This was a supercell thunderstorm to produce hail that big. It takes some major updrafts to get hail that big. Supercells can be imbedded in a line of storms, which this one most likely was, and was one of several reasons for no tornado spawning. Another storm to the south of it was probably disrupting the inflow and keeping it from getting the right conditions to produce a tornado.
I rather stay here and face the hurricane seasons. The condo is sturdy and yes it did sway somewhat with Hurricane Maria, but it didn't blow away like tornado do to the paper & matches structures built in the States! And we have enough time to prepare for them. By March I begin my stockpile, adding every month. The only problem I have is the heat and humidity that comes as the aftermath...
