    Best teaching video I have seen! I have been so intimidated to start coloring after seeing so many beautiful colorists. The other videos use so many colors and going over and over with the shading. Your 3 step process is so easy to understand. I now have the confidence to tackle this book! Thank you!

    Hello Davlina! THANK YOU SO MUCH for creating your tutorials the way you've done them. Seeing that wee bit of writing on the screen is great ... seeing the clear photos of the names and numbers of the pencils you have chosen listed at the very beginning of your project is VERY helpful to people like me who are trying to achieve the results we are viewing on our screens.
    I'm looking forward to viewing more of your projects.

    Excellent tutorial! I just started coloring last week and the one issue I have is blending from dark to light and the whole process. After watching your video I think I can do much better now. Easy to understand and beautiful pallets. Now my only thing is I need to swatch my colors and organize them better so I can pick the right colors. I have 3 sets of pencils now so I have a lot of basic work to do. Thank you!

    I've finished all the leaves you showed us how to color on the 2 page picture from The Secret Garden. I'm now going to start on the flowers your tutorial shows us how to color. I'm very glad to learn you plan to finish the 2 page picture on RUclips 😊👏. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish this beautiful/ page picture. I'm going to learn how to send you a picture of what I've colored. The colors on RUclips look darker than my colored leaves do, but I'm still pleased with the results. Thank you, thank you again for sharing your talent with your subscribers 🎨🌸☺️

    Wow! Like a lot of people I jumped on the bandwagon of Coloring Books. I loved to color when I was a child and with my nieces when they were younger. But as I colored I noticed how flat my coloring was and that my technique of outlining the item and then filling in with color wasn't working so I just put all my new coloring books away. I was so disappointed and because I didn't see the layers of coloring in the Greyscale Coloring Books and shading with Copics for making greeting cards I just figured that I did not have the skill to color any better than I did as a child. That all changed as I watched my first video of yours! I am so enthusiastic now to get those books back out and color! You have changed the way I now look at coloring books and color in general!! I wish I could tell you in words how much that means to me!! I also garden and as I am on my way to look at plants at the garden center I am excited to use the idea of lightest, medium and darkest colors to "Paint" with my flowers in my front yard! This is a wonderful new skill that I am thrilled to have found with you! While I don't have the time right now to put it into use in my coloring books I know that when I can sit down I will be able to accomplish it!
    Thank you oh so much for your help and the sharing of your skill! I did subscribe and look forward to viewing more of your awesome videos! I am so excited to color again and Thank YOU for that!
    With Joy! ~Laurie

    I get a little hypnotized when I watch your videos! Thank you for sharing the blending tips, you are really clarifying for me how to achieve richer, more luxurious looks as I begin my quest into this crazy new coloring book fun! Question, by doing the 3-color on top of each other method, does this decrease or eliminate the need for using a blending brush or one of the blenders with mineral oil in them?

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  8 лет назад +1

      Oh, thank you again!
      I only use blending materials like mineral oil, if the area I'm coloring is huge, like a background. Other than that, I don't like using blending brush or pencils. Putting colors on top of each other helps with blending as long as you use colors that are close to each other in shade.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

      It's a brush that is included with an eraser i bought. You can find it in amazon. I showed it in my "The tools I use" video. Here is the affiliate link to the eraser+brush: amzn.to/2jMeZyy
      Another tip i saw in another video is that you can use a big makeup brush.

    Quick question - since I never know about "pressure", how hard is your pressure in each step? It looks quite heavy at the beginning of steps 1 & 2 and all through 3 but I have read a lot about "light layers" so wondering just how much pressure to use. Thanks!

    • @DavlinaArt
      @DavlinaArt  8 лет назад

      +5898MJ The initial steps have quite a bit of pressure, but not too much that you hurt your arm. The goal is to make the initial color dark and make it lighter as you move along the steps.
      Hope that helps

    This is a nice video. The music is perfect. I had some difficulties seeing the color as in the actual color and color level to the page as the lighting is a bit dim for me, but I'm sure others are OK with that. I could not read the pencil names so I did not know that the first set of leaves were blue, I thought they were a strange color of green that I've never seen before. I cannot afford any art supplies as I'm on a fixed income and I am using Crayolas.
    I was wondering why you don't use a blender pencil? It seems as though you are applying a lot of product on the page and that if you used a blender pencil you would not have to press so hard. My hands hurt when I color and I use a blender pencil.
    Also another question that I have is, why do you go back over, when you have the second pencil color, basically the entire darkest color that you have, and then with the lightest color you use, you go over the whole thing?
    Obviously I'm new to coloring and sketching so I'm trying to understand yours and others methods. I would love to read your response. Thank you very much for the video, and have a nice day. Merry Christmas if you celebrate 🎁🎄

      I'm sorry you couldn't see the colors..........this video was made a while back when I didn't really have good lighting.
      I don't use blender pencils since they don't really work for me.
      I go over the whole picture when i'm blending because that's how the flow of the colors look good while blending. If i didn't do that, the flow of the colors from dark to light would look abrupt and not smooth.
      I hope i've answered your questions clearly.
      Happy coloring!

    Just wanted to tell to those who don't have a set of 100+ pencil, I do this method all the time with only two shades and it turns out just as beautiful. Just try it.

    One more comment from my message below. I was looking at all your videos. Do you think you'll color people? I love to color flowers, but recently found myself coloring people such as in My Besties Coloring book. I would love to see a video of you coloring skin and clothes with your amazing talent.

      I love to color nature.........plants and animals, but I am willing to give that a shot. I don't have "My besties" but I just ordered Dagdromar and I'll be coloring skin and others from that book soon.

    Also apparently I should’ve bought the 150 instead of the 72. I don’t have the first color so now it’s all off. I don’t have second one either. I’m new to this and have a tremor but I can color. I’m going to learn these methods no matter how hard I have to try but what are the numbers? Maybe I can find the pencils individually at my local art store.

      @Trixie Cat That's what I do. There's a Hobby Lobby close to where I live. The individual Prismacolor pencils are a little over $2 and Faber Castell are $1.49

    I enjoy learning some of your techniques and have subscribed. The only distressing things I see are how harshly you treat your beautiful pencils and you don't seem to be enjoying the art.

      Thank you for watching and subscribing. I'm not sure what you mean by "how Harshly you treat your beatiful pencils". I've been coloring in my spare time (2 kids under 4 and a full time job - so spare times don't come very oftern), for a year now. Believe me if i didn't enjoy the art, I wouldn't be coloring.

      When I said harshly, I was thinking about how hard you are pushing down on the pencil in order to get an instantly dark color, instead of layering lighter layers to develop depth as well as color. I have not done a lot of color book painting, but this method works well for you, as you produce really pretty pages! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

      Oh i see. Yea, i do press hard in order to get the look i've in my mind. I also over sharpen my pencils so when it cracks, it looks like i pressed too hard.
