You would think that people would have the common sense to step BACK from large expanses of glass during a storm of this intensity, with obviously extra-large hailstones clearly visible and audible as they hit the building - but no. They had to be told to move.

Besides that cool storm, what a beautiful library!

Yes amazing when the Qld state government spends money on the state capital and lets other cities in the state deal with outdated crap :(

Looks like the popular street library in Memphis TN. It is just as similar and beautiful.

WOW!!!! Scary AF!! I'm from Brisbane but I now live in Perth. I lived through the infamous 1985 storm. I don't miss Brisbane, but I sure as hell miss these storms!!

Remember the March 22, 2010 hailstorm in Perth?
You still see cars today around Perth covered in hundreds of dents from that day.

Lived thru the 1985 storm is a way to say it for sure. I remember it like it was yesterday and have never seen anything as bad since.

I do not know. I thought the 27 November 2014 was worse.
That one did me in. Terrifying.
And yes I have a love/hate relationship with our stores.

Oh man. We DO get used to these storms in Brisbane but the BIG ones still suprise us.
Guys... stay away from the windows. There WERE some windows in high rises and building that got broken in the big storm November 2014.

Can you believe these numpties, standing so close to the glass!! If one or more of those panel shattered they could easily get sucked out. At least the guy filming this video had sense to stand back.

Yeah I can believe em; they're 20 somethings so they know everything and can't be told anything.

To be fair, it's not anywhere near as high as you think it is - that lookout is only a few storeys above the Brisbane River. Even with the storm, the wind probably wouldn't be enough to suck anyone out.

Maybe they don't have tornadoes in Brisbane, but strong windsheers can bust out windows causing serious injury. Why take the chance for a video??:/

They wouldn't have been "sucked out"; this was a supercell, but not a tornado. However, there was a risk of the glass shattering which could have caused serious injury.
