The spark explosion are looking so pretty.
Nothing better than arc's & Sparks & a very loud boom
I did cleanup efforts for Hurricane Ian, and it definitely changes the way you look at storms and even your own life. When you see it on RUclips your initial reaction is “Oh damn, that sucks”, but when you actually step into that zone where people were impacted, it hits deep. And it hits hard. I was working for P.E.R.T for rescue and clean up efforts, 3am -9pm. Saved a family.
This is some of the best footage of this phenomenon I’ve seen yet. I think this is how the fires in Maui started. Thanks for sharing!
That is pretty much how they did. Nobody stops to look at the power grid closely, if you did and saw all the poles that need to be replaced, you would be shocked.
My brother lives in near Jacksonville, FL. He was stationed there when he was serving in the Navy the last five years of his twenty years, he’s retired but he doesn’t want to move back where most of our family lives in California, him and his wife and daughter love it there, but our mom worries when they have hurricanes but my brother and his family are still safe and reassures mom that they’re all good and safe. It just looks scary! I like to watch a good lightning show, whenever we actually get one in California... we all oooh and aww! Lol 😉⚡️⛈
Some good footage there!
Thanks DEMO VIDEO NOT FOR BROADCAST.
I'm curious if most of this was foreign objects (branches, debris) creating arc faults, or if most of these arc faults were due to conductor gallop strictly because of the winds.
Matthew was a slow mover. I’m in coastal South Carolina region and that was the longest night/day of my life. Not sure but it seemed like a good 12-14 hours at least before the winds began to die down. Isaias was a fast mover, it lasted only 3-4 hours for me.
As fire, spark & sound what a great sound
That flash look like Lightning
I thought they cut power to cities just prior to hurricanes, for this reason
Gabriella Naylor They did in Charleston SC before Hugo in 89. I lived through all that. If you're right, then society has become much dumber than they used to be.
Right, that makes sense to me with the mandatory evacuation. I did read that the governor (at least here in Florida) has the authority to cut a power grid prior to or during a storm. In my experience with hurricane Hugo, it was a Cat 4 and hit us head-on. It was pretty extreme, which I'm sure is why they cut power just before the storm hit. I was living on the Air Force base, so it's possible it may have just been a military thing too.
yep that statement is true it has gotten dumber!
@@Spaethon probably don't want power surges damaging their equipment
Out of curiosity, so the power line actually carry the whole towns power
StormChasingVideo
May I ask how much KW ?
@@beedslolkuntus2070 alot
@@ricorendezvous4228 mhmm
Those lines are probably rated for about 4300kva (approx 4300kw)
That last one was on fire.
Florida Power & Light (FPL) will do this type of work after the hurricane.
SPECIAL MOVIE EFFECTS! ✌️✌️👏👏🙌
crazy
Why didn’t the power companies turn off the power?
wow crazy !!! that is so frightening
This look like just cause 4 with power lines exploded
Don't ever look at an electric arc. They can blind you in an instant.
not true
Yes true.
I've looked at transformer explosions and electric arc and I haven't went blind so it's kinda hard to believe you
Do you look at electric welding arcs too? That's an electric arc, too.
It wasn't that bad when it hit new symerna
Did you lose power
0:33 wow flash of powerlines
looks creepy
Good
Why are the power lines sparking ? For I never see that hear in California is it the winds or the rain hitting the lines
It's because branches and stuff are being blown through the air. They conduct electricity ... boom, you get a short circuit, which makes a lot of sparks. (We're talking about megawatts of energy here!...)
Benjamin Esposti that and the wind blows the lines and it shorts
Benjamin Esposti megawatts?!?!?!?! Hahahaha
Mike Akers that’s a real thing you know
cheeriosspagetty leave here in the uk our main grid line is around 40 to 50 megawatts go ahead and touch that with wet hands i know i will ;) kappa.
Easy to repair powerlines never paid off!!!
Well it depends on where you live (how often you'd have to replace them). The devil is in the details. XP
Papá🌪⚡⛈
Wow 😯
I know storm chasers provide a useful service but just for me, personally, lol, if I ever went out during a storm at night just to watch exploding transformers, please make an appointment for me at the nearest psychiatrist's office so we can figure out what has gone wrong in my life.
Wow! How shocking!
cellular radio alive?
probably, most have big backup batteries
@@robinyoyoyo2034 This power outage from WA USA. I think 4G LTE alive but still no internet, tree falling can pole breaking fiber optic (2019)
Hurricane mutual assistance of power companies from around the country to go to Florida.
That’s scary
I wouldn't get close to a powerline on the ground bud. that's High voltage
Why was there no cars
