I do not think we should worry about it. Animals are part of nature, they know how to lead in similar situations. I think that they anticipated this storm and are already in safe places.

maybe one day cars will have shield like the ones we watch on sci fi movie lol...when the shield get hit by hails or other stuff, it will deplete but it will regenerate slowly back to full capacity.
fun fact: sturgis sd is actually in “hail alley” just like wyoming, so if you live or visit in sd or wyoming in the summer PLAN TRIPS ACCORDINGLY! ive visited both states before and nearly lost a car to hail! thankfully im a mechanic so repairs werent insanely hard but still!
In 2000 sturgis got eight inches of hail. Belfouch SD had softball size hail. There was a lot of work around there that year. Dam i miss the Black Hills

Here in Austria we invest in Planes that spray some chemical mixture into the air that makes hail smaller and less freezable, this means more rain and flooding, yet little to no Hail Damage.
Its heartbreaking when you know the price of the bikes thats getting damaged...i would have pulled mine into the damn store or something...i be damned if I'm gonna let mine get messed up by hail...
Plan of action if you are at home and your car is there to.....Grab all your bedding sheets & thick quilts......cover your car as fast as you can with the bedding, hopefully your car will survive the attack, bedding can be dried out, whereas dozens of dints won't buff out.
