milk carton right about now it ain't never coming out just like that secret Wu-Tang album once upon a Time in Shaolin I will be a old old old man when the album come out I most likely will not live to see it
If anyone knows the song discombobulated from Music to be murdered by: Side B. To me that sounds like a Relapse leftover or Relapse 2. ruclips.net/video/LRIamSHWEug/видео.html it sounds like Relapse vibes and Dre produced it...
Oh God I hope one day we get to hear everything this man has written and I truly hope it gets put out there I just hope we don't have to wait till he dies but I'm almost positive that he has an album that he probably works on when that day comes I'm sure there's an album ready to drop about his own death it would not surprise me and that day would be a very sad day and I don't even know the guy
Eminem is not in the studio for 15 hours a day. He said he works it like a job. 9-5. Akon said in an interview that he arrived late to Ems studio and that Em clocked off just 2 hours later
Bro everyone knows and it's well documented that Em treats the Studio like a 9-5 job... in at 8 or 9 lunch at 12 or 1 leaves at 5! This changed how Akon and a few others work now! Love your vids thi an this one fr fe .... Ems my fav HipHop Artist
eminem in the last decade been making some of the worst decisions in his career , scrapping relapse 2 for recovery , making slaughterhouse do the commercial shit and fucking up their album , that revival tracklist , having access to alchemist/dre/dj premier beats and can get verses from almost any rapper you can think of and still does feature with pink and skylar grey and ed sheeran
It’s absurd. It’s like Eminem doesn’t want to be upstaged or something. He has the money and clout to have a whole album produced by Premo. Why not get Kool G Rap or any of these dudes he shouted out at the Hall of Fame on a record. I don’t know it just seems like he doesn’t have control over his career direction. Like he literally sold his soul to the devil and is forced to make other people tons of money. The industry does seem like a big club sometimes, and public opinion is so easily manipulated by the media and the entities that own it. Maybe he just figures he won’t rock the boat, cement himself with his icon status, and stay in good graces with the perceived elite.
That was a little bit crazy that he had never put out part two to his first album now me that one definitely would have been huge I definitely would have bought it but hopefully one day it does come out
I think the reason as to why it never dropped is because he maybe was not into the music business anymore and he decided to quit hip hop for good but he never gave up hope but maybe someday it does happen now I do have a feeling that if he does not drop the album I would be a little bit disappointed
Honestly Relapse is one of Eminem best albums. If you get rid of the accents and Eminem just do his normal voice Release would be just as good as The Eminem Show not possible to get near The Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LPs. The production was amazing, I loved the lyrical content, verses and chorus was dope. Relapse Eminem was him as his purest while Recovery and everything after that was questionable poppy.
If you get rid of the accents it just wouldn't have been as good. The accents helps him to portray the serial killer character, if he had a normal voice with serious tone the album would have lost unique mood and charm.
Talk about Dr. Dre’s Detox album The Wu Tang’s Once Upon A Time in Shaolin 50 Cent Street Kings Immortal The Canceled Rakim Album produced by Dr. Dre. Kanye West Jesus is King 2
Relapse was my least favorite album mostly bc I had listened to everything of his prior to this album. My lil homeboys thought it was the shit tho. But his worst album is still greater than alot of today's music.
LOL detoxes a story for itself yes it is and finally we will get something more than what we got from the GTA songs I think we're getting a full Dre album I cannot wait especially if it was like those GTA songs
Shady media is an amazing Channel where you can hear songs that I have no idea how this person gets the song sometimes I wonder if it's Eminem I mean this dude has Eminem doing Dre's verse of crack the bottle tell me how he got that
Well there was kind of a relapse to it had like what five tracks on it that's why I keep hating that they say forever is a Drake song when it was featured on relapse RX 2 some songs on there I believe was Buffalo Bill elevator which I think was the best song on that but I would love for a full album of a relapse sequel the way he portrays a serial killer I mean he does that still in a lot of songs but the full album I don't think we could get a sequel to relapse because his mind frame is completely different unless there is like 15 songs or even 10 songs that just weren't released at that time when he was doing relapses that's the only way we would get that and I think it would be like a anniversary Relapse album but yeah I would love it relapse and Revival are like my favorite Eminem albums and I know people going to bitch he didn't say anything Revival it wasn't hard enough the guy puts his heart on his sleeve and everyone hates on him so congratulations the majority of the people you will never get an album like that again and to the people that do love that album Sorry
They replaced and or killed every major rap/hip-hop artist since the late 80s.. nobody wanna talk about that tho. Artists these days come and go so quickly labels don't have to take it that far. They just destroy their character until they fall off get 'canceled or kill themselves.
The warning LOL I believe went straight to RUclips and that shut Mariah up for a very long time and Nick Cannon until Nick Cannon became how would you word it not relevant then he started to go on after Eminem so look how long it took Eminem to get at MGK I wonder if he'll go back around his merry-go-round and get back at Nick Cannon God I hope so
Those accents,, 😂were the real reason they hated, lol... Those accents were the big reasons em Gave us unpredictable RHYME schemes... That felt like gift once in a lifetime.... Fir us real rap em lover
Here’s a thought. 2009-10 was right around the time Hailie would be old enough to seek out Eminem’s music, especially with the internet flourishing. Maybe he’s just too embarrassed to make something like Relapse for that reason.

We all were pissed, the other shitty thing that came out of recovery was his new batch of annoying fans that started steering him in the wrong direction
Fun fact - Curtain call has three tracks that were going to be on The Funeral Album that he scrapped and went into hiatus.
On Fire, So bad, Ridaz some of my fav songs of that era. crazy that there might be more like those
There is a fan made version of relapse 2 with leaked tracks, it’s so damn good
Well relapse to turn into recovery I'm assuming which is an amazing album but I feel like every Eminem album is an amazing album
If u take away the accents, relapse has some good moments. 3am is still one of the craziest uses of syllables ever.
Hello... Allow me to introduce myself
@@The-Endo-SymArmor My name is... shaady
the accents were intentional, relapse is basically a serial killer movie on record ! if you go back and listen to the album in its entirety you will hear what i am talking about ! Relapse is a masterpiece and so sleepd on, complete genius what he did on that album
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
Take away the accents?! Gtfo
Didn't know the warning was made in the Hawaii session. But great video. But if you could do more eminem unknown info that be dope. But good luck on your channel 👍
You'll have to let me know of some things since I'm not very familiar with his less known stuff
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
yo "so bad" is actually one of my favorites from recovery
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
10. Revival
9. Encore
8. Kamikaze
7. Music to be Murdered By
6.Recovery
5.MMLP2
4. Relapse
3.TES
2.SSLP
1.MMLP
My same exact list except I'd switch Kamikaze to 7 and MTBMB to 8, but they're definitely in the same tier quality wise
I don't remember where, I think in a magazine article with Denaun, was pretty sure Fame and Hit Me With Your Best Shot were also part of Hawaii sessions
I was deep into IV use when relapse came out. Had a burnt copy playing in my car 24/7 during that time
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
Recovery 2 would of been a finer release
Relapse was a creative peak for him followed by 10 years of trash
Never ever seen that pic of Em in the UNC jersey in the studio with Dre
Knowing that So Bad which is my favorite song from recovery and that it was the ONLY one on the album, that’s just neat.
If I could have one wish it would be to have access to all of Ems unreleased music. Those songs he made during his break had to have been so raw due to the shit he was going thru. I’d love to hear them
I thought relapse was amazing back in 2009. To me tho, Recovery has aged better
Eminem one of the best ever 🐐
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
It never felt like Eminem really took a break for me. With the music videos & singles coming out in 2005 and 2006 for Curtain Call & The Re-Up and then coming back out with promo in 2008 for Relapse.
Detox, 50 Cent Street King Immortal, Lil Wayne and Juelz Can't feel my Face
Already did a video on I can't feel my face: ruclips.net/video/AcgnJtvNXtQ/видео.html
@@cloutcancun ite I'm bout to watch it
1:30 detox is on a milk carton right about now it ain't never coming out just like that secret Wu-Tang album once upon a Time in Shaolin I will be a old old old man when the album come out I most likely will not live to see it
once upon a Time in Shaolin is real and its kinda out its only one cd that martin shkreli had then the fbi took it and now someone else has it
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
If anyone knows the song discombobulated from Music to be murdered by: Side B. To me that sounds like a Relapse leftover or Relapse 2. ruclips.net/video/LRIamSHWEug/видео.html it sounds like Relapse vibes and Dre produced it...
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html Kingpenn Monzoe
Oh God I hope one day we get to hear everything this man has written and I truly hope it gets put out there I just hope we don't have to wait till he dies but I'm almost positive that he has an album that he probably works on when that day comes I'm sure there's an album ready to drop about his own death it would not surprise me and that day would be a very sad day and I don't even know the guy
I liked relapse over recovery but since kamikaze he's way better murder to be murdered by is my favorite album out his discography
Eminem is not in the studio for 15 hours a day. He said he works it like a job. 9-5. Akon said in an interview that he arrived late to Ems studio and that Em clocked off just 2 hours later
But that was before he overdosed.
Bro do KING MATHERS next
Bro everyone knows and it's well documented that Em treats the Studio like a 9-5 job... in at 8 or 9 lunch at 12 or 1 leaves at 5! This changed how Akon and a few others work now! Love your vids thi an this one fr fe .... Ems my fav HipHop Artist
This may go unnoticed but I am a upcoming artist that working hard & worth the listen 💫
I think I got the talent .
eminem in the last decade been making some of the worst decisions in his career , scrapping relapse 2 for recovery , making slaughterhouse do the commercial shit and fucking up their album , that revival tracklist , having access to alchemist/dre/dj premier beats and can get verses from almost any rapper you can think of and still does feature with pink and skylar grey and ed sheeran
Facts
In 2006 he dropped the “Re-Up”
That was a little bit crazy that he had never put out part two to his first album now me that one definitely would have been huge I definitely would have bought it but hopefully one day it does come out
Wait, what about Refill? Wasn't it like an extension to relapse?
I liked Recovery tbh.
If you get rid of the accents it just wouldn't have been as good. The accents helps him to portray the serial killer character, if he had a normal voice with serious tone the album would have lost unique mood and charm.
He could drop a lost drive ep and most of it would be gas
Should do a Gucci v Eminem cause they low-key been beefing for years since that Mariah shit
And can you do Eminem’s re up mixtape instead of the album please thank you
So refill was made befor relapse or after?
Can you do a unreleased on d12 third studio album please
Talk about
Dr. Dre’s Detox album
The Wu Tang’s Once Upon A Time in Shaolin
50 Cent Street Kings Immortal
The Canceled Rakim Album produced by Dr. Dre.
Kanye West Jesus is King 2
Down with the Club 23
how does eminem have that pfp in 2010? 3:55
He didn't its a new screenshot
@@Dasbodacious oh lol
Well yeah man you got relapse relapse rx2 recovery and more what else came out around that time tons of stuff
Relapse was my least favorite album mostly bc I had listened to everything of his prior to this album. My lil homeboys thought it was the shit tho. But his worst album is still greater than alot of today's music.
I thought relapse 2 did drop
I’m having a relapse is a freestyle not a song
Make one on 2Pac one nation album that never came out and also troublesome 92
Quck fact: EM is only working from 9 to 5
🦋🕊❤️
LOL detoxes a story for itself yes it is and finally we will get something more than what we got from the GTA songs I think we're getting a full Dre album I cannot wait especially if it was like those GTA songs
aye fooo
Should of did Eminem first ep infinite and the slim shady ep beginning
Shady media is an amazing Channel where you can hear songs that I have no idea how this person gets the song sometimes I wonder if it's Eminem I mean this dude has Eminem doing Dre's verse of crack the bottle tell me how he got that
Detox really is a mess
You can't rush Eminem's Relapse "Never has there been such finesse and nostalgia"
They replaced and or killed every major rap/hip-hop artist since the late 80s.. nobody wanna talk about that tho. Artists these days come and go so quickly labels don't have to take it that far. They just destroy their character until they fall off get 'canceled or kill themselves.
ruclips.net/video/0D4l2w83BC4/видео.html
The warning LOL I believe went straight to RUclips and that shut Mariah up for a very long time and Nick Cannon until Nick Cannon became how would you word it not relevant then he started to go on after Eminem so look how long it took Eminem to get at MGK I wonder if he'll go back around his merry-go-round and get back at Nick Cannon God I hope so
Those accents,, 😂were the real reason they hated, lol...
Those accents were the big reasons em Gave us unpredictable RHYME schemes... That felt like gift once in a lifetime.... Fir us real rap em lover
Eminem looks sad
recovery is one of THE WORST MIXED ALBUMS I EVER HEARD
Relapse 2 is out its called recovery -
I'm glad he didn't make a second one because the first on was trash.
Thank God Em scrapped that album. Hated Relapse
Here’s a thought. 2009-10 was right around the time Hailie would be old enough to seek out Eminem’s music, especially with the internet flourishing. Maybe he’s just too embarrassed to make something like Relapse for that reason.
I was very disappointed with Recovery. The production was bland and it didn’t have that edge. Relapse was his last great record.
